Golf Clubs stolen. AGAIN!

Go ahead and search my last BST sale too. This was in the last few days. I always keep my clubs in my car and today I get the urge to go and practice after a long day at work and.....where are my clubs? GONE. This could've happened in a 150-200 mile radius around my house (no insurance as I rent) and I have no idea when they were taken in the last few days. Absolutely devastated. I thank everyone that was involved in any way shape or form in helping me so I could keep my clubs, and now this happens, I'm in tears this is so unbelievable. Yea yea, don't leave your clubs in your car is the lesson, but dang, I didn't think this was going to happen again. I've searched Craigslist and Ebay and nothing has come up yet, so time to hit up the local shops and pawn shops!

Sorry to hear about this...

RE: insurance... Renters insurance will cover your belongings and liability and is often inexpensive. Would be something I'd look into. Auto insurance won't cover the belongings unless they're permanently attached to the car and designed to be used with the car, like an aftermarket stereo. Landlord's insurance likely won't cover it either.

Good luck locating your clubs... Can't stand thieves!

Call the last course you played, maybe you left them there and forgot...

This happens more than you think. Or, just the other day at a range that my buddy owns, a customer came in and said that there was a set of clubs in her car that didn't belong to her. Someone likely parked next to her and had the same kind or color of vehicle and put his clubs into the back and then drove away in the right vehicle. My buddy still has the clubs (waiting for the person to come back) but the guy is likely saying the same thing as the OP.

My coworkers side eye me when I place my bag by my desk and work but literally everyone I golf with regularly has had their trunks popped and clubs stolen at least once.

And they are definitely targetted as no one else's cars will be broken into around them. Someone knows there's clubs there and makes a concerted effort to go steal them. Low lifes. And that's why I take mine into work and back into the apartment after work. I take it into the pro shop and don't leave them outside the shop, etc.

Sucks so much man. I am sorry.

I know because it happened to me.

I was in a rush to get to an appointment after the round, I changed my shoes, drove the cart back to the corral and left, with the bag still attached to the cart.

Two days later, I opened my trunk and my heart sank.

I called the course, they had my clubs. :) :) :)

I drove back out there immediately and tipped the kid $20

Yep, my clubs once had an "overnight' at our local course. They were nice enough to store them until my faulty memory kicked in. At the time I thought they were just trying to make me feel okay when they said that it happens a lot.

I feel ill for you Danny. I mean the first time was bad enough but you had just put a bag together that you were dialed in with. And with your trip coming up too.

As I said I feel ill for you.

Keep me updated buddy. My sincere condolences.

Not everyone locks their vehicle around here. After 30 years in the golf business nothing surprises me when it comes to what a reasonably sane person does at a golf course or range. Club sets, pull carts, chairs (yes chairs) and cars. We had a newer Porsche 911 in the lot for 4 days 2 yrs ago. Phoned the cops to see if it was stolen, but the owner had just left it there.

I think we all know exactly what our trunk looks like and whats in it, right down to that piece of garbage you just leave there till you get 'around to it'. so to rock up to two identical cars, open the wrong one, put your clubs in the wrong one then drive off in the right one just beggars belief. That doesnt even happen in a Mr Bean movie.

Wow that just staggers belief that people leave their cars unlocked...I reckon it takes me 2 mins to walk away from my car just making sure it is locked hahaha

I always thought it was just a US Movie thing that people just walked away and left their cars unlocked.....guess not.

As to the OP sorry to hear about the clubs. Hopefully it all works out for you.....

You'd think it wasn't possible, but it did happen.

If I had a buck for every car door or trunk left open or keys left in a lock or ignition that I've attended to, I'd have enough money to tee it up at Pebble. I would swear the average drop in IQ once you enter a parking lot is about 50 pts.

Too funny, this just happened to my neighbor. She finished up her round, put her clubs in her car and then went in to record her score for her HCP. When she got home to unload her clubs she noticed another set in the back seat. Luckily the other person's name and number were on the bag so she called the person to let them know she had their clubs. Turns out they both had the exact same make, model and color car!

Sorry to hear man. Don't take this the wrong way, but not having renters insurance is probably one of the dumbest things you can do. I pay $25 a month for renters insurance so it's not really that expensive. If your apartment burns down or if you are robbed you will have absolutely zero protection. The landlord will have insurance but that only covers the property, not your personal belongings. GET RENTERS INSURANCE!

I always lock my car even if I'm only going to be away from it for 30 seconds. Never leave anything visible inside the car that would suggest there are clubs in the trunk. I also don't leave my clubs at bag drops for more than a minute or two. Never had my clubs stolen in 20+ years of playing the game.

Yeah, you can get a renters policy for less than $15/month. Gives you liability insurance too in case someone gets hurt in your apartment/condo/townhouse/house(not sure what you are renting!)

That does suck, I don't keep clubs in the car for his reason, and it's never even happened to me

Clubs are expensive and under a renters policy, they would likely make you insure/schedule them for more money.

Not only is it a bad decision by the tenant it's a bad decision by the landlord. I require each of my tenants to carry insurance. This year it came in handy. During the winter months one tenant left a window open and it froze the heating pipes which burst and flooded the unit and the unit below and parts of the common area hallways. Luckily she had insurance as did I. The final bill came to $13,000 in damage which my insurance paid for but with a $2,000 deductible. Her renters insurance paid me for the $2,000 deductible so she wasn't out that money. I believe her deductible was only $250. It's a very affordable way to protect yourself from a large bill in the future.

This is bad juju man. Clubs are stolen frequently in my area. As for you and I we share a similar tragedy. Even though I was covered by insurance it was for replacement value. 450 dollars was the current value of the set and they wouldn't cover the bag or accessories. So this go round I had an epiphany. I had two tracking chips attached inside the shafts of two irons.
