One last try, since I fixed the images. Cavity stamp might be an older style? Not seeing much out there like it.

Picked this up.  Confirmed by David to be 1 of a kind handmade.  Was told by seller it once belonged to a major champion.  David said he knew the champion but did not know if he made putter for him.  Feels amazing.  Upper lip of the cavity still feels sharp.

Yeah, I guess he and his father have made so many putters for so many pros it is hard to remember them all.   

 

Only discovered the sharp edge when I was putting gun oil on it.  It is actually pretty neat how it is not totally finished out perfectly.

So there are differences David can spot between his putters and his father’s.

The well known one is the dot stamps after “T.P. Mills”

Truett used larger dots and punched deeper. David used smaller dot stamps.

From my observation the hand bent plumber necks are also different. Truett’s hand bent plumber necks had sharper bend angles. Where as David’s are more smooth and flowing.

It is always a special day when we get to see a full-on hand made putter from David.  That one truly speaks of how much time was spent shaping, grinding and polishing to get the look that he had in his mind, when he was talking to the player about the end product.   His dad is the true legend of this craft and seeing evidence that David grabbed ahold of that talent is always a very, very cool thing.

Great to hear that coming from an expert like you LaMont.  The putter’s beauty is enhanced by the lack of perfection, just shows the effort.  It feels better than any Mills I have hit and frames the ball perfectly.  At the end of the day while it may not stay in my bag because I think I may just prefer an Anser/NP 2 style head, it is a great putter that should be gamed.

The touring pro series are good putters but are not made by David, they are cast and made in Asia for that market with his name on them, they were not meant for sale in the USA.  But again they feel very good and are a nice putter.

Recently gave up on buying putters. I’ve tried so many different models/shapes/necks/shafts and I’ve putted bad with all of them. I’ve decided that if I’m destined to be a streaky putter at best, I’ll get something I like looking at. TP Mills was my choice. Love the coloring, stamps, and weight on this one.

David agreed to modify the neck of my Ming to have some more toe hang and be a more traditional flow neck. While it was there I asked if he could refinish so it had less glare. Some pics of the result and what it was like before. Love the bronze finish with some of the blued steel showing through.  Couldn’t be happier with the result and he was great to work with.

The Ming is my gamer, David made it about a year ago.  I bought the soft tail on the bay and am about to send it back for a restoration.  Looking into getting a sycamore or a Nellie with a crank hosel next.  David makes the best putters.

I've been talking with David recently, and when I asked him which head he would be making for lefties in the late summer/fall he said:

 

"You pic. will run your choice and when you see them in market place can say you inspired. pic model 🙂 "

 

Soooo, apparently he already has an order for some left-handed softtail blanks. I was going to request either some Trad II or Flat T (flow necks). I putt best with the Flat T style putter, but the Trad II are beautiful and a little more unique compared to the rest of the marketplace. If anybody is partial to one or the other, then speak up, and I'll let David know. Hopefully this actually happens this time! I'm not going to try and put a group together/send in a bunch of deposit money. I'm just going to let him know which headshape, and then I'll pray he follows through haha.

 

*Do not get your hopes up; a group of us lefties were previously told this was possible, but it never came to fruition
