What's the explanation on the UPS holdup? In my experience they're on time 99% of the time, very rare to have a holdup of any kind.

 

I'm not hopping on either side. Some people here expect shipping same day, next day is seen as laziness, but in this case when somebody has your item in a trade and you don't even have tracking, that's not a fun spot to be in so I can understand it.

My big concern here isn't even ship time. That's whatever. I'm perfectly OK with that. It's the dead stoppage of communication after he got my club. That should always be red flags.

 

I thought in you first post you said he received it Oct 17th and that you did communicate up util Oct 21. Then on Oct 24 you started this this thread. That would not indicate a "dead stoppage" of communication after he received the club.

Yeah - Let me ping my wife again. The reason why I didn't provide it initially is because I had to go on a business trip, and I'm currently sitting in London. I've asked my wife each day to just take a picture of the receipt.

 

I just spoke to her and she said it's coming over in a few minutes.

Also if you follow the timeline on Oct 17th the trader says he shipped the item. It did not arrive by Thursday. Where I live it is not that odd for an item shipped Monday to not make it to me by Thursday or vice versa - most of the time the item does not leave my post office until the next day (Tuesday). Anyhow you waited 4 working days for the club to arrive before starting a thread calling someone a scammer. As for his lack of communication you are correct he did not respond to you for 2 days before you called him a scammer publicly.

 

Anyhow if I talked to someone on Friday, and did not hear from them for two days I don't think I would start a thread accusing them of being a scam artist on Monday and threatening to call their boss.

 

Hopefully you have your club now.

Again, I'm not excusing his lack of communication. But here's a thought. He responded before and through Friday, and then didn't reply for two days. That would mean he didn't reply on the weekend. And then come Monday, he replied to the OP with the tracking info for a package shipped out the week before. So, he didn't reply for a full weekend. What's the big deal? Don't think that merits threatening to call his employer or starting a thread calling him out a scammer by any stretch.

 

Just change the title OP. Its plain wrong and irresponsible to have a thread titled "Member XXX Scammer" without any evidence to suggest he scammed you.

At the time of the thread, there could be many assumptions made. This was clearly the best route to get his attention. He didnt send tracking the first time when I asked, followed up Thursday and he still chose to not send it and then communication stopped when I sent him 3 PMs. Clearly you are missing the point. Again, he did not send tracking or respond voluntarily on Monday. He had all day to send it and had logged on early in the day. He only sent it AFTER I posted this. That should tell you all you need to know but hey go ahead and keep spinning it however you want.

Right, you got his attention, so the thread served its purpose in that regard. Having a thread with a sensational title like "Member XXX Scammer" will definitely light a fire under someone to reply. And it did.

 

But why keep the title now? What reason is there for doing so? Has he done something to merit being called a scammer? That's the only point I am making.

This is devolving quickly, and honestly, I don't get it.

 

The OP was concerned. He sent something out with an expectation that he would soon after get his item. It did not arrive, so he asked for more information.,

 

He was ignored, gave it another day, then asked for more information.

 

He was ignored, then gave it another try asking for more information, this time with the threat of some more drastic measures - and here is the kicker - he still got ignored...

 

Then he starts this thread and miraculously, he gets a response immediately.

 

So, for the gentleman he traded with - who didn't ship the item himself (and didn't tell the OP that would be the case), that's strike one. He wasn't going to be in the country, potentially making any sort of issue much more challenging to resolve, and didn't disclose that either, strike two. He didn't respond at all, despite LOGGING IN AND READING THE MESSAGES, that's strike 3. He also didn't provide any tracking info, even after the threat of this thread, until he was outed as "potentially" being deceitful.

 

Now, the first exchange 10/17, states "I shipped the baffler." Not I'm going to, not soon. So as of the 17th or BEFORE, he says it was shipped. We are now 8 days into this, at minimum. If you purchased something, even from a reputable store, and didn't have a tracking number, receipt for purchase, email confirmation, etc AND YOU PAID CASH, would you be a little nervous?? Would you be concerned??? I would be, because I have ZERO recourse to get my money back.

 

THAT is the situation the OP was in. He had no way, if this went badly, to get his club or financial restitution.

 

So...with that said, I am amazed at how many people jumped all over him because his title was a bit overboard, or because he was willing IF NEED BE, to contact the other guy's employer. Maybe all of you can afford to lose $150. Maybe most of you don't care to go through the trouble, or just chalk it up to a loss. Maybe he CAN'T. You're not in his financial situation, nor are you in his golfing situation. So just because you wouldn't prosecute a thief, or call someone's boss because they stole from you, doesn't mean no one else should.

Have you received any more info on the club or has it arrived?

 

Why hasn't lordemsworth come in here to defend himself or state what has happened since he knows this thread has been started?

 

Hope it gets resolved for the both of you. You get your club and he gets his BST rep back if it shows up or maybe not since this has gone public.
