Does anyone know from previous years if there will be a schedule of what times players are going out for practice rounds? I'd like to specifically see Kaymer and my wife wants to see Spieth.

Attending Friday with my uncle and cousin, will be my first Ryder Cup. I've had a great year of firsts in golf, got to attend the Master's for the first time (Monday practice round) and now the Ryder Cup in the same year

My wife is from Minnetonka (parents still live there) so I'm heading up for Wednesday practice and Thursday rounds. I still need to get Thursday tickets though. I have a few extra Wednesday practice round tickets, I might just give them to friends.

 

 

I heard you can't get dropped off at the course? That place is going to be crazy, I drive by Hazeltine constantly when I'm up there, I can't imagine how crazy it will be with all the people in that area.

I live in the Twin Cities and will be attending Friday. I've played 27 holes at Hazeltine and it's a brute but hoping the rough will be more like the Masters so we get to see some birdies. Weather for the three competition days is looking great: dry and in the low 70s.

 

We've received a lot of rain here lately so the courses are soaked but hopefully they will dry out. Good public golf here in town but I know a lot of courses are charging $100-150 during the Ryder Cup.

 

Happy to help answer any questions for folks coming in. Great restaurant and beer scene here, too.

How early are people planning to get there over the weekend?

If anyone gets the itch to try some new equipment or buy used, there are a couple of great places in the Twin Cities. Totally Driven has about every driver head and shaft combo you could ever want, they are a top 100 fitter. The famous 2nd swing has a ton of used equipment. They have decent prices, sometimes great prices. Both places are close to Hazeltine.

 

I've met great people from both places. One of the guys at Totally Driven has become a friend that I usually golf with every time in in town.

Just a few things I picked up yesterday! I've been there just about every day the last two weeks! The place is crazy busy! Very wet, but the weather is looking good next week!

Two years ago my son told me that all he wanted for his 12th birthday was to go to the Ryder Cup. So we are coming up from Texas with my dad for Thursday and Friday.

Greetings all. Here are some spots to consider for food and drink options. Hardly a full list, but some well regarded spots here for a variety of things. In no particular order:

 

Matt's Bar - south Minneapolis dive/hamburger joint. Known for the Juicy Lucy hamburger: two patties crimped around a ball of melted cheese in the middle. Wait a few minutes before taking a bite (hot)! No reservations and pretty small. Wait too long? 5-8 Club also makes a good burger and is close to Matt's.

 

Ciao Bella - south metro modern Italian in Bloomington. Known for their pasta, fish, and great service. Good wine list, too. Great patio and good bar area, too.

 

Victor's 1959 Cafe in south Minneapolis for Cuban fare. Casual, has been on Triple D.

 

Rincon 38: kiddie-corner from Victor's for delicious tapas in a casual environment.

 

Steaks: Capital Grille (modern/downtown), Murray's: old-school/institution located downtown, Manny's: raucous good-time, probably all booked-up; downtown. Butcher & the Boar: lively, younger crowd, known for sausages and the beef long rib (think axe of meat!), beer garden in the back, and lots of whiskey selections; downtown.

 

Under-the-radar gem: Rinata Italian restaurant in Uptown Minneapolis. Quiet, cozy, pastas made in-house, an awesome garlic-heavy caesar, and moderate prices. Spaghetti w/ Meatballs and bucatini recommended dishes.

 

All of the above except for Matt's can be found on Open Table.

 

Pub: Brit's Pub downtown on Nicollet Mall. This place should be hopping! Shows Premier League soccer, too.

 

Ice Cream: Sebastian Joe's, one in uptown, a mile south of downtown, the other in southwest Minneapolis, just west of Lake Harriet. Raspberry chocolate chip is the bomb.

 

Music: First Avenue located downtown. An institution. And The Dakota restaurant on Nicollet Mall/downtown for jazz.

 

If you find yourself in Northeast Minneapolis (locals call it Nordeast) Erte, Northeast Social, and Anchor Fish & Chips are notable.

 

Good pizza town w/ Broadway, Red's Savoy, Pizza Luce, and a Giordano's for deep dish; some other names escape me. Want to stay in? Find your local gas station and ask if they sell Heggies frozen pizzas. Delish.

 

Minneapolis Warehouse District downtown is where the bars and clubs are located. Nicollet Mall from about 9th to 12th st. also has some bars and restaurants.

 

And last but not least: all liquor stores are closed in Minnesota on Sundays so plan ahead or you'll have to drive over to Wisconsin!
