I'm playing those " knockoff " Vegas. Lol. Or so I'm told they are knockoffs on a regular basis by the un initiated. And ew. They aren't chrome either.

I always loved Maseratti. Growing up in Wyoming, as a child, my friends thought I liked a make believe car.

Kyoei - Maseratti.

I plat MacGregor MT Pro CMs, the last quality sticks from Mac. Nobody bought them and MacGregor foundered.

Hey chopper, what are you hitting there?
Callaway Rouge Sub Zero 9°
TM SLDR S 17° 4-wood
Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 21° driving iron

Dynacraft (?) 24° 4-iron
Titleist AP2 710 5-pw
Wilson FG Tour PMP 52, 56, 60°
Rife 460 Tour Blade

After how long does being "out of form" turn into "a bad golfer"?

I play a set of Nicklaus High CT irons I bought back in 06-07, first set of irons I ever bought. I've never seen anyone else play them and can barely find reviews online or sets for sale on ebay. I'll probably replace them soon with a player's set but no way I'm getting rid of them, just so easy to hit and consistent in terms of distance and flight.

I used to play Nicklaus HCT irons too! The ones with the funky orange black and white badge in the cavity - loved them. Nicklaus was such an underrated iron maker. The Polarity HP irons were great too - I'd probably still be playing them if only a conventional 4&5 iron had been available rather than the hybrids my set came with.

From what I've read here the R9 TPs got a pretty bad rap when they came out, but I'm on my second set of them and am hitting it as good as ever.

Buddy of mine still plays them. They actually have stayed pretty mint looking also. Good clubs.

I also have a friend who plays them and still loves them. I thought they were great clubs. I loved the black, stealth look.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have obtained a full set of NGC Controller R&B blades with the chamois grips and graphite shafts. They don't correct my hook when that sometimes happens, they are not longer than my CB (cheap brand) irons, and they don't make me a better player, but I love them because they remind me of what I had to put up with back in the 70's. Easy to question the claims, hard to fault the workmanship.

Current Bag:

TM R7 425 driver 11.5

Cleveland Launcher #4 wood

Cobra King Hyper Steel #7 wood

BB Heavenwood # 9 wood

Titlelst DCI Black O/S irons 7 8 9 W SW, Lovett chipper

McGregor putter

Titleist Tour Soft balls

During the first few years I was learning golf I had a set of Spalding Cannon Advance.

Butt ugly, however they were effective.

PXG 0311T.......are they classified as "notorious" at this point?

TBH, with all the threads that have cropped up the past couple months, this thread title should be changed to "PXG Iron Players in Here!" ;)

Always thought they were very underrated, then they turned into a licensing only company and quit making clubs. Clay Long was the Nicklaus designer if I remember correctly. He's now at TM, did the TP wedges.

I have always played clubs I liked the look or feel of, what a bunch o people idk or will ever see has no influence on me......I have to play them and hit them so why would it even matter what others use......I actually trust my own judgement when looking for equipment, lol....I usually ends up being a club many use because we are all limited to what's available, I have disliked many clubs though after playing that whole world thought was best.....have learned to try and be as neutral as possible with emotions as well, emotions have tricked me more than once into getting something that was not necessarily a good fit as I am sure many others have as well.........but each golfer should believe in himself and judgement above anything else....in game where confidence is everything you certainly must know what you want or need......my current favorite is 588 cb which never even was a blip on radar......bottom line too is they're all very good and produce more similarities than differences....they will all produce far better results than 99% of us even have the skill for so generally it's operator error if things go south.....haven't hit an iron yet the was poor, I may have not cared for certain aspects but that's just me not club
