Lambert's "Throwed Rolls"

Another thread had a fella looking for things for his wife to do while he played in Branson, MO...and, I gave him the suggestion that he & his wife should visit Lambert's if they were that close.

 

Anyone else ever been there, and did you enjoy the food, the experience, and the throwed rolls?

 

I found it to be a hoot, and recommend it to anyone wishing to think outside the box for traditional eating venues.

 

Three locations: 2 in MO, 1 in LA (dat's Loozian, not Lost Angless)

I've been to the one in Sikeston, MO and it was a lot of fun! I never imagined a guy walking around with a cart of rolls just chucking them at people who ask. There were even 2 tables in our room that brought fishing nets to catch the rolls with. The food there isn't world class, but it's good solid Midwest Country food (Beef is good). This is definitely a fun place for kids and adults alike.

We go to Lamberts up near Brandon every year for my FIL's birthday. Love that place. They also have a location down around Gulf Shores AL too. Or at least they did 12 years ago when my wife and I honeymooned down there.

I have been to the one in Alabama twice but never to any of the others. Still open. Drove by it two weeks ago.

Go for the fun of having hot rolls thrown at you because the food is OK at best. I always had to stop at the one in Sikeston on trips up to St. Louis because the kids just demanded it. That said, the portions are very, very generous. The one thing I always really like is the way employees will walk around the restaurant dishing out sides you didn't order out of a huge bucket. Just make some room on your plate and the employee will give you a big helping. Potatoes and onions is always my favorite one.

Yes, i grew up in the Mo bootheel and go to the one in Sikeston whenever I go back to visit family.

I grew up going to the one in Sikeston. We would go with my grandparents every few months. I always remember spending so much tie looking for my Grandpa's business card on the wall at the original location. Times have changed, Norman Lambert used to step right out of the kitchen and start throwing the rolls, now the kids walk around tossing them from a few feet away. The food, excellent as always. We make it a point to stop any time we pass one. The location near Gulf Shores is actually in Foley, Al and was still open a couple years ago.

My wife likes the fried okra. Wish we had one closer or went to Gulf Shores more often.

I have been to both in MO. Family has a place in Branson and everytime we go down there the kids want to stop. But the wait can be a bit long anytime.

My mother who lives in Pensacola took me to that one several years ago. It was a fun time, and really good food as well. Wish we had something like that up here.

I have been in that one back in my long distance trucking days. We loved the place. I was catching them in my baseball hat. To us the food was pretty good compaired to what we normally ate at the time which was truck stop food. Those folks really liked us with our Southern Accents

Good atmosphere and its fun to catch the rolls. As stated, food is just ok southern style

I live about 40 miles from Ozark(MO) location, we go there perhaps once a year. They do have good Southern style food but that not great. I like their "throwed" rolls and fried potatoes that they serve out of buckets. We go there when it isn't crowded because tourist buses going to Branson often stops there.
