mizuno 2016 JPX EZ Forged

Anyone playing these, demo'd or have any real world experience with these irons? Just looking for opinions as too forgiveness, playability, distance and such.

Hi, I hope I can help with this. I had been playing Ping G25 irons, 4i through GW with CFS shafts - Regular, green dot, standard length, mid size grips. I like the Pings and shot some solid rounds with them, but always thought I was leaving something on the table distance, feel and dispersion wise. I tested a lot of different irons over the winter. The ones that stood out are the 2016 Mizuno EZ Forged, 2016 Callaway Apex CF, 2016 Titleist AP1 and AP2, Ping G30, I25 and I, XXIO Forged and Z545 irons. I tried different types of shafts - Nippon, DG, Project X, KBS and Graphite - both Reg and Stiff. Swing speed was in the mid 80's with a 6i. I really liked the EZ Forged and XXIO irons as I kept going back to these two. The XXIO irons are great, but they have strong lofts - 44* PW, and any shaft/grip upgrade would be costly. The AP1 was fine, as was the Apex, but I wasn't getting the distance and consistency from these clubs as I did from the Mizunos. The Z545 was a really nice iron, great feel, etc., but also has strong lofts and is a little big to my eye. I kept going back to the EZ forged with regular NS Pro 1150 shafts. They gave me the best combination of feel, forgiveness, distance, shot consistency and dispersion out of everything I tested. This was confirmed over multiple trips back to the store looking at the numbers, etc. I went through a formal fitting with one of the managers and ended up with the Mizuno EZ forged, 4i - GW, NS Pro 1150 regular shafts, + 1/4 inch in length, 3* up right with mid size grips. Turn around time and quality were excellent as the irons arrived within a week and were spot on to the ordered specs. There was no uncharge for the shafts or grips. I'm very happy with the set up as I picked up 1 club distance wise and feel and dispersion are much improved. They also look nice in the bag.

I had them (full disclosure, we sell them too) for about 1 week. 4-GW .25 long with KBS Tour in them. I tried to tell myself that the bottom end 9-GW looked chunky, but really I am not that good and it wasn't really a problem. I put them in 4 peoples hands at a scramble event first day out, all 4 of them came to me and offered to buy them. I sold them and thinking I would go 25 or 850's. Really wish I had kept them. They were about 1 club longer than my regular (Adams A4) irons. Will probably re order them. They are awesome.

Really hard to beat anything that Mizuno makes and with all of the no charge shaft options available to you it should be quite easy to get fit perfectly. The EZ is a very nice game improvement forged iron. I see in your signature that you have APEX forged now, so you might want to look at the 850 forged which would probably be a step forward in forgiveness for you if you think the EZ is a little to big for your eyes when looking down at them.
