So, as anyone ever pulled this boneheaded stunt.

Recommended Posts

Finish my round Thursday afternoon. Drop off my partner at his car, go my car. Change shoes, put everything away, put my cart back in the shed. Head back to work.

Get home a few hours later, need to get something out of the back, pop the hatch.......and think, "where are my clubs?"

Didn't take them into the office when I got back to work, then it hits, "Oh s**t, I bet I left them on the cart". This was at the public course I play a couple dozen times a year, it's league night, and the cart shed is open access. I'm fearing the worst. Fortunately, it's only a few minutes from home, go flying up there....and there they are. Rangefinder hanging in plain site, wallet in the bag, all the other stuff.

What a dumba**. Older and more forgetful every day.

Not quite that, but a couple years ago, I finished my round, dropped the tailgate, sat down and changed my shoes tossed the clubs in took off up the road. Heading to the store, went to call the wife to see if she needed anything else and realized I didn't have my phone. HOLY Sh*t, it hits me, I left it on the truck bed cover. So I turn around drive the 2 miles back towards the course fully expecting to not find it or for it to be completely destroyed. Almost back to the course now, about 100 yards from the entrance, and there it is lying about 6 inches off the fog-line (US Route 6) completely fine just a tiny scratch of the corner.

Sometimes all you can do is shake your head, laugh it off, and be thankful for something that could be a whole lot worse. :superman:

4 of us got 30 minutes into a 1 hr drive down the highway to visit a sister track. We'd all met at a golf store to car pool and tossed the clubs and shoes into the back of a bud's pickup

We're doing 140 kmh (90) and a guys beeps us to pull over ... had left the lift open ... nothing had flown out miraculously

I also had a weird event when I stopped at a course on the way home to pick up a wedge for a buddy (he'd left there a few days prior). I come out, drive to my course and pop the back hatch. My clubs are AWOL. I was light headed as I swore I had them with me and not at my club

The other club's bag drop guy had pulled them thinking I was playing !! Argghhhhhh

I actually just realized i did something equally bone headed a month ago or so. Plugged in my skycaddie under the picnic area while waiting for the start of a shotgun scramble. I left it there, returned an hour later and found it exactly where i left it. Which was shocking.

Last summer left the rangefinder on my truck bumper after throwing my clubs in the back. Drive 15 min to my house and there she is, sleeping like a baby on the bumper. Probably got up to 45 mph too on the way home.

I've actually left my clubs sitting on the front porch for a night because I set everything down to unlock the front door and somehow just didn't bring them in.

Went out in the morning and there they were just as I left them... No clue how I managed to not bring in the biggest thing I was carrying, but I forgot them just thinking about my round.

The worst thing is the moment when you realize that your keys were still in the golf bag and you just locked in the trunk.

Yes, you do feel like a dummy lol

Ritual I go through after every round:
-If I need to set anything down, it goes on my hood, not on top of my car.
-Count 14 clubs in my bag (and verify they are the CORRECT 14 clubs) before putting bag in trunk.
-Check that cell phone, wallet, and keys are in my pockets, and my golf shoes and glove are in the trunk.

Only close the trunk and drive off after these checks.

I've done it. The only kicker for me is that half of my course is in Canada and half in the U.S. The cart barn is in Canada and I forgot my wallet in the cart console and didn't realize it until after 10 p.m. or so. I went up and drove into the parking lot (lights on) and go stumbling around in complete darkness trying to make my way to the cart barn. About 5 minutes later, two Border Patrol cars come buzzing down from the station about a mile north. When they approached me they had their guns drawn and flashlights out. They started in with the whole gestapo routine (they thought I was somehow jumping the border, and this wasn't long after 9/11) until I recognized one of them, and let a hint drop that I knew who he bought his pot from. Then...I was free to go.

The end.

I was talking to a guy and he said that one time he got so drunk after golf, that he went home and blew Chunks. I said that wasn't so bad, that one time I was so drunk that I passed out in the clubhouse. He said you don't understand, my dog's name is Chunks!

Never forgotten clubs, my forte was forgetting golf shoes. And having to buy some at least five times. Second is putter, of course after practicing with night before. Never bought any just used buds putter. Finally figured out it would be good if I carried extra shoes and putter in vehicle. Brain firing on all cylinders that day.

I've driven to the course with sandals and no shoes and have left my wallet at home. My clubs rarely leave my sight (they have a permanent spot next to my tv unit in my living room - wife's orders as they are out of the kitchen : )

Happy your bag was still there when you returned. Easier to smile about it now.

I have you all beat.

Played with the wife. I dropped her off at the clubhouse because she needed to use the restroom before our one hour drive home and then I headed out to the car. Moved everything into car, changed shoes, started car to cool it off, closed trunk, climbed in, drank some water, and.....

proceeded to pull up to the clubhouse and picked her up.

HA!

You all thought I left her there. Not a chance. She's beautiful, loves me and has put up with me for almost 26 years, and plays golf. No way I leave her.

Now, shoes, cell phone, wedges, putter, towels, driver head cover, putter head cover, and a friend once - yes. But my beautiful wife - nope!

I worked P/T in the cart shed for about a year. What a joke most people are. Public course and left behind:
1. Clubs, not A club, the entire bag
2. Purses, all the time
3. Cell phones, could have opened a cellphone store
4. Cash, we are talking $20 at a time in the cup holders, and no they weren't tips
5. Beer, tons of it left in the divot sand bucket
6. Cigarette butts in the drink holders and the divot sand bucket
7. Wallets all the time
8. Tons of GPS units
9 Car keys, they never got too far without noticing

Not sure what people are thinking when they drop the cart.
