Vegas- 36 holes in one day

I have one full day in Vegas for golf and I plan to play two rounds at different courses. Was planning to go to Pauite but one course is shut down and another is hosting a tournament. So I'm looking for new option.

 

The courses need to be within a 20 minute drive of each other.

 

I want to play a course I haven't visited yet. I've played TPC LV, Reflection Bay, The Legacy, and Bali Hai so those are out plus Paiute. Not paying 250+ for Wynn, Shadow, or Cascata. Don't have time to get to Mesquite.

 

My thought so far is Stallion Mountain in the morning and grab a twilight time for $100 at Royal Links.

 

Anyone know what the conditions are now at Stallion and Royal?

 

Anyone have a better combination of close by courses?

The Revere has two courses, they are supposed to be pretty good.

Check out Boulder Creek - not sure if there is another course close by, but there should be.

Bummer about not heading to Mesquite - Wolf Creek and Conestoga would be quite the day!

Is Primm Valley too far? It is a little closer and an easier drive (if staying on the strip) vs. Mesquite. Plus you would have no drive between rounds. I've played there a few times, although it's been several years, and have always had a very good experience.

Played Stallion a couple of weeks ago, it was good for the $23 rate considering the tee boxes were painted green and there was no rough along fairways.

 

Played Royal a month prior to that, pretty much same conditions minus the paint. You could also look into Desert Pines as an alternative.

A one stop 36 would be Revere or Primm. Played both back in January and conditions were good at both, not immaculate but not WTF either. Average winter conditions. The days I played Primm they didn't have both courses open, so that may be worthing finding out. Of the two I prefer Primm, but if the 30-40mins to Cali is too much you can't go wrong with Revere.

 

Going with two different facilities, another option would be Revere & Rio Secco. Both are in the same neighborhood so you can cover the distance between the two in minutes. I haven't played RS recently, so I'm not aware of current conditions. However, the times I have they were not an issue. As to which 18 at Revere is preferred, I'm not really partial to either however The Lexington course seems to get more pub than The Concord.

 

It's all about options. Boulder Creek and Spanish Trail are both 27 hole facilities, so if you'll have a repeat nine but you'll stay place. I can't comment recent conditions at BC, but I'll be playing there soon and I'm not worried about it. STCC is solid, played there recently. Two nines are overseeded & green while the third is OS'd in tees and inside like 30 yards. FW & rough is dormant bermuda and doesn't affect playability, just not so pleasing to the eye.

 

Finally, I played 36 yesterday starting at 9a and took a break for lunch and finished the back 18 at 5:30p, so the warmer morning temps and longer days are making 36/day without rushing possible again. So you got that going for you. Enjoy your day and let us know how it goes.

One of the courses are Revere will be shut down for maintenance so that's out. Primm Valley said they are not doing work on the courses until May so that's definitely an option.

 

The 27 at Boulder Creek looks nice. Would anyone recommend the 27 there over the 36 at Primm?

 

Anyone been to Highland Falls and Palm Valley at Summerlin? How does that compare to Primm or Boulder Creek?

Not sure if it's still relevant or not, but I made it out to Boulder Creek this weekend. Conditions were solid. Fairways are green and tight. Rough is dormant and had a mix of tight and thick lies. Greens were firm, but had held decently. They're getting some poa infiltration, but didn't seem to dramatically affect the roll. Bottomline, it was good enough where I wouldn't think twice about going there to play tomorrow.

Those are the cheapest dumpiest courses in Vegas.

I'd have to agree with kg92lefty. Dumpy courses but my main problem was the rude staff after they were behind 45mins on our tee time. On a weekday! Bears Best is awesome. I'd play that twice any day. Too bad about Paiute. Both of those courses are great tracks.
