What's your scorecard look like after the round?

Recommended Posts

Was just looking at an old card and thou it would be fun to see how others marked theirs up.

Numbers left of the names are handicap, asterisks are for the dots for the "garbage" stuff in our nassaus, the running totals are at the bottom are for the status of each six hole section in our big game, the and totals above keep each guys current status.

Mine looks like the day after a snowstorm on the playground at the orphanage.

OK, in reality, I make my own scorecards and print them out on 4 x 6 white notecards with Excel.

That's cool. You can customize it to have whatever columns you need.

I actually need one more row on our card. We usually have a fifth guy playing who just plays the nassaus with everyone but isn't in our bigger game. As it is, I have to use a second scorecard.

My scorecard looks very neat. I'll use the same card numerous times till it's filled up, before I switch to a new card. I only record the actual score in each space, no more no less. Add them all up & record the total (no net, no putts, etc). I know when I've putted well or not, & don't need to keep track of all the little stuff. Life is complicated enough as it is. During tournaments I'll keep putts & net or adjusted scores though, as required.

On holes I didn't par or better, I used to note which shots cost me (e.g. drive, approach & which club, chip, long putt, short putt).

The idea was to use that info as practice in the week following. Then I realized there was no pattern. I had to work on ALL aspects of my game!

I never use a scorecard, keep score in my head.

This ^^^^^

I hope you guys are filling out all those numbers and dashes and slashes and dots and negatives and positives and holy sh*t Batman, after the round? No wonder people sit their carts for 5 minutes after they walk off the green.....it takes a friggin computer to figure out you just parred the hole? Do I need all those numbers and such on a card to figure out who won and who lost the hole? You either won it or lost it, period!!

I don't keep stats at all. I don't care about stats. Stats won't lower your score, they are just more stuff to clutter the brain. I work on all my game all the time. I keep 1 number in my head, running score compared to par. I don't need a card to do this.

I have to keep a card when I play in a league game for money and need to turn one in at the end of the round.

I keep my normal stats, fw's hit, gir, up n downs, wasted shots and putts. But score wise you will see the frustration of a mid capper. I usually put together a really good nine then I realize I'm just a cpl over but like always I'll finish around my cap. Due to s big number or couple doubles in a row with a triple. Then all I'll think are the bad shots and negative thoughts for the remainder of the round

If the card you're referencing is mine in the OP, of course I fill it out as we play. It s great you can remember your score in your head. I can too when I'm playing alone. Try keeping track ofthree separate games in your head. Sometimes it isn't as simple as who won or lost the hole, period.

As to sitting on the cart for five minutes, don't think so. When it's our regular foursome we're seldom over three hours. When we add the fifth guy a slow round is 3:30.

I should have clarified in the original post. I was curious to see cards with group games going on. If you don't need to fill out a card during the round then why open a thread asking how your card looks?

Now, now. You've been around WRX enough to know that many people just want to express an opinion. Rarely are those opinions self-deprecating. Often they are "topper" types.

Yes, you're very correct. Apparently I'm a little cranky this morning. Thanks for the reminder!

I am no longer allowed to keeps score, as someone will ask where we are at on the bean count. At that point I will realize that I haven't written any scores down for the last five holes.....

But I will know exactly what my score is.

This! I beg not to let me keep score as I often do the same thing. I always know what I got on each hole but have not cumulated how well (or poorly) I'm playing; I kind of know but not completely. I was pretty sure I was even this weekend and shot 76 as I often times black out bad holes. I never ever remember what anyone I am playing with unless they tell me or hit some unbelievable shot.

Ugh. Keeping track of beans is THE WORST!

I used to track score, FIR/GIR/penalties hopefully not too many of those)/putts. I just purchased a Garmin x40. It keeps track of all my stats and stuff (except penalties) so now I'm not sure if I will even carry a scorecard.

I am a fan of a beautiful, clean, simple scorecard, especially when there are lots of 3s, 4s, and 5s on it! I have a special leather scorecard holder that I keep in my back pocket that's molded to my body (a**), and it's one of the pleasures of the game to me to pull it out and neatly mark it after each hole. I usually only do this during a tournament or special round though. Casual rounds, no. Riding in a cart, no scorecard. I don't play in a regular enough "game" to have a lot of complicated things going on. Most complicated I run into is a nassau best ball match, maybe a nassau high/low. Don't usually do the bingo/bango/bongo or poles and whales and all that. If I do, someone else keeps score.
