PX95 Flighted changed my game. Why was their product life so short? How does the LZ differ from that shaft?

Given this is WRX: Is there a 7.0 PX LZ?

Short answer-Yes, Long Answer- Yes with a but….

We have a small sample run of the Project X LZ 7.0s we are using on tour, the launch to the aftermarket is TBD.

I've got a few questions:

1. Why has the LZ shaft taken off on tour? What benefit is it giving the pros that they don't already have? And do you see the pros sticking with it long term?

2. On the flip side, what will the LZ shaft give amateurs that they don't already have? Which players do you see benefiting most from it?

3. It seems that graphite and steel can offer the same benefits these days. Do you think that's the case? Is there a reason to use one over the other? Do you see graphite ever overtaking steel shafts on tour or in the standard population?

Thanks!!

1) Alot of players have liked the unique feel and and the ability to work the ball with PX LZ.

2) The LZ shaft does improve the amount of loading any players can see and our PFC dealers have reported increase in smash factory with amateurs they are fitting.

3) Graphite shafts have made in roads in the stock shaft market but on tour there are still very few players using them, less than 5 per week. The feel and consistency of steel still dominant the better players market. Graphite has it's place for those seeking super light iron shafts or those looking for maximum vibration damping.

X2 for the 7.0s, I love DG TT and PX but nothing is close the accuracy and control I had with the 7.0, hopefully they will come to retail...thanks again

If a player seems to be between an S300 and an X100 do you recommend soft-stepping the X100 or hard-stepping the S300? Also, would this answer differ depending on the particular shafts being considered?

It depends on a weight preference. When soft stepping the shafts get lighter than the intended spec, when hard stepping the shafts get heavier. With S300 already being heavier than X100, there would be a significant weight difference.

I play x-stiff in my woods, but have the dynamic golds in my irons at stiff. Would you recommend also going X in my irons? Do driver and iron shafts need to match in flex?

Thanks TT, the answer I got was exactly what I wanted to hear, maybe not the one my wife wanted to hear, but oh well.

I will be watching for when they become an option for Mizuno.

Thanks for taking the time, you guys are killing it right now.

Thank you! And hopefully your wife will forgive us!!

I have played project x Flighted and project x iron shafts in callaway irons in the past. I had greater success with the 5.5 project x than the 5.5 project x flighted. I am really excited about the project x LZ and wondered which flex designation you would recommend?

We would recommend using the same flex.

Hi True Temper! Thanks for taking the time to answer questions today. I am a HUGE TT/PX fan and can not get over the performance of my PX Handcrafted LZ60 driver shaft! This LZ technology has gotten me really excited (not to mention all of the success on tour) about the new LZ iron shafts! My question is would using the new PX LZ irons shafts have a significant impact on launch or ball flight? I already hit irons fairly high and don't really need help with launch... so what could I expect to see from these shafts Launch/Spin wise?

Thanks!!!

Great to hear, thanks for the support!

We really haven't seen higher launch with LZ steel, in fact it's been pretty consistent with original PX only easier to load!

What player type is the new HZRDUS TT1100 going after?

T1100 is still in the final testing phase but it is for players looking for absolute minimum spin.

Does True Temper have the cure for the hot pull to the left? If not what is the preferred snack on the tour van?

Random Tour question... any PGA guys tend to hang out in the TT/PX Tour Truck the most? Anyone tinker more than others?

HaHa! Steve Flesch was sitting here a minute ago while we were answering the chat questions. Many of the tour players come to our van for the expertise our guys can offer them.

TTS

Of late I have been hitting my hybrid with graphite shaft the best in the bag. What do you think about using the frequency from this shaft as a means to figure out the proper flex for the project x LZ iron shafts?

Frequency isn't the best way to determine the proper shaft flex. The LZ has unique bend profile and trying to use frequency could end up with an improper fit.

DB

It seems like a lot of players are "right on the line" between going Stiff or X Stiff, in this situation would you recommend going up to X or stay at S? What would the main performance differences be between playing too soft or too stiff of a shaft as far as distance and spin?

In general I would suggest going to the softer flex if you are looking for more height and the stiffer flex if you want a lower flight.

I play x-stiff in my woods, but have the dynamic golds in my irons at stiff. Would you recommend also going X in my irons? Do driver and iron shafts need to match in flex?

Drivers are lighter and longer and are swung faster so its very common to play a stiffer shaft in your driver than your irons. As always we recommend getting fit for the right shaft in all your clubs.

And that's a wrap! Our tour van is about to depart for Oakmont and we have to get back to the range. Thank you all for the great questions!!
