Ever been hit by a ball?

Fortunately I can say that I have never ever been hit by a ball but have come close a few times…

One time I was driving the cart at this course where some of the fairways are parallel to each other and a ball came whizzing past the driver’s side of the cart about eye level…..that was pretty scary…not a fore or anything..

I got hit in the shin once as a teenager. Doing some tennis court maintenance outside the fence and a ball came up the 18th fairway pretty much out of nowhere as far as I could tell (the courts at this course adjoined the golf course). Hurt bad and left a big knot.

funny/true story.

when i was younger, i played golf at a club very frequently, private club. i hit a member in the ankle and he went down pretty hard... and to be honest, thats all i really remember. well, several years pass by and i move back to town and take a job as an assistant pro 2 and recognize the guy i hit. i mentioned it to him and he hardly remembered. but we both laughed. i even ran into the other members that were with us when it happened. they said he was wearing two pairs of socks that day because he was wearing new shoes!

Been grazed on the back but not flushed, put the ball in my bag and kept it since the player failed to alert anyone of the errant shot with a "FOOORRRE", thus followed by a couple expletives aimed his way and a friendly conversation on the next tee regarding players still in the fairway with a slight mention of tolerance or lack thereof on my part.

:russian_roulette: :clapping:

They hit into our group 3 times previous to this and it was time to pay the :clapping: .

This so far, has been the only moment of displeasure I have ever had on a Golf Course!

2 close calls since then but the players were gentleman of the game and gave appropriate warnings and they were thanked.

In the early spring of 1992, I was playing 9 holes quickly on sunday morning before my wife had to go to work. I was walking down the right edge of the 3rd fairway and all of the sudden got popped on my right bicep, at the same time hearing "fore" shouted very loudly by more the one person. I had on a hoodie type jacket and a polo shirt. The next day when I woke up, I had a half moon bruise on my right bicep with the golf ball dimples visble. They changed the teeing ground of the second hole not to long after on that golf course. Several people got whizzed on the 3rd fairway on shots into the second hole a par 3.

A long long time ago in a land far far away...

Back in my teenage days many moons ago I was playing with a friend, he hit his shot so I began to walk towards my ball to prepare for my net shot. Well apparently he was less than enthused with his shot so without looking up, he dropped a ball on the ground and proceeded to launch a nuclear missile into my right calf. Mind you this was not a wedge shot, this was a full 3-wood. Thankfully I was wearing jeans or my skin would have exploded like a tomato thrown against a brick wall. I dropped to the ground as if I had just be kicked by a llama in the groin, writhing in pain. After about 5 minutes, the pain let up and I proceeded to finish the remaining holes (I believe I got hit somewhere around the 13th hole) and we were walking the course. The pain was tolerable until I woke up the next morning with a newborn baby attached to my calf. I think it was about 6lbs 7oz and 21 inches long :russian_roulette: ...anyway, after icing for a full morning, I was up and running around again with no real issues. Ever since that day though, I'm always conscious to look back at my playing partners even after their shot, just in case some moron decides to drop a second ball down and play target practice with me again.

A few weeks ago, i was walking to the next hole, almost by the tee, and I hear "Fore", well I covered my head and bent down. THe ball goes thru a tree and hits me on the side of my foot, it was black for a few days and hurt like hell. The guy was scared to come over by me, because I used a few four letter words and was limping around, but I told it him it was cool, he did yell fore, that's all you can ask.

I've never been hit, but back in the mid 90's, I was at the Buick Open in Flint with my dad and he got nailed in the nose by a Jim Furyk drive off the 18th fairway. Dropped him as blood was pouring out of his nose. A medic cart took him to one of their med tents and cleaned him up. He was fine, except for a broken nose and cracked glasses. Didn't really know who Furyk was then. He wasn't a big name then, but I followed his career after that and saw it really flourish. Just a heads up though that he can hit a few errent drives. lol

Not a ball but a club, on the first tee of a tournament round. We were hanging around the first tee waiting to tee off and a buddy of mine was swinging his driver to stay loose and not paying attention I walked right in front of his follow through and he caught me full force in the elbow. Hurt like no other! I had to play with one arm the first couple, but managed to use two towards the middle of the round. It hurt realllly bad the next morning.

I was at a junior tournament about a month ago walking down the fairway, when I hear a very, very faint "fore". Quarter of a second later, a ball rockets off of my driver cover. When I think about it now, I din't even turn my head around when it hit, I just kept walking. But, no I have never been hit by a ball.

I made my first eagle... and as I walked off the green, got popped in my thigh with a line drive from about 150 yards away. i couldn't remember if he yelled fore or not... but I'll always remember my first eagle and the pop on my thigh.

also, go hit on the forehead with a chip shot from about 20 yards away. I was tending the flag and wasn't paying attention and my friend didn't say anything. he was lucky, cause my forehead saved him a couple strokes. it was headed for the bunker.

