Does anyone have the link to the interview where Jordan talked about his caddy and the secret they have? He was asked what it was and said he was keeping that for himself. I cannot find the interview. Paul Azinger mentioned it again in Thursdays Open coverage.

He is a young guy still and lots can happen - lets see where he ends up 20 years from now. He could win all 4 majors this year and if his career nose dives after that he will be remembered for one of the greatest streaks in golf - then "not living up to his potential".

Anyhow fun to watch him now and I would love to see him keep it up for 15 years.

Young guy still and lots can happen - lets see where you ends up 20 years from now. I hope this is not true, but lots could happen. I have always felt that the difference between professionals and amateurs is simply a matter of consistency, but Peter Aliss did one better today by saying that "at some point you stop getting better, you can only get more consistent".

I think 21YOJS is in that sweet spot of skill and consistency right now. Rory is starting to move out of that, and Tiger is well past it. DJ, Day, and a handful of others have the skill, but havent quite found that consistency.

Everyone is overcomplicating this. He's the best putter in the world. Mid range putts win tournaments and he's #1 in that category. When Tiger was dominant, he was the best putter in the world. When Rory won 4 majors and took over #1 in the world his putter was on fire. Jordan Spieth will keep winning tournaments / majors as long as the putter stays hot. If the putter ever goes cold it could get ugly for a guy that averages 280 off the tee. He needs to spend less time in the weight room and more time on the putting green. Don't make the same mistakes as Tiger and Rory.

jordan is not yet quite at this phase but if he wins this major he will be very close!!

He attacks pins in the right place. Leaves a lot of shots hole high, uphill putt. He very rarely completely bails out on a flagstick but doesn't attack it stupidly either. Combine that with a good putting stroke and you have a birdie formula.

You dont win in golf unless you can putt.

Kid has an incredible head on his shoulders. Lets see if all this glory goes to his head. Right now it looks like he can handle it.

My guess is his team has done a statistical analysis about his game in a way the movie Moneyball was based on. Using these stats they map out a specific game plan on how to attack a golf course.

It looks to me as his driver swing is radically different than his iron swing, more so than others even in this era.

I wonder if it is because he is not worried about distance or already trying to push it little harder?

I remember years ago Tiger got real mad when Lefty started being significantly longer... then he started swinging out of his shoes and pilling up the injuries. In reality, all he had to do for an ego check was point to his Majors total to Phil's.

Your right, the driver never won anyone a major (but it sure lost quite a few).

His secret is his putting from 15-25 feet. He's the best on tour by a mile and this allows him to play smart golf and still score like a madman.

He's the best putter on tour. His strengths are strongest the closer you get to the green. Kind of the anti Rory who's strengths are off the tee.

I think it's a combination of a couple of things already mentioned in this thread. First: CONFIDENCE/MENTAL GAME. He's a bit of a grinder at times (with obviously world class talent) but also possesses a mentality that he's the best out there. That can be tough to beat. I also think he puts a lot of work into his game (grinder mentality) and that cannot be minimized. I don't see him coasting now that he's had success. As an aside, I just read Bob Rotella's new book "How Champions Think" and he writes about this. Great read and insight into how elite athletes think.

Second: Team Mentality. He's often commented how much of an influence his family is. Both of his parents played team sports in college and I think they've ingrained in him that even though golf is an individual sport, to win at the highest levels it takes a team effort. He seems to have a great personal and working relationship with Greller and I think they both work out a gameplay/strategy for the week.

Third: Best putter in the world right now. He's got an incredible short game. I don't think anyone else on tour makes more putts from 15 ft + than Spieth.

Mcilroy is a very good bunker player, pretty good pitcher and chipper. Putting that you'd say Spieth has a big advantage. Possibly iron play too but it would be close.
