Jason Day is my pick for the FedEx cup. Not sure who's going to finish second and don't think it really matters in this format.

Does anyone here care about the anchoring ban starting in Jan?

I don't. I've never tried anchoring and no one I play with uses it but
I wouldn't care if they did anyway. For recreational golf, I say screw
the USGA. Some guys get a little unsteady as they get older and
being able to anchor helps them to keep playing and making putts
and not getting frustrated with yippy jerky putting strokes.

I see no harm in that at all. I wouldn't want to see those guys give
up the game. They'll get no grief from me.
I actually putted with a broomstick Ping for a couple of years. I was having putting problems then and that is about the time I threw my beloved Zing 2 in a lake. Actually putted really good with it but there was no total utilitizing of my game with it. In other words I could not hit my little hop skip release off the green with it and other shots I use a putter for off the green. That was all tied in to that period when I had a "golf coach" Because I used the arc method of putting he told me I had a flaw in my putting stroke and had me doing the straight through forward thing. Got my mind so screwed up I could not putt a lick. One day I was out at the range and my other instructor buddy was giving a lesson to a guy and had this training thing on the green stuck down with tees. It was an arc putting trainer. After he finished with his customer I asked him what is that. He told me an arc training tool. I was perplexed and told him I putted like that all my life and was told I had a flaw in my stroke. He said I can only guess who told you that your stroke was flawed. He asked if I wanted to borrow the training tool. I said no but let me use one of your conventional putters for a few. I went back then and there that day never went back to the broomstick even though I still have it in the closet.
As far as someone using one pro or amateur I have absolutely no problem with it. We have quite a few retirees with back problems down here that anchor putt either in the sternum or belly. In fact quite a few Men's Golf Associations down here have made a local rule making them legal for comps in their respective associations.
Nice to hear about the "local" rules Stu. Kinda saw that coming didn't we when
the PGAoA was against the anchoring ban in the first place. They want to grow
the game and keep existing players playing.

It's time, as the Judge has so well said, that we finally acknowledge the pros are
playing a different game. IF the USGA won't get on board with that then I think
clubs are just gonna make their own local rules and go around them.

I guess I don't see anything wrong with the "game" so the long putter ban makes sense to me because it's kind of a crutch. Seniors tour, no problem, but Adam Scott should grow a pair and learn how to putt. One man's take.

PD, I love the game enough to go out and dew/dawn patrol, but that's a different game than going out and beating someone. Double bogey pushed a lot of holes in a lot of flights in this tournament. I like that there is no quit. In medal play I'm playing to find the seventies, every round. As that becomes statistically impossible I settle in and play my game. Match is the way golf was meant to be played. Stymie and all. Get in front of the guy and stay there. My goal until I hold the crystal is to go aggressive as hell until I'm out of the match. That's fun golf.

And as much as I hate to say it I'm on Goodell's side about the suspension. I am, but I'm not. On one side, as commissioner I think he knows Brady was involved. Meanwhile, I think Brady has a bulletproof alibi. If Goodell wants his decision to hold he has to publish the facts and if he doesn't have any then he deserves to be lynched.

New swing doesn't work with the old swing. Fork in the road. Forkin' road. ;)

New/old discoveries with the short game and 'using the bounce'. We had this discussion before. 'Hinge and hold' vs. 'Using the bounce'. I could expand but I'll just use what works for me. "I gotta secret. I gotta secret." ;)

I don't know why we were gome from school that day, January 28th, 1986, but I remember distinctly where I was standing when it happened.

We most be similar in age, PD, I had just turned 10, well, I guess that probably means I'm actually a few years older than you :)

It was a big deal for kids that were my age because we had studied the space program and all of our teachers had applied to be on that plane. One teacher from my school actually made the final group of interviews with Christie McAuliffe.

The Trade Towers attack occurred while I was living in Colorado in mountain standard time. I had been out at the bar and slept in and woke up about the moment it happened. I always drink coffee and read my emails first thing when I get up and looked at Yahoo!'s home screen and the first tower had just been hit and was smoking a little from one side. I actually thought it was photoshopped and the caption was going to be something like, "are you ready for an attack on American soil?"

Turned the t.v. on in the other room and watched the second plane hit. I was just numb for two or three days. A roommate from college grew up just outside the city in Fairfield, CT. His family and friends would come down and visit sometimes for a big football game. One of those friends was in the tower. That was an interesting thing about that attack. It was truly an attack on NYC not the USA. It much more deeply effected folks like bscinstinct who lived near ground zero. It just baffles me why anyone would want their legacy to be hurting that many innocent people. Maybe I just don't believe in anything, but I could never put a personal value above the welfare of other people. The only reason I could imagine hurting someone is if they hurt my friends or family. Most of the time I can forgive that too.
Its not explainable Matt. Eternal life rewarded to a martyr is evidently the motivation and we were an easy target. There's a reason the Judge is not in office. And if he were they would NEVER trust him with the football. Wouldn't have lost a moment's sleep over it. Nuff said.

