If I were Adam I would find another full time caddie and move on. Seems like too much of a distraction. Caddies take themselves too seriously.

It's cool that Stevie took caddying to the next level. It's unfortunate that many people who "achieve" much in this life have narcissistic tendencies.

I empathize both with Na and his fellow competitors when he's been going through these mental hiccups. I think Na made the focus on the fact that Stevie is "just" a caddie and if it were to be addressed it should be by Adam himself, and that is a distraction to the fact that regardless of Williams' role in the competition he was plainly very rude to Na and that's the issue.

im usually the first one to take up for caddies...BUT Williams needs to pick up the bag and STFU! He is simply "cashing in" 10 minutes of fame...and I think the time is up... don't like people like him who are in a certain position of privilege when it comes to info... When"in" like that and get out...code of a gentleman dictates that you keep your trap shut... Should be like the Mob ...shut up or be shut up for good.... Best thing that could happen would be Scott firing him and maybe nobody else picking him up.

Idiot, absolute idiot.

The fact that someone with a 'talent' for carrying a heavy bag is as rich as he is is a pretty damning indictment on the state of the world in 2016. Can't we all just agree that his opinion is as worthless as a chocolate tea pot and leave him to it. He'll eventually start an argument with himself and then at least we won't need to listen to him speak out of his backside anymore.

Williams has had a remarkable career as a caddie and may have earned the right to voice his opinion but he would be better served to keep it to himself. He obviously doesn’t need the job so it is of little consequence (other than his reputation) that he burns bridges with other players. Adam on the other hand has many years left and I would think needs the stability of ONE solid caddie and not the turmoil that comes with Steve. It is in the end Adam's decision.

Stevie had a remarkable career because of Tiger Woods, not the other way around so he hasn't earned anything. He should shut up and carry the clubs.

I always thought that Steve did a good job and helped Adam to improve but given his average at best results last year, if Steve isn't going to be carrying the bag every week, what's the point?

He probably is a very good caddy at the end of the day, but incidents like the one with Na are just idiotic. He's the caddy...he's not on the tour. It's like a shooting coach trash talking NBA players from the sideline. You just look like an idiot, and he's probably too self absorbed to realize that. On his worst day Kevin Na is a better golfer then Steve Williams, he should shut his mouth. If watching Na bothers him he can quit no one will miss him

On the highest level of the top 0.001% of the profession, a caddy most certainly can make a difference. This is the only person interacting with an elite athlete during 16+ hours of competition. There is no level of intimacy between a support staff and athlete on that level in any other sport. The dude stands 5 feet from his competitor at all times and sees every nuance of every shot.

I'm not defending Williams or really caring, but in a game that is 90% mental and 50% physical, you better have the right kind of person on that bag. It can't be just anyone...

Tiger doesn't win any of his "injury" rounds without Stevie's adjustments. Go ahead, tell me why I'm wrong.

Tiger could have won just as many during that stretch with my mother in law on the bag, He was in the freakin zone.

I had this same thought while reading this thread. When Tiger won the Masters in '97 no one dreamed a professional golfer could be as famous as he would be by 2002. Stevie is an aggressive dude and that was a huge advantage when folks crowded Tiger or smuggled a camera into a tournament. He let that aggression boil over with Kevin Na, but it's not protecting Scott but rather it's an embarrassment to him.

Did you watch the entire 18-hole Mediate/Woods US Open playoff in 2008?

I did, and Stevie certainly earned his pay that day.
