Callaway 815 DBD Shaft Options/Opinions

Background: High SS, Late release, negative AOA player who typically plays 75-85 gram shafts to control spin.

I've been testing a DBD and need to nail a shaft quickly before owning 5 shafts and wondering how that happened when it was just started as an experiement????

History with this head: First purchased a LZ 6.5 from XR Pro on the cheap and shaft but accidentally cracked it in a vise putting on a grip (never happend before) Still seems to play fine but I heard a pop so I know it's cracked. Overall not a bad shaft but didn't blow my socks off. Next ordered a Rogue Silver 70x 2.8 X (not I/O) having a great history with Aldila product (NV 75/85, Rip Alpha 80, etc.) to test and it wasn't blowing my socks off either, went into pro shop and grabbed a Evo 665 TS II from the GBB fitting cart and that "made for" shaft blew the Rogue away for me in this head. Here's the rub, my transition, SS, and MANY fittings tell me a 66 gram shaft will not be a good fit long term, especially on the course. I checked the specs on the 665 TS II X from Fuji and not too bad:

66G - Tip Flex 100 - Butt Flex 70 - 3.5 Torque

Roll the dice with this lighter "made for shaft," or try one of the following: White 757, Evo 757/757 TS, Fubuki ZT 70X, Fubuki Alpha 70x

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey Thlongball, that made for shaft is not bad at all, surprised me when I hit it, however, I had better results with the Rouge 60x & that is what I have in my 815dbd. I also ordered a zt 60x & this has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons, very nice feel, mid launch & mid/low spin & a heap of roll, I do not think you would be dissipointed with this shaft! Some background SS 113/116, moderate tempo back with hard transision & exceliration into the ball with good lag/late release. I have done some extensive testing with my Razr Fit driver & nothing has come close to the Fubuki K 70x in that combo ss116, la 14*, spin 2050, carry 289, total distance 312 average & as a result I have not taken it out the bag. I am deffinately going to get a Fubuki K 70x for my 815dbd, the Fubuki a was the closest to the K of 8 or so shafts.
In conclusion, of 10 shafts tested with my Razr Fit driver, the Fubuki K 70x was top of the pile, followed by the Fubuki A 70x. These gave the best ball speed, spin and dispersion of al, I think these two shafts you will not go wrong with at all.

Well I'm going to test two shafts: 757 Evo Stiff from R15 TP and Fubuki ZT70x. I'll have to pull/replace the tip on the Evo but if it's the 665 TS II X with slightly more stiffness and 10 more grams of static weight should be good. The ZT was an afterthought that I got for a STEAL and it's ready to roll with Optifit tip, if it's that good the Evo tip might never get pulled.

I am trying to find something to beat my 910 with 4 fitted shafts (LOL) and nothing has yet, sounds like the same thing with your Fit, those are AWESOME #'s by the way, I'm always looking for something to drop my spin into the low 2000's consistently, hoping the DBD is it.

Yes, dispersion is tighter& spin was less too, with the zt, after getting used to the feel, it was just as easy as copy & paste. Shot after shot just felt & went just like the one before, very consistent! I guess I'm lucky with the spin, I've always had decent spin no's & before the days of low spin drivers etc. my spin was 2500ish range depending on head & shaft combo. I would love to see what my spin no's are with the dbd! Good luck on your search! Just on a side note, I never in my wildest dreams ever thought that I would have my best no's with a Razr Fit/Fubuki K 70x combo, I actually had them both for sale at one time!
So lets hope you don't end up with a Krank head & NV shaft or something LOL!
