Nike Vapor Fly Pro Irons Thread

I like the black finish. I'd actually like to murder out the entire bag. Grips, shaft and all. I'd go with red numbers and a red swoosh. I like my stuff looking nice and I doubt any finish would hold up over time, that and money to customize stops me. But that aside, I really like my clubs and with my ability it's the perfect set. I would recommend to anyone.

Anyone play the XP 115 in X-100 flex in these irons? I currently have C-Tapers in 130X and they are great for me save when I'm tired near the end of a long day/round or just fighting it too much. I'm really interested in the XP 115 shafts as it is still in the stock offering range the irons were designed around.

does anyone make black, steel shafts? or only graphite?

KBS has a black steel custom shaft. True Temper also has one.

grabbed a set w/ stock XP 95 S300 shafts @ the Golfsmith liquidation sale. I'm enjoying them so far, but for some reason I seem more prone to shanking the occasional shot off the heel with these than with my VPCs. I think the black finish looks awesome, but I don't expect it to be pretty for too long as it's already starting to wear pretty significantly after a couple range sessions. It's a shame we don't have any more Nike offerings to look forward to :(

am I doing something wrong? my vfp's don't show bad wear...at least not what I'd consider bad. and I've played around 30 rounds on them plus lots of range sessions. the 7/8 show the most. I carry a damp towel and wipe after each shot while I'm walking or while driving to the next shot. and clean them after the round.

Yeah, you need to drag them on the cart path

depends on your definition of bad. let's see a pic?

Just got back from range. Excuse the dirty-ness

What are using the sidewalk for the driving range?

they were marked $340 "after all discounts taken" but they rang up as $270 and the cashier didn't care

Whats up fellas. Just an FYI, these are on Nike Clearance on Nikes website, and use promo code legend25 for 25% off. Brings them to $375.

Im looking for some help. Im an ok player, just really started getting into golf this summer. Last few years ive probably played 4x a summer. Last year probably 25. If i had to give a handicap I'd say low 20s. The irons i currently have my dad bought me when i was 19, so about 12 years ago. Just a set of maxfli's from dicks. I hit them pretty good, I slice my driver, but have always hit my irons pretty straight. Ive also barely ever swung any other ones, so im wary of buying a new set. But these things 1, look sweet, 2, price seems really good on that Nike clearance sale. Ideally I would go and hit 100 balls with these somewhere, but i dont think its in the cards.

I guess what I am getting at is, most of the commentors in here im seeing are < 10 handicaps, and i know these are called "pro" irons, even though from what Im seeing thats not necessarily true. Do you think for someone with a 20-25 handicap these will be ok for me? still forgiving? have to be an upgrade from 12 year old entry level maxfli's is what I am hoping.

they're pretty forgiving. i'm a high capper and I play "just fine" with them, but my handicap is mostly due to my driver, wedges, and putter. i believe that the Fly Pro are only available with stiff shafts now though, so if you have a slow swing speed, that may be a prob.

Thanks for the reply, our games sound very familiar. Half my strokes are lost muffing chips, and 3 putting. I used to slight the s*** outta the ball off the tee, since playing much more this summer ive drastically improved. My swing speed shouldnt be a problem.

if I were you, I'd pull the trigger. if you can find a show maybe with some used ones to hit that'd be good. but a quality set of clubs for the price they're going for hard to really go wrong, especially coming from a entry level maxfli set. best feeling cast clubs I've hit. they are like butter to me when you hit them flush.

Being a high-cap like you, I don't think these are too hard to hit at all. I'd put these towards game-improvement iron spectrum in the player's irons category (did that make sense?) I'd say less forgiving when you miss hit than a GI but the jacked up lofts like a GI set.

absolutely makes sense, that is what I was looking for and wanted to hear. Cant wait to hit em. Nike allows returns within 90 days (unused) so im going to call around at some golf galaxy(s) and see if they have any demos before I unwrap them and start hitting. Thanks for reply
