RESOLVED - Problem with "" in a trade after receiving my club!

So, im just curious for those bashing the Op, at what point does it become ok to get concerned? What if he wasn't overseas? Or what if it was 15 days instead of 11? It is pretty argumentative to say, after not hearing from someone for several days who has already received the club, that he shouldnt have worried about it...seems like if it was your $120, you'd be concerned.

I wouldn't put the guy on blast like OP did so quickly. I also wouldn't have traded straight up based on someone's word that they would send their item and exchange tracking WITHOUT doing a same value PayPal payment. That would definitely help thawrt any scamming. A scammer probably wouldn't even agree to that in the first place.

My original post did state exactly what happened but since you failed to read it, here are cliffs. We agreed to a trade and I held up my end of the bargain, prior to this thread he has not and then chose to stop all communication leading me to believe he wasn't going to send the club since he already had mine..... That's exactly what happened!

Even if the member in question could've done a better job communicating with the OP, I don't think that merits a thread calling his handle out as a "Scammer" in the title by any stretch. Especially considering the fact that he shipped it out when he said he did, and the delay in delivery has been confirmed as a UPS issue entirely.

At the very least, the OP should edit the title so it doesn't call the other member a scammer. Even if the OP plans on deleting the thread once he has the club in hand, the prospect of the club not arriving as described (which isn't exactly merited since the trader shipped it out when he said he did and the OP would never believe to be the case had UPS delivered it promptly) isn't enough reason to call him a scammer.

For the people bashing me, please enlighten me on what I'm supposed to think when all of a sudden communication has stopped essentially once my club arrived to him. Not only that he's been logging in daily multiple times and just ignoring my messages. Obviously he was reading them via email since he messaged withing 5 minutes of me making this thread. So please enlighten me what I should have been thinking?

I would agree that the title should be edited. I also think calling the boss, even in another week might be a bit over the line. The challenge is, how do you hold people accountable? The other party should have communicated. There were multiple failures...he didnt mention his wife would be shipping, or that he would be overseas. Both of those things would have stopped me personally from swapping, but op didnt know either of those things.

There are also multiple things that if not "scamming" are at least inconsistent. Why wouldnt his wife get him the tracking number? Why did he log in AND read the messages, but not respond at all? Yes, sometimes we are busy, but it takes 9 seconds to type - "havent heard from my wife yet, sorry! Will message you the moment i do."

Is the othet guy a scammer? Doubtful. Would i want to swap with him based on this transaction, no.

It's very easy for us to tell the OP how he should've reacted, as none of us have any skin in the game and are completely removed from this transaction. I don't think you really overreacted tbh. For those of us who have been around as long as we have, and seen the stories of trades/deals gone wrong, this did have all the telltale signs of a potential scam:

- No tracking info sent/doesn't have tracking info

- Over a week without receiving the club

- Trader out of the country

- Trader had friend/relative send the club

The OP made clear his concerns to the trade partner, and told him that a thread would be upcoming if no response was received. And he read that message and didn't respond. It blows that it took authoring a thread to get a response and the tracking info from him, and I'm not excusing the poor communication on his part. I think you handled the situation well OP. You even provided all the pertinent information and comms from the jump, something these type of threads typically lack and take about 3 pages worth of replies before a clear picture begins to form. But, now that you have the tracking info and it confirms his story about when it was shipped, I think it's best to change the title at least. Something along the lines of "Questionable Trade with a Member" would be fair, and then if you choose to delete it entirely once you have the club.

I read your post and it calls him a scammer. Did he scam you? From what I read no he did not scam you be any common definition of the word 'scam'. It appears by your own admission he did what he said he would, but took long to reply to you. He did not steal your money/club.

I will take this all back if the club does not show up and tracking information you have showing it was sent when he said he sent is fake. But as it stands now your claim he is a "Scammer" is false in my mind.

I think you need take the negative and positive reactions to your situation in stride. You decided to air the details of a personal transaction in a public way. Once you do that you invited peoples opinions of how you and the other trader behaved.

I sense some sarcasm in your request for enlightenment, but I will give it a try.

What you could be thinking is 'nothing'. People love to invent stories in their head and assign meaning where there is not any. There is lots of benign reasons for the events you outlined that would not make this person a scammer. Life is a lot more fun when you give people a chance to be good rather than assume they are bad. For me I would have just chilled out for a few days. I hate getting taken advantage of us much as the next guy, but some times you just need to chill out and give a situation a bit more time to develop.

