The Legacy Blacks have been on my radar for a few years now and they are now in my price range.

The only thing holding me back is the fact i have not seen these in person and can't find any bounce numbers.

Have yet to see a picture showing the contours of the sole. Leading edge grind.

I have the 2014 Apex Pros and love the High bounce and teardrop design of the sole just wondering how the Legacy's compare.

Don't even think about it. Just buy them. Best looking irons you could ever wish for.

They have had fantastic reviews. Some have said they are maybe one club shorter distance wise compared to most sets. I had the cal mbs and they were surprisingly long and soft. Like an idiot i sold them when i went on a GI kick.

Hardly any offset at all. I have a set 4-PW I am not gaming anymore, bought them last year. I reshafted them to the Nippon Modus 120 Stiff a few weeks ago. I kinda just want to put them in the bag and have them outside the club, cant remember how many times people has left positivt comments on them :)

Perhaps can send you some pictures when I get home if you want to see the offset for yourself.

They are a good set of clubs, I just need something more forgiving

They are not shorter than the average set. When I strike mine somewhat pure I hit them as far as my friends hit their clubs and then some even tho we are at the same physique

they have a pre-worn leading edge grind and a good bit of bounce.. offset is very minimal ,and im an offset hater so take that as a sign they have very little at all.... as for distance they are NOT short...at least not compared to traditional CB irons... overall an extremely good set of irons.... My set have the modus 130X in the 4-pw and a Aldila 105g TX graphite shaft in the 3 iron , and it is a cannon of the tee...

Thanks for the info Bladehunter. Nice to hear that an iron that is a few years old, can still perform to the standards of someone with your calibre of play. Sounds like all the boxes have been ticked in my iron spec wish list. Leading edge grind, bounce, offset etc. Iv'e been hitting a lot of irons off the tee lately and your 3 iron cannon sounds very interesting.

Do the Legacy's have a 2 piece head design or are they a one piece forging?

i honestly am not sure..ive looked around and havent found the answer yet ... they sure feel like a buttery endo forging though.. and im comparing them to a raw Vega set..so you know they are soft if i say that

They must be soft if there being compared to the Vega's. Speaking of soft i was able to hit my newly shafted [Aldila Proto by you 100s] Fourteen TC-910s today. These are a few years old but feel fantastic [Endo thailand] and were keeping up to my Apex CF-16s distance wise. Only had time to hit a few wedges today before i got rained out. The 14s are the real deal very happy.

I know this is about the Legacy Black irons, but has anyone here tried the woods, specifically the fairway woods? I've found a couple of 3-woods on sale, one with a AD-DJ 6s shaft and the other with, IIRC, AD-BB 6s shaft.

I prefer the BB shaft slightly more, but I've only hit into a net so far, so it's hard to tell. What I like about the club is the really low profile of the face, which makes it easy to hit off the deck, but it also seems to be set wide open, which concerns me slightly. Are they fade biased?

If anyone has used these fairways, I would be grateful to hear how they got on with them.

One piece Endo forged out of S20C. Almost impossible to find a 3 iron, so if you find one, jump on it, for sure.

Can't get much better than that 3 Putt. Lots of love for these Must get me a set. 3 iron might be more than i can handle.lol With all your contacts and access to high end gear for the Legacy's to be still in your bag says a lot. Thanks 3 Putt.

Funny, I didn't think about it until this thread, but every other club in the bag has rotated in and out, some multiple times, however the irons aren't going anywhere. My iron play was not the strongest part of my game, but according to my game golf stats, that's changed with these clubs (also in part due to reshafting them with Modus3 125 shafts). Now my approach game is by far the best part of my game, now only if I could say that about my putting...

Hope a set finds its way to you soon!

Club rotation seems to be a common denominator on this site. lol I have sold off quite a few sets of irons as of late and will be looking to reward self for letting go of the horde. Legacy's are on the wish list big time. Was looking at some PRGR idbls with some Modus 120s, Modus seems to be very popular shaft on GWRX. My putting woes seem to be on the mend using a Taylormade Spider OS/CB, never thought i would like that style of putter but the results are getting better every time i use it. Hopefully we will be calling you One Putt Birdie very soon.

i have to say guys, Im 5 rounds in with the legacy black and they are the best all around iron ive ever hit.... and ive owned them all ... I lucked into a 3-pw set which was a must as i play long irons well and do not get on wth hybrids... and my OCD wouldnt let me mix and match another 3 iron in ..lol .. Believe it or not they have actually lowered my ball flight a touch compared to previous irons with the same shafts , which i was looking for .. I find them very easy to work both ways , which is a must .... and they are just so solid feeling... in the past ive never found this feeling in any non MB iron... several 5-pw sets currently on ebay for good prices .. im tempted to buy oe of them as a backup set for my scoring irons .... ive not read anyone who doesnt love these

Wow very impressive commentary on the Legacy's. Just about hit the buy it now button.

How do these compare to the Razr MB's ? Had a set set of MBs and stupidly sold them.

Hey Stonewalled I have always had an interest in the legacy blacks although there are several different models I think.

As yet I have not pulled the trigger on a set. One of the reasons being I have a feeling that they would be so similar in performance to my diablo forged that it would not warrant getting a set. Perhaps this is misguided. Anyway as you say they are starting to get to a price that old hoes start to consider viable. We shall see......

i had the razr MB at the same time as the legacy , ....i compared the blade length and look at address and they are identical... same groove look etc... both designed by Roger cleveland so no real surprise there... .. the rear difference is bounce.. the Legacy has a slightly wider sole , but has a nice leading edge grind that to me makes the difference. ... forgiveness.... almost identical.... Razr MB is known for being a very easy to hit MB... Legacy black in the short irons for me was same .... in the long irons even better... the long irons are just a pleasure to hit... The other difference is feel.... The Legacy feel so much softer than the Razr MB to me.... the Razr was soft is hit middle , or heel side middle...but the Legacy feel a shade softer all over.. really quite similar to my raw vega set i just got rid of... nobody will hit these and say " i just dont like how these feel" .... hope that makes sense... in short same exact look at address as the razr , same offset , better feel and slightly easier to hit all over...

Unfortunately never had a set of the diablos, but they do look very similar to the stenson's. The price is looking good except for the USA/Can exchange rate has curtailed my ebaying. Thought you would have had 2 sets of the stenson's Oldplayer. lol

That's exactly what iv'e been wanting to hear bladehunter. Absolutely the best review iv'e ever read describing the 2 irons. I loved the softness of the MB's but i am not a single handicapper so the added forgiveness of the Stenson Legacy's will be a definite plus for me. I liked the MB's in the 6.0 shafts, not sure what's would be similar to those offered in the Legacy's. Thanks again for the great info.

I'm not sure what the standard shaft in them are. I've seen some with modus and some with s200 from Japanese vendors on Amazon and eBay. I think it comes down to personal preference. I love the modus myself. Easily the most accurate shaft I've ever played.
