I haven't hit this shaft for a few weeks since I have been putting my focus into the M1. Today, I brought the 917D3 w/ the KK shaft and the M1 w/ Fujikura and the KK is just flat out amazing. Definitely a better shaft for me than the Fuji pro. I need to get this in the M1 head in the near future to see what improvements I get.

Dang, you fellas with the TX are making me feel as if I'm missing out on something. I'm enjoying the run-of-the-mill Stiff flex version just fine, but I now I'm wishing I had asked for the TX just to see how it feels.

Jan 18th testing session 2

I put the KK on the course for 9 holes yesterday.I had the front 9 to myself yesterday, therefore I was able to hit a bunch of drives.

A quick reminder of the two setups I was hitting yesterday;

917 d3 10.5, 915 d3, KK 7 TX, Chrome + 7X

and

Feel - for my second impression, I felt the same as the first testing. The KK feels smooth, blueboard esk but feels like it can't keep up with my swing. Near impact you can feel an active tip section.

Flight - In direct comparison with my gamer chrome +, the KK launched higher in both the 917 and 915 heads. The KK shaft was constantly going right, which is a very unusual flight for me.

Spin - based on my flight and dispersion I felt the KK spun to much for me. I switched back and forth between 917 and 915 but never found a playable ball flight.

Distance - I marked several balls with different numbers to judge the distance. I observed the KK about 8 yards behind my current shaft because of an incorrect fit.

I set out to be completely honest about my individual experience with the KK shaft. As a company MRC has been top notch and communicating with their team has been very easy. The craftsmanship of their products is as good as it gets. If anyone is on the fence about how important fittings are, this trial should be a great lesson.

After several more range sessions and 2 rounds, this shaft has performed much better. I have been testing this shaft in a new 917 head that swing weighted extremely heavy. With a 45" 70 gram shaft my 917 sw was d6.5. This was with the stock 12g weight. I was able to install a 8g weight and take the sw just under d4 where I am comfortable. This sw adjustment unlocked this driver shaft combo. I still need some trackman time with this setup to be comfortable with it but to the eye it seems to fit.

I haven't had much of a chance to test the Kuro Kage Dual Core XT 60 TX much, but I was finally able to hit it.

For reference, I've been playing the UST Elements Chrome Platinum Prototype PT6F5 in my Tour Issue M2. The driver is very hard to turn over, and as such it almost eliminates going left off the tee. I might lose a bit of roll out/distance, but if it's true it's not much. I'll take in bounds/in the fairway over rough or OB. I've also played the Tensei White, Tensei Orange, HZRDUS Black, AD DI, Oban Purple, Oban White, and maybe a few others. I liked both tensei, but they couldn't beat the Platinum Prototype.

For me the Platinum Prototype has been great. Plenty of carry and roll out, excellent control, and most importantly it feels smooth. A lot of the shafts I have played could be considered boardy, but they perform well. The platinum seemed to combine the feel of a softer shaft with the control of a stiffer/more stable shaft.

I expected the Dual Core XT to be stiffer than the platinum, and possibly launch lower. I was playing in 45 degree weather in wet, midwest winter conditions. Not great for hitting it far.

I hit the ball a tiny bit high on the face, it a high/low spin drive. I ended up a little bit closer to the green than I usually would be in the summer. Launch seemed about the same as the platinum, possibly slightly lower. While I can't know for sure what the carry was, it went longer than I expected. More importantly it rolled out quite a bit, more than I usually get with the platinum.

I mishit my second shot a bit, hitting it low on the face towards the heel a smidge. I was impressed with the shot as I was hitting my normal iron into the green. I was very pleased with how poor the contact was.

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to hit any more, I play more hybrids/3 woods on my usual course. But I 'm really excited to see how it performs on a normal round, especially as he weather changes. (and it drys out)

Finally able to get out for another round with the KK Dual Stiff in my Nike Vapor Pro this past weekend. I was playing in Guam, on a short deployment and of course I brought my sticks with me.