He said he shipped it. Even if he didn't give you tracking, how far away was it coming from? Did you just automatically assume he shipped Priority or did he say UPS? Shipments take up to 10 business days or more coast to coast.

You should've waited longer to accuse the guy of scamming you and threaten to call his work. His company would've hung up on you.

Another week without a package nor communication and you have more reason to be worried and alert the community.

I'd still leave negative feedback. That's what it's there for, to provide an honest transaction experience.

You bashed a upstanding member because your expectations of receiving the club in 3 days or even 7 days didn't happen and you wanted attention.

I agree in changing the original thread title. Contrary to the OP's posts, I don't think you can just delete an entire thread started or an initial post to a started thread (I've tried). Best one can do as I understand the process is to request the mods to lock it, and to delete any additional posts after the thread start by yourself. But if someone has already quoted you, that quoted post stays unless the Moderators deem otherwise, which probably would only be if the post violated policies.

That's probably not the case here. Though I think the OP jumped the gun in calling someone out, I respect that he should not have been pleased with the transaction and communication. And i respect that he spent time and energy to resolve it...but not a lot of time by the calendar.

I agree that it was not a well-considered option to call the seller's boss.

In Equipment and Clubmaking Forums on this site we get questions if a certain shaft is correct for the poster as shots go low and to the right. Or a high Push right. Often the quick responses are that maybe you are too Over The Top, the shaft might not be the issue and perhaps you need a lesson/fitting.

In this case, I suggest a similar quick response from info available. I suggest you were a bit OTT. It wasn't necessarily a "shaft(ed)" issue and you should take the "lesson" (advice) offered here to offer some context. You had the right to be a bit pissed at the how the transaction went and after your early ways to resolve it well, but went OTT in my opinion.

He said it would be there Thursday. It wasn't. I messaged him every day following that for an update of any kind. He failed to respond. Not sure what else I was supposed to do. Clearly this got a response from him which shows he was ignoring me

And I've been around a long time and done way more transactions than my feedback showed. This is my 2nd post ever like this. The first one I made was a transaction via Pp so I just alerted the community and filed a dispute. No big deal, would get my money back. In a trade it's very different.

I will say one thing though, it's clear some of you do not follow this sub section as much. There have been numerous high feedback members go rogue on like 6 transactions at a time. It was then a group effort to get their items or money back. Some have led to calling their places of employment (that's worked) some has not. When it's my money on the line I'm going to do what is in my best interest after I've completed my end of the deal. Pretty evident the only way I was getting a response was this thread so mission accomplished. If he didn't want a thread started he should have responded to me when I said I'M GOING TO START A THREAD " LOL. This wasn't a surprise to him, this was the route he chose to go.

He did apologize but he did have a link to this thread and chose not to post here. I do think the member is a good member judging by his last pm but there is no way i could have known that after that constant ignoring for 3 days. Not my fault....

Why should I be patient? How long am I supposed to wait? 10 days? 20 days? What if he had other deals with other members pending just like I did? Just hold up your end of the agreement. Really not that difficult

So just to be clear, you believe that it is ok to have to wait 14-17, SEVENTEEN, days for a package to arrive without ANY tracking information, simply because the guy said "I shipped it." Buy a clue.

Edit: In addition to the fact that the other guy already got his club.

I like when someone quotes only the part of a post that fits what they want to say. There was a lot more to that post explaining his position and reasoning for the thread. Classy.

My point is the fact you think it's okay to go to his boss over a golf club trade.. is his job, his reputation at work, potentially his ability to feed his kids worth a golf club?

Seriously?

IF the member the OP traded with really was trying to scam him, this would be a great question to ask the other member. As for the OP, IF he had gotten scammed, I'd be behind him going to the business the club was sent in any avenue possible to right the situation.

I remember the first time I had to give a shipping update on a golf club. Worked on it for 3 months writing it, proofreading it, fine tuning it. It was a pain in the Word not allowed.

You know, now that i think of it, that was my thesis. The last shipping update took 30 seconds, the last reply to a PM here on wrx was 15 seconds as I sat on a plane waiting to take off. The one before that I was sitting in a hotel on business travel and the one before that I was sitting on the, uh, let's just say taking care of some business.

How about letting the owner/manager know that someone's potentially using their business address for conducting fraudulent activities? We had someone in our company go to jail for something similar.

Where the heck is this club coming from? Shipped prior to the 17th and still not delivered? Unless the shipper is in the middle of hurricane territory that seems like a long delay.

I would be calling BS then. Nowhere in that thread was there any info on a shipping address or anything. If he received it, and it was empty with a business address on it, then fair plan of action. In this case...no.
