Phoenix Area affordable Golf Memberships

I am curious what my options are for affordable golf memberships around/near Phoenix. Looking to be there for the winter months and it seems like a golf membership may be the most affordable way to play a lot of golf. Thanks

Generally speaking, the further from scottsdale you go, the more affordable it becomes

Hmmm. That likely doesn't exist in Scottsdale. You'll need to go more in the $6K cost for baseline costs even at a place like Grayhawk which is public. You will most likely be better off looking into places on the Westside of PHX or around Mesa but a Phoenix city card. Plenty of good golf that way.

Scottsdale area in general isn't an affordable golf area, though there are many great courses. How often do you play, and what time of day do you like to play?

 

With those answers I could recommend a 3k plan. When I lived there I played for an average of 30 bucks year round, 40 in the winter, but I was willing to drive all over and wait for last minute twilight deals.

Alta Vista looks pretty good, anyone have experience with the pass at Ahwatukee? The Saguaro membership looks pretty good but I have not seen a price.

I was a member as a junior there for about 5 years. Conditions have only gotten worse because of the dumb management there.

Was a member as well, prices have gone WAY up to where you could get a much better public membership at the same price or cheaper.

 

 

Arcis golf courses have some deals too, Google arcis golf and see what they offer in AZ

The Acris membership looks ok. Decent rates for a low monthly fee.

Ahwatukee was my home course when I lived there ( a long time ago). It was always in good condition. Played it last February and was aghast at the conditions.

 

It was a $20 twilight rate, that was about $18 too high.

Do you have a specific part of town you'll be staying in? Or is that still up in the air?

 

I think legacy might have a seasonal pass, they have solid practice facilities too.

 

If you wanted to do something on a budget, you could get the monthly range pass at Raven, I think it's $30/month unlimited. You could play golf at Aguila, they offer free replay if walking or cart fee only to ride. Think it's under $40 to walk.

 

Base yourself out of south Tempe or ahwatukee, you'll have really good options for golf in peak season at a fraction of the cost of scottsdale.

 

Whirlwind has $25 all day range passes, legacy too. Then Southern Dunes becomes a really easy drive and I've seen weekday tee times for under $50, unlimited range when you play.

 

Wherever you end up staying makes a difference though, I'm only really familiar with the Tempe/Chandler/gilbert east valley options

Not sure on the area, looking to rent something in a decent neighborhood for a few months and take a little time trying to figure things out. Ultimately we will probably buy something but want to find a golf solution as well as a housing solution that fits. The Troon card might be an option but doesn't seem like a long term fit.

I moved to Phoenix in July 2015. I grabbed the WeKoPa pass and then found the TPC Pass. IMO, the TPC Pass at $400 ($350 renewal) is the best deal in the valley. It is relative to how much you want to play of course.

Only after 2:30 which means you're not getting in 18 a lot. Other than that it's discounted rates with a 1-3 day booking window.

Cart fee is at least 35. So at summer rates when you can actually get in 18 you're basically paying greens fees anyway
