Steel Shafts won't go back in club head...HELP!

Okay I am doing something wrong but can't figure it out. I removed the heads off the shafts to start a project for my first rebuild. I cleaned the tips of the shafts and the hosel of the iron heads. But can't seem to get the shafts back into the heads. The irons are Titleist Tour Models and the shafts are DG s300s. The only thing I see are the shafts look "crimped" and the end. Do not know if this matters. Sorry if this has been covered before but I am at a loss. Thanks in advance.

What did you used to clean out the hosel? My guess is you didn't clean out the hosel all they way so they won't go in. Also make sure you clean out the inside tip portion of the shaft. If it's not clean out to let air escape the head will just pop off.

I'll look at the shafts because what you described is what is happening. The shafts keep pushing out of the heads. I used a steel wool brush to clean the hosel. I'm going to look at the tips of the shaft. Thank you!

+1 for blockage this will cause a pressure when pushing the head on which if there is nowhere to go it will push the head off. drill a hole in the epoxy at the least in order for the air pressure to escape.

2nd on the post above, sounds like there is epoxy or something inside the shaft tip, the air can't escape... Need to either clean the tip out or drill small hole through any tip weights...

I agree that it seems likely that the shaft tip is not clean.

 

Regarding the crimped shafts, the reason some companies/builders do that is because it causes localized bulges in the shaft tip which then necessitates driving the shaft down into the hosel to seat all the way to the bottom. It also allows the builder to physically handle the club/shaft before the epoxy is dried. If the shaft doesn't bottom out in the hosel easily this may be contributing to the issue.

Thanks for the solution. I was also having the issue when I added the weight plug into the tip. I just slowly push and hold it until it reach the bottom.
