It doesn't have a "home" in tour pros bags as they can flush a driver and 3 wood every time

I have the stock stiff speeder in my 14. I hit it a little shorter than driver. Driver SS is about 103. The KuroKage felt too harsh to me.

Stock stiff Speeder also. I like it. It has one club versatility if you wanted to drop the driver and the three wood...

I can't hit it off the deck. I still have my 3w in play but if I do work it out I will be dropping the 3w.

I tend to hit turf\hit fat before hitting the ball so struggling with it. Do need to work on it though..

The last time I know of a tour player using a short driver was Mike Donald in the 1990 U.S. Open.

Actually no one on tour uses a driver over 45". Sergio's was 43 1/2", now it's 44" I believe. Bubba's is 44" as are many others.

I have a Tour Green in mine and it stands up to most drivers...never leaves my bag. I've heard through the grape vine of some prototypes being tested, but they're always tinkering. Callaway will be making a big push to be # 1 in the driver segment so maybe they'll round out the Epic line with a mini. If they can pack that technology into a 300-350cc head they'd make a lot of people happy.

I should have qualified my statement as what was reported on Sirius PGA golf channel by Haney and others.

So this is how I am learning to hit the fairway wood: I hit my shot with the hybrid or iron and and then drop a foundie or two and hit them with the mini. If they go somewhere decent I will follow them in to the hole for wedge practice. If they don't oh well. Even a little bit fat the BBM is a monster and fairly easy to hit as opposed to the long irons which require the high swing speed.

I don't think there's much market out there for these....but that's just me. Definitely some guys like it. But this and the mini-sldr that TMAG came up with....it's an interesting idea, but i don't know a single person in real life who wanted one. Hard to hit off the deck due to size so limited versatility vs a normal size 3 wood. And just practice hitting your driver more if you can't hit the driver...99% of golfers WANT to hit their driver

The market is essentially guys who don't want to hit driver which is very small. I never thought these would last

The average is 44.5", so I agree, plenty. Rory is a shorter guy and plays 45.5". Justin Rose is 45.75 I believe. Then there's Brooke Henderson on the LPGA Tour using a 48" driver...

Off topic, but other than feel, I think a big reason why many Tour pros use shorter drivers is because they flatten it too much on the downswing with longer shafts (the better player tendency). Brings big blocks and/or hooks into play. The longer shaft is a benefit to those who can maintain good contact and keep the Club on the proper downswing path.

Former professional golfer. Current amateur human being.

You know what's strange Jeff ? My swing speed with a driver ranges from 86-90. I'm actually swinging the mini driver faster than I can swing a 45 1/2" driver. Yesterday I played 18 holes and I hit the mini driver places I've never been with a driver. I'm not saying I'll never have a regular driver again but for a old guy like me this thing just works.

I considered the Mini SLDR at one point, just because at my course i use 3 wood a lot off the tee because there are so many doglegs. But at the end of the day, i just bought a 13.5 degree 915FD, because i could play it at 12.75 degrees and it's basically accomplishing the same task. But i could also play it at up to 14 degrees and use it as a regular 3 wood hitting off the deck etc...

I just found a dedicated large headed 3 wood to be used as a driving wood is such a niche market

FWIW I had a fitting a few years ago where I was swinging my 44" graphite shafted driver about 3 mph slower than a 43" steel shafted persimmon driver.

Adding length to a club to generate more speed doesn't work for everyone. ;)

Each player has a personal point of diminishing returns on club length. And club weight, but that's a thread of its own...

Hit my 3w perfectly which is why I am still carrying both. A fat BBM is only half of what my 3w goes. Looks like I may have to work Sat so range time might be in order to work it out!

Thanks!!
