Callaway PM wedge versatility

One thing that works fantastic for me, especially from a squirely lie, is closing the face a little bit on the 56 PM...do it for virtually any lie i am "unsure" about

Amen. If you practice a lot you will find you can hood it , or Lay it open and anywhere inbetween. Most wedges if you shut the face they dig. Not these. It still takes skill. But they are more versatile.

I'm a high handicapper and was wondering if this wedge (PM) is at least somewhat forgiving and easy to hit?

I'm sort of concerned that full and 3/4 shots are difficult for you guys as that would make it impossible for me.

I have a Callaway Sure-Out wedge for the sand which I haven't tried yet due to the weather, etc.

I guess this PM wedge would be for everything except sand.

I hope the shaft isn't like "rebar".

If you don't think this wedge is for me, then any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been told more bounce is good, but I just haven't necessarily found that to be true.

Thanks,

Paul

Actually, the sand is one place the PM-Grind shines. It's a very versatile wedge.

Paul, I've read these are very good out of the sand. Other than that they might have a steep learning curve but can't say first hand... good luck if you decide to try one.

Best sand wedge I've ever used, completely automatic. Have had mine in the bag for two full years now and thinking I should pick up a couple replacements to have around for when this one is worn out

I 100% agree. PM 60 wedge is just automatic out of any type of bunker. I have played this wedge in Soft sand in Atlanta or dirt type bunkers in AZ and this thing is awesome.

You can pitch and run, chip, or even pitch this from various types of grass too. Love it!

I tried the 56 bent to a 54, but have put it aside for my set wedge. The v sole and bounce on my set is just too good for my swing. There was something just a bit off about the 54. It was great around the green, but left a huge gap between the 50 and 58. I was only carrying it about 5-10 yards past my 58 and not close enough to my 50. It was pretty lacking on full shots.

Still have the 58 and it is one of the best golf purchases I have ever made. I just bought a backup because my grooves are starting to wear down. It has changed my sand game. Before this club, leaving it in the sand was not uncommon and I was at best 50/50 just getting it on the green. Now, I don't mind being in the sand, I am honestly expecting to get up and down. It is just so easy. I am carrying my 56 z545 around the 105 mark and the 58 PM about 90 on stock swings.

I have swapped out my MD3 50 for the PM 64 this week. It does take a while to get used to the 64 because where the ball lands, it stays. It's not a club you are going hit low, check and run out shot, at least not for me. To play any 64 you need to work on it for that reason. The high toe definitely helps coming out of the rough because of the extra mass up high. It's also very nice out of the sand. I am thinking of picking up a PM 60 to go along with the 64. I will keep my MD3 54 in the bag. I like the 54 better than the 56 since with the 64 in the bag I won't carry the 50 gap wedge. Many folks have complained about the PM wedge design for full shots. It does have a fairly rounded leading edge so it is probably more ideal for shot that aren't full and the sand.

Dude, the Sure Out is a much better wedge for you. It works well from anywhere around the green. Some say and I agree, it's better then the PM Grind. The Sure Out, PM Grind and the MD3 W are all fantastic out of the sand.

The stock KBS Tour V 125 is like rebar in the PM and part of the reason I opted for the Sure Out instead. The stock steel KBS 90 in the Sure Out is a whole lot friendlier.

High bounce is not the do all, end all. But for average players in average conditions, it's a better choice then low bounce in wedges. If your course plays hard and flat, the Sure Out and the PM are both poor choices.
