How many in a row......

Birdies. I know there have been threads in the past but I had a first last night so thought I'd bring it up again.

 

Went out after work last night for a quick nine (45 minutes for the two of us, just for reference and to make RSJ's head spin!). Parred the first four holes then ran off a string of four straight birdies 10're, 3'er, tap in, and 10'er. I've had three in a row before but never four.

 

Then the last hole, shortish dogleg left par four with trouble both sides. Try to play smart with iron off the tee, move it too far left and we never find the darn ball. Waning daylight so no trip back to the tee, what would have been a really nice nine has no conclusion.

 

So no five in a row, what's your best streak?

3 birdies in a row, but I've also gone birdie-birdie-eagle.

 

Most birds in 1 round was 6 (actually did NOT have 3 in a row in that one, but many back to back)

I don't recall ever having had 3 in a row so I am going to have to say 2. Once I had 3 birdies over 4 holes but that don't count in this topics little game.

I believe it says it right in the golf god's hand book: "Each birdie must be followed by a double bogie to restore balance to the universe." SOOO... either you're all cheating the natural balance of life, or you're lying.

 

That being said, I've had two, and I didn't break 90 that day.

It is good fun. It's always something like "man, have you ever had 3 in a row? That fairway probably looks a little tighter these days. Gobble gobble. There are a lot of trees over there to the right(or left)."

 

Helps me whenever I play alone and do it. I usually just say the same things to myself so they can be with me in spirit to haunt me.

 

And yes I still remain at 2 in a row.

4 in a row last week playing 2 guys that were scrambling and i was playn own ball. Was down 4 strokes with 5 holes left. Birdied 14 15 16 17 and they pared that stretch. Both bogyd 18. Ended up tying and losing in 1st playoff hole though

Have to love the camaraderie when you have a regular group of buddies.

 

One of our guys (he's a one, so a good player) can get really streaky with the putter. When he's rolling it seems like he makes everything. So when he's got an important birdie putt in that 10' range, where you "think" you should make it, I'll say outloud to my partner (so the guy putting can hear it), "crap, we're in trouble, he NEVER misses these,".

 

Just to keep it even though, our #1 handicap hole is a par four with OB on both sides. He's usually first to the tee and hits first (ready golf for us), after he hits a playable shot always walks off the tee and says with a grin "with all that OB I'm always just happy to have one in play here", then just leaves it hanging there for the rest of us to think about.

 

We have a really good group and have a great time out there.

Don't remember ever having back to back birds, but have gone Eagle,Birdie on 1 and 2 at my home course three times. Have also gone Eagle, Dbl, Birdie on multiple occasions there!

Our group has been playing together since high school. The four of us were are varsity team from 1998-2001 so we were all decent at some point in our lives. Kids and jobs have gotten in the way but we still play together 5-6 times a year as a group. I play with some more than others. One of them is a monster from from 10-20' but get him inside the 5-10' range and he's probably about 25%. We def. hassle him if he gets too close on an approach or a chip that he is outside his "zone". All in good fun. Never playing for anything serious so we have a great time whenever we can get out together.

4 in a row. At one point this year in back to back rounds I went 4/4/4/4 then 4/3/4/4 on the par 5s at my home course. Bragged about it a few days later playing my next round and made 8 on the opening par 5 lol.

I have had 2 birdies in a row which is a rare occasion as a 17 HCP. I have had 4 pars in a row which was a feat for me but then again I have never been better than +14 on a championship 18 hole course. I have also never made an eagle putt - I had one about 6 feet a couple of weeks ago but blew it.

I've made four. The craziest thing I've done though is eagle, par, eagle, birdie. Those pretty rare moments is what keep us addicted I'm sure.

My best start of a round was birdie, birdie, birdie, missed 6 foot birdie putt on 4th, eagled 5th, finished 2 under for the round. Talk about pressure for the next 13 holes, wow!

Years ago went eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie. Mind you, up to that point I had not shot under 45 for nine holes and even with that streak, probably shot 47 or so for nine.

 

I consider my "modern" record to be three birdies in a row. I once started a round "3,3,3" with eagle, birdie, par. Probably shot 82 for that 18.

I had a round about a year ago where I birdied the first 4 holes and the last 3. In between wasn't as hot.

Ive had 4 in a row quite a few times over the years, one time last month even and it had been probably 15 years since the last time it happened. 20 years ago I started a round eagle. birdie, birdie, birdie.

 

I will remember that start forever, although the only other thing I remember about he rest of the round is I finished at 73. I often score better starting off rough with a bogey rather than a birdie.

It blows my mind when I see pros rattle off 5 or 6 in a row. Different world.
