Callaway golf preowned free shaft with driver promo

Contacted callaway about my purchase. I dont want to nit-pick but I paid a few bucks more to get like new and there are 2 IMO large marks on the crown and multiple scuffs around the edge of the driver that would IMO fall into "very good" If I were to guess this most likely happened during shipment with not the best packaging in the world. With the extra shaft just laying in there with the head and the head not protected by the included headcover.

I wonder how many 815 Alpha and DBD heads we will see on the BST after this? I'm sure a few people just wanted the AD DI/oban quality shafts on the cheap.

If I ordered very good and got my head I would be happy. But I ordered like new and I expected it to look pretty darn like new. I have heads that look better than this (outside of face marks) that I have had for years. due to keeping a headcover on it. This wear looks bad for poor shipping. I dont know why they couldnt ship it with the headcover on it. It only makes sense to do so.

I thought the same thing. Headcover just sitting beside the driver. They put my spare shaft in a separate bag and faced the tip the opposite way so I wasn't too worried.

Got it to work as long as the shaft price is less than the actual driver.

 

XR Driver with Diamana Ilima shaft ($250) and got a FREE AD DI shaft...I'll take it. I admit you can probably find the XR a bit cheaper on ebay but two premium shafts plus the head for $250 doesn't sound TOO bad.

 

CPO has been running some seriously awesome deals lately. I keep getting email ads from them offering discounts and specials. One of the best ones was a discount on hybrids. I got a Like New X-Hot Pro 20* for $35 shipped! And their CS remains second to none.

If it wasn't for the spots on the crown that can be seen when the light hits it I could live with the ones along the bottom.

 

They shipped me another and sent me a ups label to return my other.

Well at this point I guess like new means it has marks on the crown. Both heads look like they have been in a bag without a headcover and banged into each other. Not bad marks but there are marks that the light hits and can be seen.

Had similar experience with the alpha 815 3 wood a couple weeks ago. Didnt get what i paid for so they sent me a replacement that was in even worse shape. Starting to wonder if they go through these. Both clubs were demo clubs. Wonder if they brought them in from retailers and just listed them as new automatically. They made it right. But my experience plus some of the others are starting to make me less confident in them.

 

Like i said, they made it right. But, i don't want to have to worry about this nonsense every time I buy a club. They have great deals and will continue to do business with them for the time being.

Ughhh, I was so pumped to get my like new 815 Alpha driver today in the mail. Unfortuanatly, this is what the face looked like. This is very unlike CPO. There are a bunch of us with this problem now.

 

 

 

P.S. thats a top notch ball mark there too!!

These reports are so strange. I've ordered a dozen clubs or more I'm like new condition and they've all arrived still in plastic or completely unblemished. And I've never had anything except the bending government backwards to make right any errors (wrong flex, etc. ). Wonder if they're are internal corporate changes in place or just a run of bad clubs they're trying to move. Either way, I hope it gets addressed as they are my go-to pre-owned shop.

Yeah, it's surprising me too. I've actually always had such good luck ordering through CPO that I've gone to ordering most of my clubs in "average" condition, as I experimented with that grade a couple of times and got things that, to me, were basically like new. Did the same a couple of weeks ago during this free shaft promotion for my backup 815 Alpha and got another "average" graded club. It looks like it has a little bit of shop wear on it, that's it. Hard to imagine it's ever even hit a ball. If I can get this condition of a club at "average", there's no need in me paying the higher prices for the "better" condition clubs.

That does make mine look like new. Mine are back on there way to callaway and I am awaiting a refund.

I also jumped on the free shaft deal (VC tour spec 6.2) and ordered the DBD in 'like new condition'. Came with scratches and a paint chip on the crown. I emailed Callaway and told them I would barely grade it as average. To their credit, a replacement was shipped immediately. The replacement still isn't what I would call 'like new' but it's good enough to hang on to. The replacement also came with a head full of water. Extra weight transfer I guess. One other semi issue, the free shaft didn't come with the proper tip. Annoying but easy enough to take care of. I guess these are the issues we deal with on the hunt for bargains.

I'll pile on, but I just got a fairway wood from CPO listed as standard length, and it ended up being 0.5 short of standard. Yes, customer service took care of me, as usual, but disconcerting that their QC seems to be slipping

Got mine today...... It has a pin top size chip on the top face edge(don't notice it at address), and had one ball mark on the crown which I was able to take off with a little clay bar and polish. Looking forward to hitting it.

Bummer to read this. I just got a putter from them today and it has a dent in the face. Any other place on a putter wouldn't bother me. I hope the fairway wood I have coming on Friday is actually like new.
