I played Witch at Pumpkin on Saturday and the greens were running as fast as I have ever played....13+ on stimp....

 

The course is in great shape.

They're getting ready for the Oregon Amateur Championship on the 19th.

 

Playing Witch tomorrow, can't wait to experience the greens.

Does anyone know how far out Langdon books tee times on their site? Trying to look for times for the second weekend of July when I'll be in town. I tried looking but it seems scattered even with a week out. I'd assume this course gets a lot of play and not every day is available? TIA.

Two weeks out, I believe.  Langdon Farms does a lot of outside tournaments this time of year, so don't be surprised to see days within the two week window with no tee time availability.

Played Rose City yesterday and the course was in really nice shape.  Greens were a bit slow, but otherwise quite nice.  Rough was recently mown and still fairly thick and chewy from the spring growth period.  Really glad we can start to get out and enjoy the munis now.

Been playing nice. Greens slower than heron and east moreland bit overall better than its been in a long time.

Played langdon today for the first time in a long while. Despite light showers all round and the windy sideways downpour on 8 and 9, it played really well. Always a top draining course. well worth the rate on a day like this. Well done to the crew!

 

back to the portland park munis tomorrow.

Though not necessarily a fan of MLB or baseball or redtail as a course for that matter, i would very much be dissatisfied with the city if this deal went through for a number of reasons.

Have the MLB drive on 217 around rush hour and they’ll move on to another site/city.

Traffic would be horrible. I am surprised they are considering that location due to existing traffic issues.

The current construction of the "butterfly ramps" is a joke too. I can't believe they didn't add more full lanes...

I havent played east moreland since summer, though ive heard some good things about how it has played all winter - despite its reputation being muddy and how wet it has been. Has anyone played it in the last week with the rain weve had and what have your experiences been?

 

heron lakes blue was water logged yesterday, but much less muddy than i expected. There are still plenty of muddy spots but they have certainly poured a lot of sand in the fairways.

 

the goose poop though. Thats another story. 18th green was full of crap. Not a line from the from a 5ft radius to a back pin location had a line without going through poop.

Played OGA yesterday and the course is in wonderful shape.  Greens have recovered from aeration and are rolling really nice.  Fairways are dry and running.  All the drainage work over the last nine months has healed and is barely noticeable.  Won't really know until next winter how much better the course will play in the rain, but the work was extensive and I'm optimistic we may be able to add OGA into the winter rota.

 

Construction of homes continues, but doesn't affect play, save for any noise from machinery.  The overall change in appearance is significant, as a lot of the natural areas that were bordering the course have been removed.  This is especially apparent on the back nine, where most of the homes are being built.  The whole area is a lot more open feeling now.

Played Stone Creek yesterday and I have to say the course is in the best shape I can recall. Don't know if they've made any changes to the team or not, but things are dialed in like I've never seen out there. The greens are wonderful.

Played at Langdon a couple weeks ago and the greens were magnificent and almost up to Summer Speed (read: fast!).

 

That'll be the last round there for a bit, as the green fees went up starting June 1.  They were already pushing the edge at $79 for a Farm Card holder, but $96 just made Langdon into a once a month course vs. once a week.  They must really want to reduce the amount of play...

Yep, Farm Card rate.  That's a 20% jump from pre-June green fees.

 

That's the Fri-Sun rate til after 12 or so.  Weekdays are still $79 for mornings

Yeah, I'm feeling the increases. I'm not a Farm Card holder, but it's been a regular spot in my rotation for many years. But $100 for a weekday round is out of my budget. Reserve is similar.

Fortunately, we're into the time of year where there's lots of other good public golf options.  Played last week at Heron Lakes Blue and the course was in decent shape, bunkers notwithstanding.  That's the one thing they could do that would really improve both courses.  Other than building a new clubhouse...
