Yellow golf balls

In some conditions, sun angles, cloud cover, sky color, yellow is harder to see but most of the time, yellow is easier to see.

Always cracks me up when I'm playing with people and they go to my yellow ball and thinks it's theirs and then realize their ball is white. How do you forget that?

The one I love is when you're playing a yellow ball, you've told them several times you are, they've commented on it, and yet if the group is looking for your ball, they see a white one and think they've found your ball. I get it if it's the first tee, but by 14.....

I see the yellow balls like it's a flashing neon sign! I'm glad the stigma seems to be gone from playing yellow balls since most of the top balls come in colors. I used to get crap and have people ask why I play a yellow ball. Once I flush a few drives around 300 yards I just smile and say that's why.

I could not care less. Sometimes I would pull out a pink e6, tee it up, let it rip. Then my buds would head down, see their ball (he's pretty good) and then he'll ask where's my ball. I said to him, look ahead....and then he'll see the pink ball and give me the finger. True story. I would do this with others that I don't know in the foursome but funny enough, I have yet to head someone say anything to me about yellow balls, or pink ball.

I have been playing the Srixon Optic yellow (more or a neon green) since they came out years ago and will never go back to white. So much easier to see in the air and know exactly which ball is mine on the fairway and green. Plus I'm a long hitter and always nice driving the ball up near the green and having the group on the green look back and see the yellow ball yards away....lol

One of the guys I play with plays exclusively yellow balls. While I do agree they are easier to spot in fairways most of the time, we have the hardest time spotting them in rough and near hazards when it's fall. The yellow blends in with the leaves that have fallen more so than I thought it would.

I agree with this 100%

Last month I took a one-day golf holiday with a couple buddies. We had a morning tee time, around 8:00, and it was so foggy that when we were hitting warm up balls, you couldn't see the 100yd flag on the range. I bought a sleeve of yellow NTX Tour S balls and really liked them! They were the only balls we could see as we made our way thru the first few holes.

BTW, dense fog in August in Nebraska means 100+ degree sticky heat index by noon. Played great though!

I like the newest yellow version, softer than before. But it's the most over priced surlyn ball ever.

Long time member of Team Yellowball here. I find yellow balls easier to find in the rough, which is where mine usually are. White ball + Florida white sand is next to impossible to spot. I would guess any color is easy to spot in the fairway, but I've no experience with that.

I played in the winter in South Texas, at a course where I worked in the northern "off season".

Had to be the starter one day when the colored ball thing was just beginning.

2 thoughts: The first: It was actually playing in the desert in the winter that started the colored ball craze. At that time, courses did not overseed fairways, and the white ball was almost lost in the dormant grasses, so somebody actually painted a ball orange. Now, THAT really stood out!

Second...standing around the 1st tee in Texas that cold, cold winter morning, the discussion turned to colored balls. One golfer pitched in, "I've never played with any colored balls, but today, I bet I have at least 2 blue ones"

He didn't know he was standing right next to a woman, who was so bundled up as to be unrecognizable as a female...but, she just laughed with the rest of the folks there

Personally, I can't see the orange ball as well as a white or a yellow, and I've always seen the yellow (neon, chartreuse, whatever you call it) much better.

But, as a caddy, I could never find a red tee, unless you pointed it out to me where it lay in the grass. Yellow, white, pink...no problem. Red...no way.

There's a term for that certain type of color-blindness: Deuteranopia Link here, if interested in knowing more: http://www.color-bli...olor-blindness/

I have trouble finding them in the non rough areas (hardpan and scruff) when the light is reflecting off the dew.

My only concern was if he had any issues putting with a yellow ball.

I'm surprised nobody brought this up, but I have a ton of success putting with a yellow ball and a white putter. The two colors offsetting each other, for some reason, *really* helps me aim. My sig is old (currently gaming a white putter), but when I went to the white putter + yellow ball with a line on it I started putting much much better. This is the only reason I play a yellow ball - I really like white putter + colored ball with a black line. Both colors stand out against the green and it is very easy to see where you are aimed. I actually think its a significant advantage over metal or dark color putter against white or white on white.

I'm a big fan of Stockton's putting techniques, so I'll typically line up the yellow ball with the black line on my target line with the putter still in the bag. Then I'll grab it, no practice stroke, and pop it right on the line. Its really effective to see the line in your mind's eye because the white and yellow make so clear where your putter is pointing. I'm not a 2 because of my ballstriking, and I think a yellow ball against white putter is a big reason I putt well.

Or I'm just superstitious and this is bunk lol. But I really do think its easier. If you have a white putter, try using a yellow ball with a single black aim line put on it in sharpie. It looks great and makes almost all putts look easy.

By FAR biggest advantage to yellow ball, IMO.

I have been playing with the yellow ball for some time now. These older eyes see the yellow much better than while. The only draw back is not all the balls I like come in yellow so I have to make a choice on which ball I play. The group I play in hit the ball about the same distance and having the only yellow ball I know which is mine immediately.

This. I used yellow balls for a while and could see them better. But then I realized they blend into the leaves too much. And in the rough rough I play in they arent any easier to spot than white balls, not worse, but the contrast of green/optic yellow and green/white in deep rough is pretty similar. in the air, on the fairway, sand, green, the yellow is much easier to see. but where in the places where i lose balls i dont think i should (woods or under leaves), the white is easier to spot.