I have never been hit but came close once. We were driving our cart around the cart path behind the green to the next tee after finishing out when we heard a loud "FORE!". The ball landed on the floor of the cart between me and my partner and bounced around off the ceiling of the cart with out hitting either of us. That would have hurt.

The luckiest thing I ever saw came when I used to caddy at the local country club when I was in high school. We were working a tournament and we were doing double bags for the foresome. The 6th hole has a creek that crosses and a cart bidge down the left side. The other caddy handed his golfer his club and then began to walk ahead down the cart path toward were his second golfer was on the other side of the creek. He was walking backward over the bridge to watch the first golfer hit, when the guy rips a line drive hook right at the kids head. He had no chance to defend himself because he had bags on both shoulders. I though he was dead. The golf ball hit square on the brim of his ball cap and deflected up over his head. It knocked him on his but other then the dent in his cap brim the ball never touched him. If that ball would off hit his head it would have fractured his skull. He didn't walk ahead of that golf anymore.

I got nailed right in the middle of my back by a friend of mine. He was on the left side of the fairway and I was on the right side. I was about 15 yards ahead of him but nowhere near in the way. He shanked the hell out of it and I had my back turned to him and got drilled. He felt awful and bought me a beer after the round.

I've been hit 4 times. Once in the shoulder while I was the passenger in a moving cart. The guy that hit me was on an adjacent fairway. Twice I was hit in the head and and it left a golf ball size goose-egg. The other time, I was teaching a relative in the back yard. His ball hit an air compressor tank and came back to hit me right in the left eye brow. It was some of the worst pain I have ever felt. Blood GUSHING everywhere. Nine stitches and a couple of weeks later and I was good to go.

When I was 13 I got hit on the fingers of my right hand just as I started my takeaway from a shot off the teebox of an adjoining hole about 60 yards away (and 45 degrees to the right). It swelled up a little and hurt like heck for a few minutes but luckily nothing was broken.

My scariest moment on the golf course was when I was warming up before the first round of the 1977 USGA Junior at Hiwan C.C. in Colorado. There was a kid picking up range balls in an open golf cart (no windshield, cage or even a roof) that I'd been avoiding as he crossed in my path. The range creasted over a hill about 220 yards out and I hit a screaming #1 iron when suddenly he came up over the crest right in line with my shot. I couldn't yell 'Fore' because my heart was in my throat.. the ball hit the seat back next to him. Needless to say I was a little shaken for a few minutes.

I've been hit twice. Once in the thigh and it actually broke the skin and began to bleed. Another time when I was in highschool and working at a golf course. I was running the sand trap rake 3 wheeler and was hit in the back of the arm.

In college during a practice round I was talking to a team mate as we walked down the 18th fairway and out of nowhere a ball comes whistling in on us. Drilled him right in twig and berries and dropped in no time. He was hurting bad but I couldn't stop laughing.

Has anyone ever hit someone? When I was 15 I hit my second shot on a par 5 with a 3 wood. It hit the front of the green, skidded once and drilled a guy in the middle of his back when he was putting. He waited for me and I the closer I got to the green the bigger this guy got. He was about 250 and 6 foot 5. Luckily all I got was an ear full because I was no match for that dude.

Top this one...

Hit in the chest on the fly. Standing in the middle of the fairway on a short par 4 adjacent to a par three. Heard someone yell "fore", out of the corner of my eye I could see a ball flying at me. Turned in time for it to miss my face, but got hit on the right side of my chest. Looked towards the tee to find out what happened, but no one was moving. Then, I turned and saw the clubhouse manager walking towards me from the green of the par three.

He had missed a short putt, thrown his ball in the air, then swung at it with his putter. He made perfect mid-air contact with it and launched it in my direction. I would have been more upset, but I was too amazed with the shot. We walked it off at 104 yards - mid-air putter shot.

Needless to say, I got a few free drinks that night.

yip i was hit playing in a match for my club right smack in the mouth from someone coming down the opposite fairway, never felt a thing for about ten minutes when i woke up, i lost eight teeth and had about 15 stitches from my top lip to my chin. spent two weeks in hospital and about 6 months away from golf. when i play now a certainly take stock of who is playing around me. could not bite ice lollies before this but i can now :russian_roulette: :clapping:

Once I shanked a tee shot on a par 3 and nailed a guy on the adjacent fairway on his thigh on the fly. I yelled fore but he didn't react and he was pissed when he got hit. He said "NICE SHOT!" and kept going. I tried to say sorry but he didn't want to talk. I felt so bad and was pretty shaken up myself from the experience. I felt sick for the rest of my round, but I am sure I was feeling better than he was the next day.
