Albuquerque area public courses

I've done some searching online and haven't found much. Can you guys give me some public courses to look at while I'm in town? Thanks!

There are tons...we go there for a week every summer.

The University course is near the airport and not bad. Conditioning is an issue.

On the other side of the Sandia mountains, hit Paa-Ko Ridge, 27 holes on the side of the mountain and very, very good.

North towards Santa Fee, you have Sandia (golf and casino), good but resort style golf. Twin Warriors is a bit north of that with two courses, both very good with great views.

Black Mesa is a bit farther north and a very challenging course with wind and tough carries.

There are four or five other courses around but IMO, not nearly as good as these. For dinner, hit Sadie's. Good food, good prices and your stomach will never forgive you or forget Roberto's Special.

I played Paa-Ko Ridge, Twin Warriors, and the Championship course at UMN about 3 weeks ago, all 3 were in great shape. I would definitely put Paa-Ko Ridge at the top of the list though.

Cochiti is head and shoulders above Santa Ana(what you call 2nd course at Twin Warriors - which it's not) and Sandia.

I read somewhere that Paa Ko offers a play two rounds, get one free promotion. Said you could use it in one group/threesome/foursome. Anyone else heard this? And, is the Costco discount gift card still available?

Headed there next month, will give them a call, but thought someone might know! Thanks!

Paa-Ko Ridge was one of the more fun courses I've ever played. Twin Warriors also has good courses. Paa-Ko Ridge is for sure worth the drive.

This is on there website, you should look around at the layout of the course, too! IMO if you're gonna play it, you've gotta play 36, or at least 27 so you can see the whole course.

1-18 are my favorite I think but all 27 are good, I just think that a few holes on 19-27 are really good, a few holes that aren't bad holes, they just don't flow with the course overall. But Paa Ko is probably my all time favorite course to play. Wish I could get my buddies to join me out there haha!

Pretty sure the Costco deal is going on, like it's been going on for years now. Might even be mentioned on the website

If I remember accurately one of Paa-ko's holes (4?) has a huge green. Mis-hit your tee shot and you could have a 40 yard putt.

I used to live in Albuquerque and you guys are all spot on about the courses mentioned. Paako is just an awesome course with great views.

I definitely agree about Cochiti as that was always one of my favorites hidden out of the way and always a great price.

Just got back from Albuquerque, only played one round at Paa Ko, original 18. WOW! This course is fantastic. Beautiful setting and condition. Very fun and interesting holes. I put this course way up on my list of best courses. We got the first twilight time, 2 pm, and the sunlight toward the end of the round really made the course visually stunning. Warm temps and light to moderate winds really added to the feel. There are really nice houses spread out in the development, but they're all far away and dont take anything away from the isolated feel of each hole. Only as you make your way back to the club house do you really see any other holes. This course is a must play and repeat play for sure.
