Do you let other people hit your clubs?

The answer is no. What can anyone really learn from one swing of any club. Its pointless. Demo at a place you can try several swings with a club.

I tend to bring some Oddities to the Range and when people are friendly and ask hey you mind if I take a swing? I usually say go right ahead.

See I guess I am different. I actually try to get people to hit my driver fairway and irons.

And especially my putter as its one of a kind.

 

I don't care if there is a mark. If there is one, it probably came from me. As my driver is the most unpredictable club in my bad. 270 down the middle followed my a duck hook ob followed by a hug block with a 10 yard cut.

My friends, sure. Strangers, hell no. You never know when a guy is going to over swing and end up snapping a shafts but hitting the dirt a foot behind the ball.

 

The exception is my putter. Not much can go wrong there. Once in a while a guy asks "can I try that putter" or "shoot, I left my putter in the bag on the cart."

Love being a lefty just for this reason alone. I am very rarely ever playing with another lefty so I don't get asked.

With strangers... Heck no... And I couldn't imagine asking a complete stranger to use equipment... just my personal $.02

 

In terms of others... My two brothers and one of my best friends... All of who are 2-4 index .. no problem.... Although in general we stay away from each other's woods out of unspoken respect... Especially since a few years ago hitting my brothers driver the shaft broke at the hosel.... And yes even though it was random happenstance I still shelled over some cash bc I felt awful

I let a buddy of mine Borrow for a round my Brand new Ping ISI driver many years ago. He was playing in a tourney and wanted to borrow it. He's around a 7 handicap so no worries. He brings me back a shaft and said the head flew off on a tee shot into a Pond. I was crushed. He made it right and found me a new one. This was also almost 20 years ago now and it wasn't his fault, but still feel a pit in my stomach whenever I let people hit my clubs.

Anytime I let somebody hit my clubs they either drop them or put marks out on the toe. I really try to not let people hit my clubs. Unless its a good buddy of mine. I am not a great golfer but I am very particular about my clubs. Like Olazabal crazy.

I let my teammates hit my clubs, who are all between 0 and 3 handicaps. Other than that, absolutely not.

My playing partners can hit my irons, wedges, putter and maybe my driver depending on which one; but definitely not my fairways!

 

Never be the guy at the range that walks up and says, "Oh wow, is that the new xyz driver, mind if I try it out?"
