How do I clean this up safely?

Hi. I'm a tour putter noob. Got this 3X black 009 that has some issues. Is there a way to safely and easily remove these spots and not harm the finish?

 

Yes, I know. Use the search function. Just wanted any updated methods other than CLR or harsh things like that.

Rubbing it with baby oil is your best bet.

 

Use a very mild abrasive medium like the white 3M cloth (like a soft plastic "brillo" pad) or a fine nylon brush if you're willing to risk changing the 3x sheen.

I'd just rub it with a clean tee shirt and baby oil.

First of all...nice pick up! That's a beautiful 009 with awesome stamping!

 

I would just keep it oiled up with CRC Electrical Grade Silicone Spray that can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot for like $9.00. You want the stuff in the blue can. Silicone spray won't eat away at the paintfill and does not leave the wet residue that baby oil does. Baby oil will ruin a headcover by constantly saturating the putter and placing back in the "fur" lined inside of Cameron covers.

And thanks! Another great member told me to keep it the way it is and I believe I will. I don't want to mess anything up but didn't know if the silicone spray or something else would "clean it up a bit". I understand the rus...I mean patina give it character!

Barkeeper's Friend and a light scrub with a tooth brush will remove the rust spots. I've been using it on my N2 for almost twenty years.

I see this a lot on tour issue scotties. It's because the milling isn't cnc and they've done it on the Bridgeport using a single tipped fly cutter. As the tip reaches the toe is only making contact once per revolution and it puts strain on the spindle bearings a little. If you use an indexable end mill with two cutters you don't get this.

I personally use food grade silicone spray OR the oil cloth from Scotty Cameron for my Black Oxide Mil-Spec. I believe Eezox gun oil should help clean up yours.
