Yonex N1-CB irons are so good why no love for the Yonex brand?

Recommended Posts

Just put the Yonex N1-CB's in play with their stock offering Modus 125's. Having played everything under the sun EPON, MIURA, MIZUNO etc. I'm completely blown away by how solid these sticks are. Ball flight, feel, distance control all A+. Not sure why these sticks don't get more recognition or has YONEX just been forgotten about ever since Phil left about 20 years ago. Anybody else out there playing N1-CB's having success? It would be hard to imagine anybody who has had a chance to hit these was not impressed with how well they play.

I'm a little throw off on that insert pocket they have. Are they an MB or a Cavity? They look good. The Yonex line from irons to woods all looks really good this year. That iron set itself is right in the wheel house of price with other really great options. Personally, I think the resale throws people off. Its not an overly known brand for that price point.

yonex have basically zero presence , even in japan.

I had to double take these to see if id seen them.

they are very much an after thought as they zero advertising.

since they lost Ryo, they have been moot, prob much biger on the JLPGA than the mens.

those do look good tho,

Saw some pics of the carbon irons they made the other day on Craigslist. Can't believe there are still sets of those floating around.

I play almost a full bag of Yonex--had the Ezone PBs before the N1-CBs. They are great sticks and the N1-MBs are a great set, too. They just released the N1-W, which is a wedge that will use the same graphite insert. They haven't come to the States yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Like everybody else has said, there's just not much presence whether it's in stores or advertising. VERY underrated clubs and a brand people should consider if they're looking for a great JDM brand.

one more thing , the the ezone chiba grind wedges made for ishikawa a few yrs back , put a lot of bigger names to shame for versatility and performance/spin and feel. if u like a razor thin looking wedge , these are a must look at.

+1.

I would like to try the N1-MB blades, but I too, am a bit apprehensive given the insert pocket.

You should definitely give them a look; the insert is there to provide some vibration absorption.

I am playing the N1 MBs and they are fantastic. The undercut channel filled w graphite gives them a lower and further back cog and they are very forgiving for a blade. I think they are more forgiving than alot of players cbs I have hit. I had a set of PXG Ts and a set of Titleist T-MBs and decided to game the Yonex.

I hit the N1 CB today at the Haggin Oaks golf expo. Nippon modus tour 125 shafts and they were amazing. I tried virtually every iron there and these blew them all out of the water. Incredible feel, perfect ball flight, and incredibly forgiving. My typical iron miss is a little towards the toe and they ended up maybe 5 yards short of perfect strikes and dead on line. The insert really seems to dampen the impact to the point they felt as good as any forged club I've ever hit. The price point and resale value are definite concerns but I'm seriously considering these sticks. I honestly can't remember the last time I hit irons this good.

I recently bought a set of these fitted with Project X LZ 6.5 shafts which I immediately removed and replaced with a set of regular flex Nippon NS Pro 950H. Haven't had a chance to hit them due to the weather here but they look and sit great and have a nice, confidence-inspiring sized head. Putting them in the bag for a round on Wednesday. Not expecting immediate success as I haven't played in nearly three weeks - an eternity for me - but this is the right time of year to break them in.
