Royal Collection....anyone still bagging one?

I recall years ago on another site that the BBD type-H was highly touted. I played one myself for awhile and I do admit it was LONG and really versitile. My question is, does anyone here bag the CB Pro or Type-H 2 and what are your thoughts?

I found a set of JP Forged RC Irons with Tour AD Shafts they look pretty sweet...

 

 

I was trying to find out some information on these RC's and two other JP Sets of Irons I found Today...

I have those exact irons above. Endo forged, great feeling clubs. Royal Collection is a very underrated brand. I've played a lot of their equipment over the years and it's always been high quality.

I used to bag the Tour VS driver and 3 wood.

Great clubs.

I just hit my current driver and 3 wood better---a little longer.

My current driver is an MP630 with a claymore stiff shaft but the Bio Cell+ with a fubuki alpha is waiting for a turn. During the summer when I'm playing a lot I use the SLDR 430 with a fubuki alpha shaft. Nothing is longer than that but it is a demanding club that during the fall I can't hit consistently.

My 3 wood is the SLDR with a fubuki alpha shaft as well. I love it.

I bought a RC utility for $40 on eBay and it is in the bag....I really like it a lot and I never got along with utility clubs

Thought Royal Collection went out of business? Or maybe it was just the US arm? They had the old Sonartec fairways that were well respected, but RC in general never gained very much traction in the US marketplace.

Last fall Amazon blew out a bunch of RC clubs for dirt cheap. Quite a few guys here grabbed clubs, including me. Decent enough clubs, but not overly memorable.

yea ive got quite a few of them still .
3/4/5 woods.
especially the 4 wood.

excellent heads . no frills . no fan fare . can do plenty with them, they sit beautifully , but no one likes them.
not overly super long. just great fairway woods.


also got a cpl of sets of wedges, again no love ,but really good to play.
some of thier othe stuf is pretty mehhhhhhhhhh but the wdges and fairway woods are very good.

Thanks guys. I guess the original BBD Type-H was their one hit wonder. It's a shame, as that was a great 3 wood.

i just bought a set of used rc bbd sfi forged, looks like an older model not sure but man, they're the best I've used so far. titleist doesn't compare. forgiving, distance, playability, fel. it feels soft every shot. i don't know how to post pictures though. if you go to eBay, type royal collection golf irons. i was seriously considering onoff, I'm glad i tried this

I still play a JP104 FH 18* w/ Fuji Rombax 8Z08. So many great shots hit into long Par 3's playing 215-230...

I picked up a set on eBay at a very good price. They came with the Shimada stiff shaft. I hit them on the range today and they are very nice and very forgiving. They are two degrees weaker through the set than my Pings, and they seem to be about 5-7 yards short with each club. I may have them bent 1* stronger to claw some of that back. I may also adjust the swing weight to my Pings, as they feel a touch heavy. I hope to get out on the course with them in a day or two. Can't wait.

I played 3 rounds with the C-Forged in 2012 and those are the finest irons I've hit since the 14's, and yea, I played the Miura 54's and would take these all day, every day, lol

That's the only thing-

The guy offered em to me for a set of my extra 68s still in the box(I've got 2 such sets) + $700 and counting my rounds they had eight on em-

I offered my boxed 68s + $500 and he passed-

I just can't see paying that kind of coin for an iron when the Mizzys and Staffs did everything that I needed an iron to do-

But if money were no object these are THE irons that I'd get-

As far as I know, RC are still in the business, and the Japanese site seems up to date. They don't appear to make blades anymore though. A couple of years back they had a really nice hybrid out with a longer face more like a driving iron. I found it really easy to hit, and unlike a lot of hybrids, it was easy to keep straight and flight it somewhat. Sadly it bloody expensive, and I couldn't justify the price, especially when I wasn't really having any problems with my own hybrid. Nice, but pricey (so pretty much your take on it, [b]Forged4ever[/b]).

RC is very much alive, but they are focusing on their bread and butter, which is fw woods for the most part.

As for the op's question, I kind of have one in the bag, that is if you count Sonartec as an extension of RC. I love my Sonartec MD with the tour irod shaft. That thing is so solid I can't kick it out of the bag. Not the longest hybrid, but so solid feeling when struck well and it flat out performs.

Those look pretty interesting with graphite shafts....good looking clubs and those from Japan ebay listings are like $300 more than the set is currently Being sold in Japan for fwiw. I bet you could get those sub $500 to your door.
