Look at that super flushed face insert. No gaps whatsoever!  I've observed many makers past and present and Kari for me, does the best face inserts.

Beautiful putter. All it needs for me is a flow neck and maybe a deep mill. Enjoy!

Just got my putter today.  Its lovely. The insert is perfectly flushed.  No flange issue. 

 

I've installed a fluted true Temper shaft and Rosemark grip and added a blue highlight under the shaft band to match the paint fill.

Finish: Marine Satin

Head preferences: Softened topline and bumpers.

Milling: Light

Feel: Clicky, with wonderful feedback

Sound: Ping Pong ball hitting a hard surface

 

General notes: There are a couple of imperfections (my guess is from the machining), but nothing that impacts performance or stands out at address. Communication was fine throughout the process. Overall, I’m very satisfied.

I chime in as well.  At the end of last season I started looking for a new putter that would be “mine”.  Spent a couple of months reading reviews and must have built 100 putters online.  Decided to go with Lajosi after reading so many positive reviews.  I knew I wanted a flow neck and terylium insert.  Exchanged emails with Kari a few times and landed in this:

 

Order Date:  11/21/22

Delivery: 2/25/23

Finish: Marine Satin 

Stainless Steel w/ terylium insert, deep milling

34”/350g

 

As you can see I prefer a more minimalist look without much in the line of fancy.  I’m in love!  The description of a ping ping ball hitting a hard surface is pretty accurate!  I took a flyer on the grip master grip and it feels a little small to me, I may change that out for a larger GP Green star grip, we’ll see.

This is a beauty - how does the insert and that spiral mill feel? I’m interested in the 2 DD201 flow necks on his work bench, one satin has that face and the other is a carbon oil can with the V grooves. Worried the latter may feel a bit too mushy for my liking but prefer that finish, quite the conundrum. If anyone has feedback on the carbon with V grooves would appreciate it as well!

To me, the feedback is very good.  I'm not a fan of overly soft muted feel and hence all my putters have a mid deep face mill at most.  In fact, most are light depth mills.  Kari is also aware of my preference for a non clicky feel as well and to this effect, he left a slightly thicker cavity back which affects feel a lot. 

 

His inserts are the best in the biz for me... super flushed.. not many makers can do this.  The spiral is also out of this world.

 

I've not seen his latest workbench offerings.  See if you can zoom in to mill depth. Generally speaking, his V-mill should feel softer than spiral mill if anything, due to depth.  I do have a DD201 Damascus with V-Grooves which I think is mid and for sure, it feels softer than my super mild spiral.  This is not due to material (carbon damascus vs copper) but mill depth. Kari can of course vary the mill depth for both and that will affect feel.

 

Hope this helps some.  Whatever you choose, you'll be getting a very good putter from Kari.  If he has one with a face insert, I'd suggest you get that if only because he's the best at face inserts.

Does anyone have a regular and a wide back version of a DD201 or Sensor they could show me side by side from address?

 

I'm keen for a wide back model but it's hard to tell if it's wide enough based on photos.  Currently running a regular sensor. Would be good to see them side by side.

I don’t know the width of the regular dd201 but I asked here for the WB and it was 33mm I believe. Maybe someone here can measure a standard dd201 and sensor

Recently received an LP747 which was going to be a gift but this didn't work out as I couldn't get the timing right.

 

Will probably look to sell it because the shape isn't for me, but a nice putter to look at.

Here's a Sensor (Left) and SensorWB (Right) - apologies for the poor image quality.

 

The SensorWB is not a very wide blade (33mm), but I like it alot.

Damn was hoping for a bit wider than this.

I've been gaming a sensor for 5+ years but alignment is significantly better with a wide blade.

 

Think I'll have to go a different route...

I bought that one second hand so I’m not sure what Kari calls it. I plan on ordering another just like it with a FN22 neck and I’ll be sending him that photo when I do. Had to put all putter activity on the back burner tho cause home improvements got in the way lol. Damn bills

Make sure you have him bead blast the head, regardless of the finish you request. He doesn’t do for some reason on oil can and maybe others which leave a terrible milling line in the flange.

I owned a stainless Sensor WB with the true spiral face milling, which is flat faced. It was very firm. I don’t recommend a flat face on that model. In fact, I also had a Bayzie with that same flat face and it was also very firm. In my experience, his mid-depth standard face milling is the best. I had that on a regular sensor and it was awesome. I should have kept that piece.

Good call. I’m officially jealous. That thing will make a lot of putts for you. I strung together three seriously good rounds of golf (for my crappy self) with that mid-depth milled Sensor I sold. Much of it was putting, along with killer irons.
