Blank Forged Cavity Backs - PICS of FINISHED PRODUCT ADDED on PAGE 2!

I have been looking for some forged cavity backs without all of the visual/artsy bells and whistles and I think I might have found the holy grail.

 

The Geotech JF10 blank prototypes seem to fit the bill perfectly. Also, the lofts are not ridiculously jacked up, which is nice and refreshing to see.

 

I just took the plunge and ordered a set of the heads 3 - PW without ever having seen them in person.

 

I've done reading on these and it sounds like some people say that these have a reverse offset (maybe similar to the MP 29's or the TN 87's?).

 

Can anyone confirm this or share some real pics?

I seriously doubt the heads have "reverse offset". More likely someone saw the face progression numbers and mistook that for offset. In face progression the larger numbers reference LESS offset.

Thanks for the reply. That is great info and it makes perfect sense. People tend to get face progression and offset confused a lot when they are simply reading the spec numbers.

I hope that you are correct, as I do not want to see a lot of offset in the short irons!

[color=#282828]It looks like you are correct! I found some spec numbers from the Japanese website. The Chrome translator didn't work, but you can make out the pertinent facts from these numbers. As you said, the face progression numbers increase in the short irons so there should be minimal offset in those clubs. Just what I was hoping![/color]

Good looking set. Will make guys at the course scratch their asses. Like my blank Kyoei MB heads. I've taken to making a game out of it when people ask. Sometimes I tell the " they are tigers leftover blanks from when Miura made his sets for Nike" ( wink wink ). And sometimes I say " I made those last night in the garage". I always tell the truth a few seconds later. But it's fun to watch their faces for a second as the smoke starts coming from their ears. lol.

I love it! The Miura line is a great one for those who catch the sarcasm.

Would you be able to post a few photos of your blank Kyoei MBs? I've heard great things about those.

Looks like these are made of S25C steel. Is that softer or harder than the S20C steel in the Srixon Z745 irons?

Harder. The material hardness isn't the only thing that influences impact feel softness though.

The heads arrived over the weekend. They are beautiful. The simply and clean look is so nice, that I almost don't want to do any stamping at all.

Oh and Nessism was correct...they do NOT have reverse offset. Very clean transition lines with minimal offset and a straight leading edge.

Will post pics after I get them fully built.

Glad you got the heads in. These look great, and the fact that you can get truly custom built forged clubs for under $1K is awesome. I'd be curious to hear how they play, and if they are forgiving at all. I'm not sure I'd have the game for them, but they do look manageable.
