Tonto Verde

I played Vista Verde back in early 2010. Didn't the course get renamed Tegavah, and more recently Verde River? If so, this isn't the same as Tonto Verde, correct?

Is Tonto Verde worth a visit? It appears that they are in the process of going private, but have public tee times available. I've pretty much played all the top end courses in the area, and am looking for an alternative during my trip next week.

Correct. Tonto is almost across the street. You have to get a temporary membership to play it.

I played the Peaks course only and it was a great layout and challenging from the back tees.

You do not need that membership-they are on Golf Now.

depends what you consider flat? But in general not that flat...the property is built on a valley..so many elevations changes...just subtle.

and it is the other way around...the Tonto Verde club is private but offers public times.

Neither is a destination course...but they are not bad.

Do you have a list of the "high-end" courses you've played...maybe you are missing some we could suggest.

I've played all the bucket list courses in the area except TPC Stadium, which is closed while I'm there. The list includes We Ko Pa (S&C), Quintero, Boulders (N&S), Troon (P&M), Grayhawk (T&R), Southern Dunes, Papago, Raven at Verrado, Talking Stick North, Legends Trail, Wildfire (P&F), Gold Canyon Dinosaur, Eagle Mountain, Sunridge Canyon, TPC Champions, Longbow, Lookout Mountain, and Whirlwind Cattail.

I'll be playing GC of Estrella, Camelback Padre, and Silverado this trip. The latter two I'm playing with my once-a-year nephew, so I generally go cheap for the middle two rounds.

Still on the to-do list are Camelback Ambiente, Las Sendas, Gold Canyon Sidewinder, TPC Stadium, Whirlwind Devils Claw, and Orange Tree.

If you are including Orange Tree and Silverado...then GCU and Aguila are far better choices; Plus Copper Canyon

If you have the time get out to one of the two Wickenburg courses listed here. Wickenburg Ranch and Los Caballeros you will not beat imo.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time for a trek to WR and LC this trip, but I've added them to my list for next year. It seems that Tonto Verde only has public tee times in the early morning, and after lunch, which doesn't quite fit into my schedule. I decided to head out to We Ko Pa to play the Cholla course, as it's been 8 years since I've played it. I'm staying near Scottsdale, so it's a fairly short cruise over there.