My initial thoughts were correct when I first put it into play, VERY stable shaft. My swing was a little off because I haven't played in 3 weeks but I thought that would be a great time to test it. Testing a shaft when you game is not on point is a good way to tell if a shaft is good or great. The results are in....great shaft.

First hole (no range time) was a dog leg left with a slight breeze behind us, right down the middle with a slight draw. This is very consistent with my range time and my first round with it. Again, very easy to load and it comes through the ball very nice. Second shot left me 140, pitching wedge to one foot...birdie. On toes shots I don't feel much rotation or movement in the head.

Skip ahead 4 holes to dog leg right (my problem shot - fade) with OB to the left and it’s a TIGHT fairway. I tried to set up for a "cheater" fade and end up hitting it straight as an arrow. I will take that because if I would have drew it on my intended line I would have been OB. I decided to try it against my Tensei Blue on that hole. Of course my playing partners are complaining and telling me I am cheating...blah blah but I told them it was for GolfWRX so they shut up (they love this site too). I set up the same way and tried to play the hole in same fashion, hit it straight as an arrow. I thought to myself, wow two good shots, let’s check the distance between the two. I am playing my NEW balls (Ksigs) and as I arrive to the balls I see that one is about 10 yards further. The first one I hit was longer; I think that is because of the reduced spin that the KK dual gives me.

The rest of the round was similar the KK dual beating the Tensei in distance and consistency. I will give you another update in a week or so. Thanks again MRC and Golfwrx.

TollsBros and others that have had success with the TX Dual Core, what shafts are you pairing up well in 3W and hybrid? I've currently got the S+ LTD 80TX in my 3W and that has been pretty good, not quite as nice feeling as the dual core but close.

Hybrid wise I've always had issues finding the right shaft fit. To be honest I've been using the stock X-Stiff Ping shaft in my G25 Hybrid for 4-5 years now but I'm looking to replace my hybrid in 2017.

If you like low launch/spin there are a ton of good options for the hybrid. I see a lot of Matrix Altus in pros bags, and the Speeder TS 8.8/9.8 still holds up. I would also recommend the Kuro Kage 90/100 TX Hybrid shaft if you have the speed for it. If you don't mind spending a bit more maybe try an Oban White. I like launching my hybrids high, so I love shafts like the AD DI 95/105 or the Oban Purple 100.

I play Tensei Pro White 80tx in a 2016 Taylormade Tour issue M2 deep face. It came down to this and Kkdc 80tx. Both produce very similar ball flights but the Tensei Pro allows me to draw the 3 wood easier, and since my driver is solely a fade club, I need to have a tee club to work the other way or I'd be dead on longer courses with a lot of right to left holes. I have a love hate relationship with hybrids. I toggle between an 18 degree and a 3 UDI. In the hybrid I used a prototype Tensei Pro White Tour shaft and in my 3 iron I play C-taper 130x.

Sounds like there has been a bunch thrown around about XT and TX, but I am still confused. I am currently playing the XT60 S. Would the best side by side comparison be the Dual Core 60S or the DualCore TX 60?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it looks like my trackman session may be pushed to a little later date. I did get the DC out again for another test. I got very similar results from the first test. DC will launch and spin less than the XM good for good. The DC does seem to want to hold a straighter line than the XM. I still think this beast is a little much for me right now, but could be really good once things warm up and I'm more confident in my swing. Time will tell. I will update again when I have more info. If anyone has questions or would like a comparison to another shaft, let me know.

Ron - do you have access to the original KK XT? if so, I'd love a comparison between the DC, XT, and XM. ie spin, launch, etc. i know the DC and the XT should be similar, but wondering how those two feel compared to each other (knowing the XM will feel softer already).

I thought I would go ahead an add my thoughts on these since I'm not 100% sure that I will be able to get the XT in the test. Here is the best way I think I can compare the three, I hope this makes sense.

