Callaway PM wedge versatility

I'm about to pick one of these up after my buddies keep raving about them. I found a deal on a slightly used 56* but I'm starting to rethink that decision. I currently game 50/56/60 vokey setup but wondering if the PM wedge has so much versatility I could get away with keeping my 50* vokey and just buying a 58* or maybe the 56* I found the deal on could do it all (punch approaches, chips/pitches, sand, speciality?)

For anyone gaming these wedges let me know if you see any versatitily advantage/disadvantage of playing a 56/58/60. It's my understanding the grind is exactly the same the only thing that changes is 3* more bounce in the 56.

Thanks in advance.

I am using a 52 / 58 setup with the PM grind in 58. I find it VERY useful around the green; it's super easy to lay open and lob soft pitches at the pin. Really good out of the sand as well

I'm struggling slightly on full shots with it, though. I'm not sure if the shape of it messes with my head, or whether it's just a matter of getting used to it.

I think going 52 / 56 / and then a 60 in PM grind would be ideal (or 50 / 54 / 58 om grind). I'm finding myself trying to finesse those 90-100 yard shots with my 52 rather than being able to swing a comfortable, full 58.

I play 52/56 in the Tour Grind Mack Daddy and the 60*PM.

I've found the PM is obviously quite a bit more versatile. Especially if you have a clean lie on fairways for chips, it opens up a much larger tool box. The amount of spin you're about to put on the ball from a pressed chip from 20 yards is kind of awesome. I don't hit a lot of flop shots, but if you play at a lot of courses with monster green-side rough like we have here in the midwest, the thing is a GAME changer at getting the ball out and landing soft. My Mack Daddy TG 52/56 are forged, but the PM grind feels just as soft coming off on half wedge shots. If you play at courses with thick rough and grass its $$$$, and I would probably say it's less of a value of you play on hard tight conditions.

I've carried a 60* wedge since the early 90's..........I love them and have a LOT of them. They are all similar but have subtle differences.............this wedge is far different, I've never played a club that is so easy to hit pitches from thick rough. It's as effective as any other lob wedge from good lies but it's a game changer from nasty lies. I never carry a 56* so it's my bunker club also, very effective from sand as well. I have everything from Clevelands to Pings to Vokeys and this lob wedge is a new innovation.

An excellent club that offers performance different than anything else on the market!

I'm playing the 50 in the TVD, and the 56, and 60 in the PM grind. I agree with the posts above. It's very easy to use out of the sand, and the rough. I really love it around the green as well. The 60 is super easy to open up, and hit the flop shot if you need. I've only been using them for about a month, but so far I haven't been able to find any real downside to them. Other than the look! Not a huge fan of the size, but I'll take that with how it performs.

Where are you using your 56? it seems that I could go with a single 56, 58, or 60 and have most shots covered if the wedge is this versatile. I'd probably go 58* but I used to flop my old 256:12 vokey so maybe could get a 56 and not need another wedge either.

In carrying a 56 and 60 pm grind. No way on earth this isn't the best sand and lob wedge made. It's so easy to hit its ridiculous. I have found that I especially like a 50 yard or so shot where I have a backstop. Take the 60 put the ball back in your stance come in steep and hit a low punch hold off past the pin and watch it hop and come back at you. Who ever seen a 60 hit that way ? I haven't. Something about the grind allows it to be so versatile. It cuts perfect shallow divots every time.

I shipped off the last of my vokey a today in a trade and have two scratch wedges going to BST tonight. The super GI wedges are staying in my bag for good !

I have a regular 52/56 in MD2 Tour, and a PM Grind as my 60. The 60 is my go to wedge around the green...best sand/lob wedge I've ever owned. Like others, not a fan of full shots yet though because I'm so set with my MD2 distances and they perform. You can tell Phil and Cally had those delicate greenside shots in mind when developing this wedge.

Between the MD2, PM grinds and the MD3 coming out, Cally has in my opinion the best line of wedges out there. There literally is something for everyone.

I read these posts and seen pictures but didn't understand how the pm had more versatility until I see the face on picture in this month's golf magazine. My mistake that thing is a beast. I figured cally was selling a name. I need one now.

At the very least you have to try the lob wedge.

I am playing the 58 PM grind, it is phenomenal out of the sand and fluffy rough, but I gave up on it from tight lies.

I ended up carrying 52/56/58pm - it plays more like a 60 to me

That is my plan as well to replace my 60 XForged MD TA with a 58 PM. The 60 PM I tried seemed higher than my 60 TA and all the comments about it being a little shorter have me leaning the 58 way.

I've got the 58 and must be the only person on the planet struggling with it. Awesome from rough around the green; the extra club face area gives me a lot of confidence. On all other shots, both sand and tighter lies, I'm getting way too much run out and that big face makes me feel like I'm just going to catch too much ball. I'm second guessing not getting the 60 instead and trying to convince myself that two degrees isn't that big a deal, but it feels like it is.

For those who have both a 56 and 60, how would you describe the difference in usage between them?

I have the 60 currently and love it. Its just magic in the green side bunkers and with flop shots. I currently use a 54 RTX and I'm wondering if I could get some benefit out of replacing it with the 56 with how much I love the 60.

I have had 4 chip ins with my 58 pm in the last 4 rounds. 2 coming in one round. My up and down scoring has dramatically increased since buying this wedge. I've learned how to control this club for everything 105 yards and in. I am in LOVE. The only thing I don't like is the big sole off of very very tight hardpan...the leading edge seems to sit high. I hit my ping gorge gap wedge for those shots...

Sorry for the old bump.

My wedge setup was 47(PW) - 51 - 55 - 59. Now I added the 64 just for fun to mess around with. Long story short it's not going anywhere; it's automatic from 55 yard pitches. Now I want to add one more pm.

For those playing multiple pm grind wedges, what does your gapping look like in terms of wedge lofts?

I'm hard pondering how I can keep the 64, add a second PM, and have 4 total wedges. If worst comes to worst I guess I'll be that guys with 5 wedges.

I have 52/56 sm5 and pm 60...the 60 is incredible around the green and tricky shots. Spin is great...almost an adjustment period for how fast it stops. I don't typically use it for full shots just play down the 56. I highly recommend the club..best lob I have tried since retiring my old mp-r.
