So....tomorrow at Pebble.....2" rain and 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph.

I was already hearing weasel words earlier today about calling it after 54 holes.

I say it's supposedly a links golf course so.............make the bastages play tomorrow

and earn those big pay checks!!😄

Naah it ain't rain it is Rory shedding tears because he is getting his butt waxed. I would put up with seeing Bill Murry just to see Rory getting his butt kicked. And yes I agree make them play in the wind and rain like they do in The Open Championship.

I think DJ won this one when it was called after 54 holes one year. Funny how karma works

cause I think it was that same year when the US Open was there at Pebble and DJ had the

lead going into the final round and lost it. I think that was the year GMac won it?

Just got back from having middle eastern for dinner.  Fattoush salad, hommus + garlic sauce, and a split of chicken shawarma for the Mrs. and me.  Was very good.  There's a large middle eastern (Lebanese) population here, so restaurants are plentiful.  One of our favs in the adjacent town, and go there frequently.  Another one closer for takeout.

There's an area market (Graceland, an Elvis thing inside) that does a great Falafel take out.  Tahini sauce on the side until we get home.  They use pickled turnips on top of the spicy chickpea balls in the pita.

Also a have a significant number of Greek restaurants in the area.  So we frequent those places as well.  Greek salad and Saganaki (Opa!) to start.  Then Moussaka (with chickpeas if going meatless), Spanakopita, Lamb Souvlaki, or Stuffed Grape Leaves (Dolmas), or......   It's all good.  And healthy.

Tahini sauce rings a bell. That must have been the name of the sauce that guy put in

the falafels. Very good sauce that went well with the ingredients.

I can tell you this on shafts. Hardly ever do 2 match even in the same line out of the box. Long time ago I had a Hogan CSS driver I could bomb. It had a NVS 65 s in it from the factory. Now at the time I was doing R&D for Championship Golf in Garden City SC. They were also a Wishon dealer. I think it was the 565 MC driver they came out with. I decided to go with the same NVS shaft. We went through 15 brand new ones and never could match the frequency in my Hogan Driver. We gave up and went to my previous go to shaft which was the UST Pro Force Gold 65 stiff. It worked well in the Wishon. Never believe a shaft label or the markings on a shaft. I have seen brand new out of the box labeled like regular be on opposite sides of the spectrum as far as stiffness. That goes for steel as well as graphite. Back in the day Eli Callaway was a genius and he knew guys were getting too stiff shafts from what they needed. The RCH line of shafts were dialed down from the markings deliberately. Stiffs were marked regular and such. Just like @chisag mentioned the other week they did reverse loft jacking as in a marked 9* would be 10.5* when you checked it. Also this makes a big difference shaft kick and where it occurs on a shaft. Again I have seen brand new shafts uncut out of the box marked the same and the kick points be off from 1/32 to 1/8 of an inch. Any fitter in general worth his salt will have a frequency matching machine and use it. A lot of it also has to do on the final assembled product of shaft tipping. I learned a lot on this subject watching both of my buds (who are now retired) and reading a lot from Tom Wishon. He used to be a big contributor here on WRX until the know it all Richard Noggins started arguing and bashing him. And as always what works for me may or may not work for you or anyone else.

Like I was talking about my Callaway driver earlier. I had traded for it with the intention of pulling the shaft and putting in my Honma driver. of course I hit it to see how it works. I hit it so good and was impressed that I used that driver and like I said I have never checked the shaft or the loft or angle. Some things on my stuff I do not want to know

Interesting.  Might be what is going on with my 7 fairway.  Bought three "identical" Grafalloy PL Platinum R shafts (dirt cheap deal) to use in the V-Steel 4, 5 and 7 heads I had accumulated.  I've always liked PL shafts.  The 4 & 5 are fine, but something has been off with the 7 from day one.  Never felt right, playability off.  Struggles with realizing what I deem to be a suitable trajectory and distance.  And I've bagged a 7 metal forever, always been a trusty club.  Weird that the 7 swing weights at D4+, the other two are D1.  Something ain't right near as I can tell.

Been thinking about pulling the shaft out of the 5w (it's been replaced by something else), tip it to 7 wood length (.5" IIRC) and install it in the problem club.  See if it makes a difference.  Worth I try before dropping coin on another shaft.  Would like to get the 7 wood slot straighten out because it's a useful club for me from ~170 yards.  Those longish Par 3 holes.

Club Fitters are like mechanics, some can fix your problem and some can't.  Either way, they take your money.

I'd start by using some foot spray on the club face and see if you're hitting it out of the middle of the face. If so, I'd go back to the fitter and see if he can "set up" the club the way he envisioned when he fit you. If he built it for you or had it built off-site and shipped, people make mistakes in shaft stiffness, head loft, swing weight, etc.

This is the main reason I leave the facility with the exact club and shaft I hit during the session. It may not be a virgin or say demo somewhere, but those trivialities seem to mean a lot more to some folks than to me.

Do you still have your old driver?? Do you still it it as well as you did before the new one arrived??

I did keep the old.  It an early model TM Rocketbalz - the same one that got blasted right here in the Grille recently - lol.   The new one is a Titleist TS4 - 3.

He didn't build it - he produced it as an option during the fitting.  I had the old driver along during the fitting.  I was hitting the Titleist a fraction less dispersion and at least 10 yards farther.  So ding-dong me buys it.

I could tell it was flighting a little lower but didn't realize how much so until I was out in wide-open spaces.  The apex was topping out at 20-30 feet high.

Was for sure, hitting it mid and sometimes low on the face.  That really wasn't a problem with the old TM.

Worked hard to get contact consistently upper-mid face.   Not about to brag-post every contact is an exact carbon copy.  The centers of the contact marks would probably fit in the diameter of a 50-cent coin over 8-10 balls.

It's naturally starting to flight up some.  But I've been on the grinding wheel getting it there consistently.  Folks who know old Reason know I will absolutely dump the tanks working on my swing.   When I say it's flighting higher, we're talking still 25-50% lower than the old standby.

Three options - Keep it now that I've force-fed my way into a repeatable way to flight it up "some".  Dump it and go back to the old standby.  Turn on the blowtorch and swap the shaft.

I may work with the fitter again on wedge fittings and other things he's helped me with in the past.  But driver.... don't really see him and I doing business going forward.

Lots of Titleist driver fans here at WRX. Maybe go into the equipment section and look for

a thread(s) on this driver? Can see what others' experiences have been with the driver

and shaft combo you have. Just a thought.
