Hi Jason,

Here on GolfWRX there is a lot of talk about how far you guys hit it. My question is the opposite.

As you get closer to the hole, how often do you take something off the short irons and wedges? Flight it down or control spin, I imagine it is most of the time, but would like to hear your answer.

Thanks for doing this! Best of luck this year!

Great question...

The closer I get to the hole, the less of a full swing I'll actually take. I hardly ever make a full swing from a seven iron down. I always want to control spin, especially in to back pins. The only time that I will ever take a full swing is if there is a front pin and I am trying to spin something back towards the hole. But, I'm absolutely sure that I have enough club to cover the front number, or else I'll just play past the pin and try to make a 15 footer.

Jason... Thanks for the time here on WRX. Hope Greg is at his best behavior. I think it is past his bed time.

1. Can I ask if you know your numbers on trackman what they are for your driver? Path, face, speed, angle of attack etc... I thought you might know them.

2. Also what did the Rogue 125 do that other shafts could not?

3. Ask Greg to give you one of our WRX credentials!!! I would die if I saw that sucker on the bag!

See you out there with Greg soon!

Jason,

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and chat with some golfwrx'rs. My question is a little off the Callaway product line but still pertains to golf. Can you tell us how you came to own that very treasured Ping Anser putter? The one you used during the Wyndham Championship! By the way congratulations on that 2nd place finish @ the Wyndham and signing on with Callaway Golf. I wish you a healthy, happy and successful 2016 and bright future with Callaway golf. Thanks again for taking your time with us today.

PS: also I'd really like to know all the particulars of the putter i.e.: head weight, loft and lie angle.

Thanks Holy Moses for catching my mistake!

So I'll try this again: Jason here's my new question,

I see from looking at reading later posts i this thread that my question has already been answered. Since that is the case and you seem like a very honest guy, I see you stated you sought out Callaway and you wanted to play their equipment. My question is since you once were a PING guy did you look into PXG at all since most of this new equipments companies top guys are former Ping guys?

Thanks again,

Tim

Hi Tim!

Thank you for your interest! The honest truth about the Scottsdale Anser... I bought it off eBay. Well, there ya go! Lol. I've always wanted one, so, Like every other club junkie, I turned to the ole' world wide web. Found one on there, and bought it. I really wish it had a better story than that. But, it doesn't. I couldn't tell you what the head weight is and all that. I do know that it is 70.5 degrees and has 3.5 degrees of loft. Other than that, I have no idea. And, no... I never tried any of the PXG stuff. Once I tried the Callaway stuff, I knew that was what I wanted. Thanks for your questions!

Who is the funniest guy on tour?

Thanks for your time and good luck this week!

Funniest guy on Tour... Well, there are a lot of them! I've been buddies with Pat Perez since junior golf and the guy kills me. He comes up with some of the most random and funny things I've ever heard. Plus, our knowledge of useless 80's music and movie quotes will put almost anyone to shame (including ourselves), so we tend to crack ourselves up as well. So, we may think its a lot more funny than it actually is... but, so be it.

Hey Jason,

Dominic Scaletta here, I am a 13 year old junior golfer from Illinois, I am currently #1 in the state. I have a handicap of 0 and have won over 100 tournaments. My question is, how much did you practice when you were a kid and now as a PGA Tour pro. Also what type of drills or training aids have paid off for you the most?

Jason,

Thanks for taking the time to answer questions. With a change to new irons and wedges, how much time/practice does it take you to feel comfortable enough to put into play? Since the recent change in equipment, do you find any difference in preference to control distance (with irons and wedges) via trajectory or spin?

I second this question. That's the one thing I always am curious about. How long does it take you when swapping out entire bags of gear, to acclimate. How long did it take this time by moving the to Apex Pro and XR16 driver.

(credit to Mitchell on this one - I don't need to be entered in the giveaway, I just want to hear the answer to the above question)

Since both of you guys want to know... Lol

It does take a little time. I'll be honest. There are two speeds that we actually play at... Practice speed and game speed. As hard as we try to make them the same, that doesn't always work out. So, you really don't know until you actually get in to a tournament situation to know if the club is good or not. I loved my driver shaft in the offseason and in practice, but when I got to game speed I hooked it. That means that it probably wasn't stiff enough. My shaft wasn't tipped before. Now, I have the same shaft that is tipped 1 inch. It's just a constant tweaking and dialing in until everything is just right. Also, there is a lot of honesty involved too. Just because I hit one bad shot, I can blame it on equipment, but it was probably operator error. I believe the Callaway equipment I have right now is great and that any screw ups are on my end. Which is humbling... But the truth.

Hey Dominic!

How are you! Keep up the great work! I've always loved to practice so it was never difficult or me to spend hours out there having fun and grinding. I always tried to play games. I always wanted to keep it fun. There was a time in my career where it just wasn't fun anymore. I know this is my "job" but I never played golf for money. I played golf because I loved the game. The money was just a cool byproduct of my hard work. Always have fun. Keep challenging yourself. And, let me know when you turn pro so I can retire. I don't want to keep getting my (you know what) kicked by all you kids! Lol. Good luck buddy!!!!!

What's up Jason, thanks for taking the time to answer these questions!

1. Do you set goals for each season and what are some of the goals you set for yourself before you tee it up for a particular season?

2. What's your brightest moment in your PGA career?

3. If you could play a 4-some with 3 other guys on tour, who are they?

Jason,

What percentage of the touring pros still enjoy "playing the game" as opposed to "it's just a JOB now?"

I didn't read this question before I answered the last one...

I can't really answer that... I'm not sure. Everyone looks so miserable all the time anyways. (I'm kidding...) I would say most still love it, but not sure. I hope most still love it!

Good evening Jason G. Big fan. I have a putter question. I notice that you went back to your old school dalehead ping putter. With all the technology of today with scotty camerons and other putters you have access to. Why do you go back to this putter and have you tried to have the same design made for you? Thank you

Jason hope you play well this week my friend, I enjoyed watching you play at Sedgefield in the Wyndam this past year. You played great!

My question for you is, which do you want more: The Green Jacket and a Masters win OR to play on the Ryder Cup team and win?
