Are there any posters here who remember when clubs came from Ram, Bristol, Kroydon, Sportsman, Toney Penna, Hagen, Royal, Palmer Peerless, etc?

Remember when THE club was a Wilson Staff?

I'm young, but not stupid. Wilson Staff was the sh!t before my time. Didn't Tom Watson play a women's Ram driver for a few seasons that he got from somebody else? I've heard of Hagen products...but I can't say I know/ heard of the others though.

They were the dominant clubs of their day. A Sportsman George Low Wizard 600 putter is one of the most valuable vintage clubs of all time. I've heard of these selling for over $10,000!

I have always been a fan of the real nice vintage stuff. I still have in my collection two sets of RAM forged blades.... one of which was a limited edition set identical to the set Tom Watson used to win the Open at Pebble Beach.

My collection contains about five original Wilson 8802 putters, an old Bristol Wizard 600 blade... very similar to the Sportsman.

I also still have several of the old MacGregor Persimmon drivers. All beautiful stuff... but truly most is not so playable today, at least not for me. I have been using the oversized stuff for so long that I am not sure I even could hit one of those old beauties anylonger. But... I continue to keep them for old times sake.

Truly.. brings back some very good memories.

Teezoid- I still have some amazing MacGregor Muirfield woods (1-3-5) and Titleist Tour Models. I also have some strange old forged blades and a weird forged putter that looks like a 1 iron sort of except it's 35". I also have some newer old stuff, Cleveland 485 BeCu wedge, Ping Eye2 irons 1-PW, and a few other things.

Leek....

It is all great stuff and certainly worth keeping. I have found that most people have no idea of the worth, so it is not worth trying to even sell it.

Sounds like you have also a nice collection of this kind of stuff. I often think that one day... to pull out some of that great vintage stuff and play a round just for some real fun.

I have some stuff that has been sitting under my steps and has not seen the light of day in fifteen to twenty years.

Some of my old Ram wizard 600 putters.. etc. great stuff.

Have you ever thought about getting some old friends together.. pull out the old clubs and play this game like it was played over twenty years ago??? I really have thought about it.