We talk food here now and then,,,,Ya know how with just a touch of a button you can burn toast? Don't ya just hate it when that happens? There it was - a perfectly good piece of toast just roasted into a cinder. Darn shame. Could keep you up all night worrying about it if you let it. Wonder if there is a way to repurpose burnt toast? Maybe convert it to asphalt for parking lots - or use it make shoe soles or something. Hmmm.... could be patentable.

Hey -- any predictions on the Fed Ex cup here? Any distant runners you're pulling for?
But burnt toasts smell so good. Scrape off the black and cover with PB & Jelly (or marmalade)

Haha, I hated him long before deflate or spy gate. I love to hate him. I revel in every loss and every INT. You know how after your team wins the Super Bowl, you feel a little sympathetic for the opponent QB? I didn't. Twice! Haha! A dork beating the prince of smug! Yes!

Sorry for all the hate...NOT! :-0

More seriously, Eli always gets bashed by fball analysts, and, well, by everyone, but you can't argue that he became a different animal in the 4th quarter when it really mattered, when the pressure was intense. Now, as for the last couple years for the Gmen, he use to be fairly mobile in the pocket to buy himself more time, but he has been standing there like a manican lately (although the Giants' running game has been in the sh!tter which puts more pressure on him). If he doesn't step up it's time to start looking a trade options...

Well fellas, I didn't play well, but I played better than the other fella. Moving on in my flight against the world's nicest guy, although he's not near nice enough for me to roll over for him :)

I think we're going to get the families together and have drinks tomorrow on the off day. We'll see...

Anyways, I don't like the long putter and never have. Blows me away that a friend who could be a plus four is a four with a broomstick. He plays a course with tricky greens (the one I'm playing on for the tourney) and I guarantee it's a huge advantage. BTW, He usually plays 27. That's the outside 18 and the inside 9. We played the course, the first time I saw the "outside" on the 4th of July, family obligations and all we only played 18. I played the same 18 twice for practice and qualifying then wake up this morning at 5 to play at 7:15 and get to the club to find out we're playing the other 9 twice for the match. Perfect.

Edit : I might or might not be TOOL'd :busted_cop:
Glad to see you are moving on up or moving on! On the long putter /anchoring thing I personally see it as an advantage for some people and some not sorta like a hybrid. I cant hit a hybrid so I use higher lofted fairways. I do know from personal experience that any thing you do wrong with a broomstick is magnified. For example if say you push a putt a inch or so with a regular putter you will push it 3 inches with a long putter! I think in a nutshell if the anchoring was a big advantage every one would be using them like metal woods versus persimmon. I have said this before. Most of the general public is not as in tune with the game as us WRXers are and could care less about handicaps or the USGA, R&A or the PGA they just play golf by their own rules and have fun.

Found it, LOL. I thought he called him Chrissy but it was just
Chris, LMAO.

Wow - must have had my head in the sand back when that happened. That's the first time I have seen that. Its amazing what gets caught live on camera sometimes. Guess its not so funny depending on which end of the stick you're on but I always get a little chuckle when a golfer lobs out an F bomb and one of the field mics picks it up. Over the years its come from guys who I didn't think swore at all - LOL.

I was watching live when it happened. It was back in the mid 90s I think.
ESPN 2 was a brand new network and Rome was one of the 1st guys
with a talk show on there.

He was pretty arrogant back then. Don't know about now. Haven't listened
to him in years. Howie Long told him he was like a fly he wanted to hit with
a flyswatter, lol, just buzzing around irritating him.

Jason Day is my pick for the FedEx cup. Not sure who's going to finish second and don't think it really matters in this format.

Excellent call - he's hotter than a two-dollar pistol right now. Riding the 'mo.

Hope the new school year is off to a good start. Mrs, R has a wild crowd of Kindergarteners this year. She got a bushel of them that are thus far using any and all excuses to party....LOL. A kid stomps on a spider and they all go nuts for a couple of minutes. There is zero idle time where the wife isn't keeping things moving and on-task or they erupt into a loud scrum. LOL.... one of them likes to run-off. She looks up and he's running down the hall or finds him in the bathroom - or checking on big sister down the hall... LOL. That little guy is the escape artists in the group! Don't know how she does it PD.... and the crazy part is she loves it. Comes home laughing every day..... exhausted but full of funny stories.

Hello all awesome peoples of WRX land,

Still alive here. Let's just say, things around dan360 world are a bit chaotic and busy lately but we are still trying to play golf, buy golf stuff, hit golf balls -- with something, whether it be golf club, a medieval mace, a hockey stick, or #7 bird shot -- work on motorcycles, and keep the family dynamic afloat.

Oh. And work, too. Guess I forgot about work.

MC.... Its pretty clear. All you need to do is throw away your zipper. We're talking right in the trash can.... dump it for good.

When all else fails... Go to a freak show and watch a couple of elephants sneeze.

Module Mahoney! The no turn left tilt cast zipper lover! Or was it a forged
zipper?

What did Monte do to him anyway? LOL. Some serious hate going on there
from Module to Monte.

Who knows - LOL. That place is 2% honest sharing about golf and 98% the same 15 or so people running either a clique or fighting a clique. Its like watching a pack of paintball snipers take turns on each other. I barely even try keeping up with it these days. Life is too short.
That is why I do not bother to get involved with that crap. IMHO it is just one big soap opera just nastier
