Maryland area courses to play

I'm going down to visit family in frederick MD august 14-17. We're gonna play whisky creek.. and musket ridge.. I want to find another nice course to play that's about hour or less away travel.. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Maryland National,PB Dye,Worthington Manor or head out 45 mins to Whitetail or Raspberry Falls. When you are talking an hr. radius that will give you a lot of choices.
Jump in the Maryland thread and these guys will help you out. Most of them play east of me. I play north,south, and west.

Clustered Spires, Worthington Manor, and PB Dye are near or in the Frederick area. Good luck and have fun!

I played Worthington. And pd dye.. I was thinking raspberry falls if I didn't find anything else but played that once before.... looking up the suggestions you guys have made.. thank you.

I play south within an hr. -1:30..Some of my favorites are Blue Ridge Shadows,Rock Harbor, Shennadoah Valley. I'd say maybe ten I hit over that way. One of my top five courses that I play is Blue Ridge Shadows.

I'd say my top course favorites are Whiskey Creek,Musket Ridge,Blue Ridge Shadows Greencastle Greens,Carroll Valley, Whitetail , Compass Pointe and Links of Challedon.

Okay, so around the Frederick area. I stick around southern Maryland.

Andrews, LP, Oak Creek, Green Dale, etx.

I adventure out to Bull run sometimes and others around that area.

Worthington Manor, Maryland National. A few tricked up holes (mainly due to the rolling topography) but good, tough, tracks.

Montgomery county munis, specifically Northwest and Laytonsville are hidden gems.

Some good ones already mentioned. Especially Raspberry Falls and Worthington Manor. Also don't overlook Links of Gettysburg about 40 minutes or so north of Frederick.

Head east on 70 about 30 minutes away is Waverly Woods in Marriottsville. A real nice Arthur Hills course.

The Links At Gettysburg. I grew up in Frederick, and you picked my #2 and 3 in the area already, might as well play the best in my opinion!

Courses not mentioned yet:

- Blue Mash. Arthur Hills design, wonderful conditioning, hosted the local US Open qualifying sectional in 2015, a fun track. Those first 3 holes tho... Hold onto your hat. One of my favorites in the area. Had a wrx tourney there earlier this year to rave reviews. Grass tee range and an awesome free practice facility. Watch out for speed cameras to and from the course.

- Musket Ridge. Haven't played it in a few years, but my buddy raves about the course conditions this year. An overlooked gem.

- Waverly Woods. Another Arthur Hills design, and Blue Mash's 'sister' course. Tough track, but rewarding. Bring your A game and a few more extra golf balls.

Others to check out:
Rattlewood, Diamond Ridge/the Woodlands, Holly Hills (if you have a hookup) and Turf Valley (resort course that you might be able to sweet talk into a tee time).

My personal area top 5:
1. Worthington Manor
2. Blue Mash
3. Musket Ridge
4. Maryland Natonal
5. Waverly Woods

Whiskey and Worthington are close to each other.
Musket and Maryland national are almost next to each other.
I would also consider Northwest and Links at Gettysburg.

In addition to those mentioned, Little Bennett is another muni that can be a lot of fun. Beautiful land. Big all-grass range w/ practice area too. Halfway to Frederick, MD from the beltway.

A lot of good ones already mentioned but I would also suggest Rocky Gap about 45 minutes from Frederick. An excellent Jack Nicklaus design with a casino attached. One of the best in MD!
