Arthritis in feet - fusion

Not sure if this is in the correct section so please move if it's not.

 

I've suffered with arthritis for about 15 years now and have reached the stage where the pain is too great plus I really really struggle to get shoes to fit that don't cripple me further. Last year I had a "clean up" operation which shaved bone etc however this was far from successful.

 

Anyway next Wednesday (28th) I'm getting a fusion done of the big toe on my right foot and was wondering if anyone on the Golf WRX forum has had this surgery done that can offer me some advice, words of wisdom, positivity. I was just wanting to know how it effected your golf? Did it effect your balance or your swing, did it take away the pain and ultimately, how long were you out of the game for?

 

My surgeon says anywhere between 3-6 months. Hopefully less than six months! Thankfully its coming into winter!

 

Any help or experiences appreciated.

It should not effect your golf and with the fusion, you should be good to go!!

Listen to your surgeon regarding post-OP instructions and you'll do fine!!!

Chivra is a Foot/Ankle surgeon(Podiatrist) and has been very kind with his thoughts and posts with others so ya might want to PM him if ya have any questions that your surgeon may not have answered.

OP, how are you doing post-op?

My wife's dealing with the same arthritis issue and is concerned with mobility if fused.
