This one is actually pretty wide compared to my other one. I don’t know if I’m in love with the neck position, but the balance is superb. The finish is really stunning in person.

Yes the newer softtails are wider by design I believe.  Yea both examples were really nice. Wonder where he got them. 
 

The neck position is exactly why I bid on the other one. But they both should balance similarly.

Any idea if David will make lighter heads?  Thinking about trying something in the 330-340g range.

I don’t recall anything “newer” being less than 350g unless it was a “tour” version. I bought a “tour” Nellie Wings about 8 years ago that was actually under 350g. Look for something older. The 2009 carbon plumbers neck softtail I have is around 340g I think. I actually like the lighter heads too, especially for longer putts.

Good thought on something older.  I putted with a scotty coronado for forever which is a 330g head at 35 inches.  Always putted well with it, and my ming is right around 350 which just feels a lot heavier.  I putt well with it, but when I have the inevitable off round I always wonder if I would prefer something lighter.

Could ask him, depends on the model but something like a bullet sole could remove some weight off a 350g head.

Yes, my Hakd Made Sycamore with pencil shaft is 342 grams. I wanted lighter but he was very hesitant to take any more off the back. It does have a bullet sole.

I'm pretty sure he will, my swan neck Flat T is 342g. Actually, I'm looking to move on from blade/anser heads due to my new-found mallet addiction. So, you'll probably see this beauty in the BST soon...

Spoke to David on the phone 2 weeks ago to make a plumbers neck version of the flow neck Trad II that I own. It seemed easy to get a hold of him and talk on the phone, but not sure how long the process is going to be... I'm sure he is very busy. 2 to 3 weeks is what I was told, but I know that typically means 4-5 lol. I've been putting well with the flow neck so I'm in no rush, but can't wait until I can switch back and forth between the 2.

David hand shaped the head, finish and milling. Hence the “Hand Made” stamping right on the sole.

Thats a CNC bead with the contouring done with a corner radius tool, which is why it terminates in tight corners the way it does.  That is 99% exactly how it came off the CNC.

All I know is David stamped it hand made because of the extra work he did. I didn’t ask for any of the stampings. He mentioned it was unique due to the work in the follow up email.

A quick search of your comments shows you doing this in putter threads for Piretti, Ow&Co, Haywood, Odyssey SevenX:Xander Edition, and a Scott Circle T Newport… and that was only the first page of search results. We get your point 👍🏻.

he makes great putter and is more than capable of making actual handmade putters, which makes stamping handmade on a putter that’s straight off a CNC all the more perplexing.

I appreciate when something is stamped "hand made" to mean that it's hand-made from start to finish, but even the older "hand made" TP Mills putters required a Bridgeport or other fly mills/machinery (albeit analog rather than electronic), so the meaning of the phrase probably changes quite a bit over time. Nowadays, "hand made" is synonymous with some hand finishing (maybe a stamp or some contouring with a sanding belt). While it's not the same, I don't think it's incorrect per se. 

 

As an aside, I appreciate your posts--I don't think it's throwing shade or doom and gloom to inform people that certain heads are first CNC-milled/blanks that then get some human touch/attention. Thanks for informing people! I (probably like you) would never want "hand made" stamped on a new TP Mills putter (or any CNC'd putter)...but I'm also still waiting for David to respond and give me a chance to buy a lefty (any headshape), so I'd take anything at this point hahaha

This is gorgeous!! Are you gonna let it rust/patina or try to keep it like new as far as the finish goes? Post an update pic after the summer/fall season finishes!