I actually feel like the XT is closer to the XM than the XT is to the new DC TX. I played all three shafts in 70 TX at the same length and tipping. Keep in mind I do not have a huge amount of time in with the DC TX at this point.

Lets say each step is equal i.e. one step is 100rpm or 1* or whatever you would like.

Launch - if XM is the base, XT is 1 step lower and DC TX is another step lower than the XT.

Spin - If XM is base, XT is 1 step lower and DC TX is two steps lower than the XT.

Feel - XM is "softest" XT is still very close and DC TX is only slightly more stout FEELING. None of these shafts have a boardy/intimidating feel.

Stability - I would say XM and XT are equal and DC maybe ever so slightly more stable feeling, but again this is on limited testing with the DC TX and mainly due to my experience with its tendency to want to go straighter than my XM thus far.

Sounds like there has been a bunch thrown around about XT and TX, but I am still confused. I am currently playing the XT60 S. Would the best side by side comparison be the Dual Core 60S or the DualCore TX 60?

Thanks!

Are day Scott and Rory and the others still playing the XT?

They are playing dual core TX, which is the XT profile and is tour only, or if you know who to ask you can find it. ;) Rory, Scott, Day and Sergio all switched to the dual core version.

Not sure I can handle a tx. I'm usually a stiff or x in some things. Maybe just get me a 70S in XT.

Does anyone have the TX in a 70 gram that they would want to trade for my 60g? I have recently found that I like the feel of a heavier shaft in my driver. Mine was ordered untapped to play at 44.75.

Unfortunately the dual core XT based profile only comes in TX. If you need 70s, old model XT would be the best bet.

I'm not part of the test group that received shafts from Mitsubishi but here is my review:

I just got in from a session at the range with my Epic SZ 10.5 degree driver and Epic 15 degree 3 wood. I picked up a MRC Kuro Kage Silver Dual-Core 60 stiff and a Kuro Kage Silver Dual-Core 70 stiff to compare against the MRC Kuro Kage XT 60 stiff and XM 70 stiff I currently use in my driver and 3 wood respectively. The main reason I picked up the KK DC was the shaft spins very close to the XT and less than the XM yet launches in between the XT and XM and has better dispersion. The DC shafts were spec’d the same as my XT and XM. On the range, head to head, the shafts were very comparable. I did find the DC launched a smidge lower than the XM on center strikes with the 3 wood. The DC and XT in the driver launched pretty near identically to my eye. The biggest difference was in how the shafts responded to mishits. The XM would torque a tiny bit on toe strikes (my typical miss) leading to a draw while the DC and XT were solid as a rock. The DC 70 carried the ball longer and much straighter overall compared to the XM 70. At this point, the DC 70 is my new 3 wood shaft. The DC 60 is in serious contention for top billing in my driver too. The XT and DC were practically identical in launch, dispersion and distance. The shafts have such a smooth feel to them it’s a pleasure to swing them. It was a photo finish if you will. I need to hit a LM to see where the numbers fall before making a final pick.

MRC golf shafts are the best in the industry in my opinion. I left the range wondering how much better the Tour Only XT Dual Core and XM Dual Core would be with their more premium materials.

MRC, if you read this, I’d be happy to do some testing for you!

Hit the new dctx in 70 today compared to the xt70 from last year and it's the real deal. Definetly more yardage and ball flight is a lot tighter. I was worried at first that it be a lot less spin but it worked really well in my d3 10.5 915. They got a winner with this shaft !!

I have, yes. It's very comparable to Tensei Pro White in terms of trajectory and spin. For a high launch or high spin player, it's awesome.

I just have to say that the Kuro Kage Dual Core Tini XT is the best shaft I've ever hit. I was and still am a big fan of the Tour AD Gp but the KK DC XT blew it away, well for my swing at least.

Feel is great, super stable, tight snap through impact as opposed to a kick. You cannot overpower this shaft. I can launch it high or hit it low. This shaft combined with the Epic SZ head I have is straight $$$ best driver set up I've ever had.
