The impact of WRX on special deals.

Was wondering about this the other day after the Global Golf Puma special, and the situation with Callaway Pre-owned where someone got a set of irons for $100( or a similar amount).

 

Someone finds these special deals and posts them here, and it seems to explode. I wonder if companies get overwhelmed by the amount of responses they get or if it really isn't that big of a deal?

 

It does seem though that often times, shortly after it gets posted here and there are numerous responses of people who jumped on the deal, the deal is no longer available. The WRX effect!?

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM 30 doz for $80. Loved that deal. I remember ordering and waiting to see the shipping weight to see if I got the 3x deal. Saw that 40lb package for 10 doz and knew instantly I got 30 doz!

I don't think you can call the Callaway thing a special deal. It was an obvious mistake and taken advantage of. Other than that, yes, the power of Wrx is well known in the industry.

Yea there have been many codes that all of the sudden stopped working. One in particular that I remember was the Cobra friends and family. Told a couple buddies. One got in and got what he wanted and the other waited a bit and missed it because Cobra shut it down.

I've learned in my time here that if someone posts an amazing deal that's almost too good to be true...just buy it without thinking! ?

I was lucky & timely enough to take advantage of then puma shirts deal in time. Then the following day they shut it down... absolute WRX effect. $117 for three shirts, three pairs of shorts, on Nicklaus sweater, one pair of socks & two puma hats.

 

I also text all my buddies (serious or casual golfers) when a killer deals comes along in hope they can partake. Whenever they do, the rue the day they bought a shirt off the rack at GG for $75.

 

I wonder too if these websites do these deals to control inventory? I'd imagine if your coming up on a 2017 apparel release & sitting on 2015 apparel you want to move it as quickly as possible.

Perspective. Yes wrx will bump a needle but won't move it.

 

 

There's so many dedicated sites like Slickdeals etc where they have professional shoppers. We're talking peeps that buy in thousands. Esp electronics

 

 

 

We may get in on some good ones (afformentioned puma) but they only took one code down and kept the other code up. Obviously we didn't hurt them too bad

Absolutely they know how to clear out old gear. Then when they get to a comfy level, they adjust.

Cobra FnF and Lethal Woot were fantastic. I think WRX can definitely have an affect on specific sales. At the very least we alert companies that they have inadvertently made a mistake in pricing. Lol.

If you ever had any doubt of the online WRX affect then you've never been over to slickdeals. That place shuts websites down. Those people are animals.

 

Unless it's a killer deal I don't think WRX has too much of an affect. Unless there is a clear price mistake like a flex 440 for $179

You can always find a good deal. All you have to do is read the fine print, find a discrepancy, and then call customer service and twist their arms until they give you the price you wanted! It's kind of like the "name your own price" deal from Progressive but for golf stuff! We have some pros on here that do it, just PM them for tips!

Anyone remember the Iliac covers? That was the only deal I've taken advantage of and it was friggin awesome. I literally bought 4 sets of them. Probably one of my favorite memories since my time joint WRX lol.

Yeah, I remember the Iliac head cover deal from RBG.The poms were huge and cheaply made. I bought two sets, driver, fairway and hybrid. Never used them and finally sold both sets for $75 each.

 

Remember the Callaway FT IZ driver with upgraded shafts deal on RBG? I know a few guys got the AD DI that way and I bought one with a Ali'Islai but received a left handed head. Returned it but I should've kept the shaft and sold the head! Can't find that shaft anywhere!

Still have mine, they were on the bag for almost 2 years. I had couple sets but I just sent them to protect clubs that I sold on the BST lol. Mustve gotten lucky, I put these through the ringer and they still look great.

Yeah this was one of the deals of the century. It would be tough to pay full price ever again after that one :)

Some of you may remember. There was a super nice lady named JuJu McCall and she made Pom Pom headcovers. This is speculation, but the WRX community loved her work and I bet we accounted for a significant portion of her business that year. This was maybe 2008 or so?
