Anyone else notice that when the "Japanese news reporters" ask a question at the news conference, they ALWAYS have a second question regarding Hideki Matsuyama regardless of who they are talking to. They asked Spieth yesterday and Rory just now.

 

They do it every major. They ask each player about Hideki and what they think of him. It's ridiculous.

 

Eh - if you look at it from their shoes, writing about Hideki is what their papers / outlets want. Unfortunately, Hideki isn't going to be giving a press conference due to the language barrier. As a result, they're going to be lacking in content to publish, especially compared to their English-speaking counterparts who can write about every single press conference going on. They'll get 10, 15, or 20 Q&As from the likes of Spieth, Day, McIlroy while the Japanese audience gets none from Matsuyama.

 

The best way for them to try and generate some content is to ask specifically about Hideki.

Grace likes to sneak his way into the top 10 and make a run late, and I like that. What I don't like is Joe Buck and FS1 covering the USO. I hate that guy in baseball coverage and football coverage...he always comes off like a ******.

 

Edit: Buck always seems like a pretentious know-it-all.

Tend to agree with that. His very inconsistent tee to green play will probably get him in a whole load of trouble on this course that he can't putt his way out of like he normally does. I don't think this course and setup suits his game very well.

The USGA will do whatever is needed to protect par... if scoring gets too low they might even install a windmill on 18 green.... or just change one of the short par 4s to a par 3.

Who else loves the Spieth pressed today ? He sure cut that reporter off at the knees wit his " you are putting words in my mouth sir ". lol. And then comments on the " professionals " seeking autographs while squashing a kid. " we don't like to sigh for them anyway " . I find him to be more and more like Phil Anne it comes to press conferences. Polite but unapologetic.

I just do not understand how football/soccer can be so important in Europe and South America it is an excuse for gang violence, murders, and who knows what other kind of mayhem that 90000 cops can't handle. They ought to play that tournament on a pitch on the Isle of Man so there can be no fans watching the game on site, and just broadcast it. Or even better, put it on radio.

I'm liking Day's opportunity to win this one. He's playing lights out right now and the way the course is setup, he won't have to pull driver out of the bag. Rory's play lately hasn't impressed me that much and DJ can't putt well enough to save himself from trouble. I think it comes down to Spieth and Day on Sunday.
