Finally found my Fairway Wood (TEE XCG-7 Beta) Do I buy a backup/replacement??

I have tested 3,4,and 5 woods for over a year now, from almost all OEMs. I finally bought a 16.5 degreeTEE XCG-7 Beta with the stock Matrix Red Tie for $99 (brand new).

Simply put, for me this club is MONEY!

Would you buy another one, just in case? Or, have faith that I'd find something as good or better if I need to?

Do it! I remember I fell in love with an old XCG 4 wood with stock shaft only to regret selling it.. And today I took delivery of a new CB Pro 4 wood that is very promising..

I'm in search of a cb pro u hybrid now!

Buy the backup!

Had a 16.5 TEE earlier model 3 years ago with TX shaft, way too stiff.

Accuracy and Rollout to die for.

Have had CB1, XCG3 13, XCG4 16.5. All good to great depending on shaft!

Back up is overkill. In 3 years or so something else will intrigue you.

Loved the 5 wood, so I bought the 3 and 4! I might have a problem, but now I can play different set-ups as my game improves.

Give the TEE some time in the bag. Having a backup can be just as much a mental thing, knowing that you have something else to try in the trunk of the car doesn't promote confidence in one club, whereas if you just stick with it you'll find that it'll be in the bag for quite a while. I have the tendency to do the same thing with putters, if i give myself a backup then i have the tendency to lean towards it after one or two round of bad putting.

I hear you. The intention is not to have "something else" in case I am not hitting the club well for the round. It is if it gets lost (unlikely), broken (unlikely)...

I presume the lifespan of a clubhead and shaft is not an issue given that I will probably play 18-36 holes per week, and practice a couple times a week?

I just feel that through all my HO'ing that actually finding a fairway that I love was truly difficult as compared to say a driver, irons or wedges...

I personally have found that I was never able to replicate a club that I loved. Buying a 2nd version never was the same even being the same head, shaft, grip etc. I'm sure some (read most) might be on the mental side but it just never worked for me. I once had a set of Callaway irons that I loved and wore the groves off. I bought another new set identical to the first but they always felt and played just a bit different. I decided then that when I wear out a club I love I'll just shop for a new one and hope that something newer is better for me.

The only club I keep "back-ups" of is putters and the extra ones I have are not the same putter style. For example I play a Squareback but have a Ghost Blade and a Isty Bitsy in the extra bag at home. For some reason when I get really cold with a putter I will change it up and nearly always get on a hot streak again.

No need to get a backup. In a few years just grab a different TEE on discount and I'm sure you'll love that too.

90% of my play is away from home. Flying weekly with my set was just too much of a risk. I have a travel set that is an exact replica of my home set just in case tragedy strikes. It's never bad to have a backup.

As mentioned above though, there's no guarantee that another of the same model and shaft will feel exactly the same as your gamer. So get a backup and take them both to a fitter to have them matched.
