What's your $/ball figure breakpoint?

I always figure dollar per including shipping if required to determine what ball to buy.

High handicapper right now so i dont have a goto ball right now. Still got 14 boxes of Nike RZN Black 2014 which i got for $1.67 a ball.

Looking around for cheap deals on 2016 RZN Platinums but they seem to be all off the shelves. Stores must want to blow them out soon.

Just worked out $2.38 (ok) for Snell Get Sum balls including shipping compared to $3.66 (too much) for Snell MTB.

So i got to thinking $3 might be my cut off point for golf balls. You guys?

Personally I don't have a cutoff or break point for golf ball prices. If a ball really interests me I will buy it and give it a try.

In spite of cost and whether it MIGHT good for my game or not. Usually JDM product (Mizuno/Tourstage(RIP))

Like many here I like to try lots of different gear. And honestly with the cost of some clubs and shafts golf balls are usually a small fraction of some other equipment costs. Not having other pricey hobbies makes it a bit easier for me to take a flyer and try some golf gear out.

Funny enough, I just had to buy some new '16 Chrome softs to try them. Here in Korea, it is actually one of the few premium balls that you can find online for about the same as the retail price in the US. So, it is the probably the most I have spent on a dozen golf balls in a while. Usually I am quite content buying mint recycled XV's for the best price I can find and stocking up.

$25/dozen, though the two balls I tend to play with (Gamer Soft or WS 50 elite) are much less than that.

I tried used and won't do that again. The balls were more inconsistent than my game....and that's saying something. ex. A dozen AAAA (or worse) thrown in with a bucket of 48 balls that were supposed to be AAAAA and a dozen Pro V1's where half were AAA or worse (should have all been AAAA). I probably should have just tossed all of them in the box and sent them back for a refund.

I stock up on ball deals in the offseason, or when I happen to find a deal on a ball that I like. If I really have to and I'm all out I don't mind paying top dollar for a sleeve or a dozen, nobody's fault but my own. I won't buy used/refinished, and I prefer to play something of a nicer, softer ball for feel around the greens.

50 cent for a 2 piece

$1 for a 3 piece

$2 for a urethane

I'm only buying new.

Not even for a decent 2 piece ball like the q-star?

I picked up a dozen of these for about $15. These are 2 piece? Thought they were 3 piece. I remember them being long and straight off the tee. Had some putting issues the day I tried them. Seemed to be explosive off all clubs including the putter.

I plan to try them again........I have little to no issues putting with any ball I've used.......it's the other clubs I have issues with from time to time

Could have been user error that day. I know I went to the first tee with no putting warm up. Not a great idea. Hit the first green in regulation and four putted. Had me tentative on the greens all day after that.

I can go from putting great one round as in make everything inside 10 feet and no 3 putts....to being anxious and struggling with 3 footers the next. Crazy game.

A year or so ago I would have laughed at this topic as I bought another over priced box of ProV1x from my club's pro-shop....

Then I discovered that 1) I could no longer tell the difference between previous versions of the ProV 1x and 2) The Performance of the B330 series. I am as big a Titleist equipment ho as anyone but for me the 2014 B330 is the best ball regardless of price. I did try the new B330 to see if it was any better and honestly could not tell any performance difference with the 2014 model. As the 2014 B330 can be had for $30 or less per dozen then I guess my limit is now under $3 a ball.

The MG Tour is also a very good ball - found one on the course and was impressed. Cannot argue with the price and amazed can I don't see more of them being played.

$1.25/ball, unless I'm expensing it (I usually buy a couple of dozen B330 RXS, Z-Star SL, or Duo U to pass around to the group at work sponsored events or customer outings). Until recently, this had me playing whatever AAAA urethane balls I found a deal on or one of the various iterations of TF Gamer.

Lately, though, it's getting surprisingly easy to hold this price point and still play new urethane balls, so I don't bother with the used stuff anymore. Callaway Hex Pro logo overruns, Gamer Tour/Maxfli U3/U6 on sale or BOGO, and now the Costco Kirkland Signature all come to mind.

I was always shopping around, trying to find two dozen ball deals and the like. I always tried to keep it under $30(US) per dozen for urethane or tour level balls.

With the Snell MTB I didn't haven't have to worry about searching, when buying 6 dozen you get them for $26.34(US) per dozen

Well with the new Kirkland Ball I have found a good ball even cheaper. 2 dozen for $30(US) That works out to around $1.30(ish) per ball. I am not sure it will be my replacement, the Snell I have been playing for two years and it was great.

I keep it under $2 a ball. I just bought the U6 Tour for 2 dozen@ $44. Prior to that I was going for the TF Gamer Tour for 2 dozen@ $35.

I honestly can't make a ProV1x do anything the above 2 balls can't.

I want to just pick 1 golf ball & that still hasn't happened......................have a few I could pick from but still don't know

$2 / ball is my upper limit. I'm still working on using up my Lethal practice balls I got from Woot for $0.83 a ball. Still the best golf ball deal I've ever seen...I think I have like 5 or 6 dozen left.

I still have a few dozen of the Woot Lethal practice balls. Best golf ball deal of ALL TIME!

I have used the Lethals for a while and they worked OK. My saying is always there's no such thing as a ball that flies farther but there are a few that fly shorter. The Lethal was one of those. Not sure why but driver, irons, wedges, whatever I always seemed to come up 3, 4, 5 yard shorter with the Lethal than with a ProV1, Chrome Soft, TP, FG Tour, Z-star and the other urethane balls that all go about the same distance. The other one that seemed a bit shorter was Nike 20XI-X. Like the Lethal, always seemed half a club shorter.

That said, three or four yards ain't gonna turn a bogey golfer into scratch. If I'd bought a bunch of those Lethals on the Woot deal for under a dollar a ball (I think you guys paid even less than that, right?) I'd still be happily playing them. My AAAAA used ProV1x cost like $1.70/ball which is 2x to 3x what you guys paid for brand-new Lethals. That would be a lot of dollars per yard gained for me.

For the $$, the TF Gamer Tour is a solid ball. If your not quite sure what you want in a golf ball, it's the best place to start.

I don't worry about sticking with only one ball. Usually 2 dozen will last me a couple months(playing once maybe twice a week). After one round, I can usually get a good idea for what a ball is going to do and feel like.
