Golf season is over.

At least it is for me.... Well, maybe can play again in August/September. After the long winter I was ready to play a ton of rounds. I was in Mexico two weeks ago at one of those resorts with slippery tiles everywhere. Someone spilled a drink on those tiles in the lobby bar, I walked in, slipped, flew up in the air and landed on my right wrist. Ended up getting xray when I got home to find out that it is possibly broken, Dr. couldn't say 100% from xray, so I'm in a brace right now and getting an MRI in a few weeks. If broken, it's 4-6 weeks in a cast. Needless to say I AM NOT HAPPY. I'm finding it hard to even watch golf right now. It's too depressing. Maybe this is a hole in one curse or something since I got one just a week before this injury.

So let's say I get the cast in mid-june, then 4-6 takes me to beginning of August and then I have a little rehab I would have to do and then hopefully can play a ton in Aug, Sept, Oct to get my fix.

Tough break, but look at the upside... tons more time for ho'ing clubs! :)

Seriously though, I wish you a speedy recovery. I can't imagine being forced to the sidelines during the season.

"Slippery tiles everywhere" describes EVERY resort in Mexico. Beautiful to look at, but I'll never understand why they're used on ramps, and near pool areas, etc. Sorry about your wrist. Hopefully the rest of the trip was great.

Barcelo hotels in Riviera Maya. Trip was awesome. Played golf that morning. I had been drinking but was not drunk. Just literally flew up in the air. Friend said it looked like someone in a cartoon slipping on a banana peel.

Glad you had fun otherwise. Place we go in Puerto Vallarta has a polished marble/stone floor throughout the villa -- by the shower and everywhere -- and it's like ice when the slightest bit wet (which it is often). It amazes me that I or someone I know hasn't done exactly what you've done -- or worse.

Hope you heal quickly! I was drinking while playing here in Denver, and I was quite inebriated at the time, and rolled right off a curb walking off the green. Didn't break anything, but it sure swelled up fast and kept me off the course for about three weeks. Was just out for a fun round with my buddies where lots of beer was involved and I was too busy laughing it up over some joke someone told to realize I was about to walk off the curb...hurt more than just my ankle. Sure felt like a doofus! I rarely get that drunk while playing but the one time I do, I go and hurt myself. Boooo.

Talked to a friend (lawyer) and my orthpedic and both said I'd get nowhere. If it was in the US they would quickly pay for all medical expenses but both said they know of people who tried and nothing came of it. I'm not the suing type anyway.

Thanks Richard. Been playing virtual rounds in my head the past few nights. Just not as fun. :(

All that time away from the course will just give you a chance to rebuild your bag 2-3 times....that's what happens when I'm forced away from the course for a few months.

Seriously, I hope it gets better ahead of schedule.

To all the guys saying lawsuit...good luck with that. Foreign countries don't exactly play on the same field as we do in the U.S. Just take your time and let it heal properly. You might be able to do some one handed putting drills to help out a bit. Other than that just focus on getting better and not making things worse.

I live in Minnesota, Last year I spent the winter hitting balls into my net and playing with the optishot and it felt like spring would never come. Spring finally came and I got out for 2 rounds. Third week of May I get a hernia. Go see the Doc. After I see a couple more docs to get cleared for the operation it gets done July 1 with a 6 weeks recovery time. I had a 2 lb. weight restriction and was not allowed to swing a club. I sat in my living room looking out the window at all those great golf days just flying by. Finally the third week of August I got the ok to play again.

By the time I felt like I was back and swinging good.....SUMMERS OVER.

When I say I feel your pain, I really do and it truly does suck!!!

Hope you get better soon.

As I said earlier in this thread, I talked to a lawyer and my doctor and both said I would get nothing out of them and it would be a headache to even try and end up getting nothing.

Heal fast pards! Don't rush it though. Broken wrists can ail you for the rest of your life if you don't let them heal well. I know this because I broke mine down in the engine room in the navy. It has given me fits for the past 25 years. Mine happened during a 8 month cruise and we were short handed. I turned down a less physical position due to feeling guilty of letting my guys down.

If your expected to heal in 4-6 weeks it's not all that bad. Wait until you get my age and you wake up wondering if you'll be able to play because of the aches and pains. 800mg Motrin usually does the job - not always.

Good luck.

Thanks man. Hole in one curse....

Well, insurance company screwing me by saying I can only receive MRI from local hospital, which focuses only on inpatient MRIs so it is very hard to get an appointment. Their first appointment for outpatient is 3 weeks from now. Local MRI place a mile from the hospital can take me in about 1 week. So it will be a month after my x-ray that I get MRI and then probably 4-6 weeks from there. Healthcare companies suck.

A work buddy of mine was set to play Pebble Beach / Spyglass Hill this coming week for his brother's 50th birthday. Bucket list trip, all paid for by his brother. He broke his wrist in a biking accident last week, and will not be able to play at all on the trip. He's still going to watch his brother, followed by a trip to the surgeon when he returns home. Described it as the "worst day of his life"...

A few years ago I was kicking a soccer ball around in the back yard with the grandkids in San Antonio. Eventually two of us were competing to get to a ball and darned if I didn't go down with an audible "snap." As I was bouncing off the turf, my only thought was, "Crap! Golf season should be starting in Michigan in a week or so and I have to do this!!!"

I made it back in time to play a lot that year. You will heal up too. If you follow your physician's advice, who knows, maybe he will transplant a "Seve" gene into your short game.

Had my MRI yesterday and now have to wait a week for ortho to get and review the results. Have an appointment with him next Thursday to review results and figure out the next steps. That will will be one day short of 4 weeks from the fall. I really hope it is not healing wrong. This whole process has sucked and it is 90% the fault of my insurance company. They put the restriction on where I could the MRI done and that caused a 2 week delay and it is possible the it is healing wrong and may require surgery, which they will have to pay for. Such crap.
