I love doing a year in review. How many rounds, how many different courses, how many first time courses. Nothing exotic or top 100 worthy this year but I enjoyed most of the rounds I played.

In Sc:

The Witch, Myrtlewood Pinehills, Litchfield National, Long Bay, and Waterway Hills.

In NC:

Regent Park and Skybrook.

In Va:

Olde Mill

In NJ:

Shore Gate

In Pa:

Carroll Valley, Linfield National, Gilbertsville, Mainland, Blue Mountain, Olde Homstead

How were the Myrtle Beach courses you played, like the witch, etc?

2015 was a great year for me for new out-of-state courses. I'm getting married in September of this year, though, so we'll see how that changes going forward!

I love myrtle for what it is, nice weather, I'm from PA, and good relatively cheap golf on good, not great courses.

I have never been disappointed. Some courses I could take or leave. My recommendations: wild wing Avocet, Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen, Long Bay, both Myrtlewood courses, Barefoot courses, Dunes and Grande Dunes and Pine Lakes. I like the Big Cats up into NC and the Legends. Never played the Caledonia true blue courses. My favorite cheap course, Arcadian Shores.

There are a gazillion courses in that area, and it's hard to pick out a handful to play when we're in the area. So far I've played True Blue (cool course, brutally difficult when you're out of season!), River Club, Plantation, Heritage and the Tradition. Been a while since I've been there, but friends always mention it as a potential buddies trip. Would love to check out Grande Dunes and the Barefoot courses sometime!

Thanks for the response - any Spring trips on the docket for this year?

@wiscogolfaddict, yes I do a trip every March and most years a fall trip. It's a great deal. I'm playing 6 rounds for $300 and my round trip flight is $108. Now that I think I'm probably sitting on the wing.

I was looking at Ginella's top 50 courses you can play. i think he had three from Mrytle Beach. From all,the reading I've done here I didn't think there were that many really good courses there. Although I put very little stock in what he says course wise. He appears to me to be a course "name dropper", almost all of his list is from resorts or heavy golf areas.

We would really like to try it there sometime, we've never traveled east to play and there appear to be so many choices.

I had a phenomenal year. 'Looks like I'm in the running for most new courses played. I finished the 2015 season with a personal best 110 rounds, starting with my first round on January 15th, and finishing with a local round in Chicago on Christmas Day.

I played 67 different courses this year in 8 states (Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Florida, Ohio, and Mississippi). Of those, 45 were first time visits.

2015:

Blue course @doral

Streamsong blue

Newport national

Great river golf club (not famous but one of the best courses in CT)

2016 will be a good year:

July-

St. Andrews (jubilee, new, old)

Crail Balcomie

Turnberry

Troon (not playing but will be there to see the Open)

Kingsbarns

May-

Monterey/San Fran trip for my 30th, not sure which courses I'll play yet but Pebble/Spyglass will be on the list.

This year I'm going to make it a point to play both Bethpage black and Trump Ferry point. I'm only a couple hours from each so I think I'll be able to get it done..

Sabram, a great list for this year. Glad to see Ravenwood on there, and loved the photo tour. I can't tell you how many times I have looked up your course tours to get a feel for the course before booking, so a BIG thanks.

What was your overall impression from Ravenwood? I played it a couple of summers ago and walked away really enjoying the course.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the nice comment. It was my first visit to Rochester as a golfer. Just about every golfer in that area that I asked recommended Ravenwood and I wasn't disappointed. The Rochester area has a reputation for good public golf options. My son recently moved there so I'm looking forward to visiting him and other courses. Did you play Greystone when you were there? I may play there on my next visit.

I hate to burst your bubble but #3 at Ravenwood is a par four so not an eagle as captioned in your original post, still a nice birdie though.

2015 I only played 3 courses about 5-6 times each. But I hope to play all 7 in my city and 4 good courses within an hour from the city.

I hope to play Bully Pulpit in Medora North Dakota, it's kind of the quintessential golf course that North Dakota is known for. But I am planning on hitting up a few course in Minnesota and Manitoba. So my 2016 golf course year in review should be ROCKIN!
