Jacksonville/Sea Island Quick Trip

My group is going for a quick trip to Jacksonville Feb 10-12 with the below itinerary. Any input on current course conditions and can't misses for meals/drinks at the below are greatly appreciated!

 

Feb 10 - TPC Dye's Valley

Feb 10 - Staying at Ponte Vedra Inn and Club

Feb 11 - TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium

Feb 11 - Staying at The Inn at Sea Island

Feb 12 - Sea Island Seaside

You're missing out by not playing the Ocean Course at PVIC. But that looks like a great trip. As for food in Jax/Beaches, you'll want to hit up TacoLu on Beach Blvd in Jax Beach. Aqua Grill, Nona Blue, and Vernon's at the Sawgrass Marriott are always good, too, in Ponte Vedra Beach.

 

As for Sea Island, Tramici for Italian food (great menu, very fair prices) and Southern Soul BBQ if you're looking for a dive to pork out.

Taco Lu is a must!

 

LuLu's is good for fresh shrimp/seafood, it's a dive but awesome.

 

Palm Beach Fish Camp- Good higher end seafood.

Poe's is a pretty cool giant burger bar type place in Atlantic Beach in Jax, just off the boardwalk with great drinks.

. We were looking at ocean course at PVIC but we got an early afternoon round at TPC Sawgrass and didn't think we could squeeze it in with first off at 7:42A with a shotgun putting us off backside. Is it worth the $150 and risking running straight on course at Sawgrass? If we had open run at it I thought we could do 3 hours but with it being a shotgun I don't know

PVIC is a personal favorite from when I lived in the area back in the early 90s. Ocean course is great. Took a beating last July with the hurricane but I believe they recovered quickly. Breakfast at the Metro Diner is a must and actually worth moving tee times back a bit.

Sea Island Sea Side is in fantastic shape. check out Bubba Garcia's and Crab Daddy's for eats

Just left Sea Island last weekend. Southern Soul is a must eat. Seaside is nice, good luck if it's windy. We had 30 mph winds and the 4 385 yard par 4's played rediculously long. The Inn is also a nice place to stay.

PVIC Ocean - was a good warmup round with the exception of Britney the lazy cart girl. The Inn and Club itself was a little outdated for my liking, felt like old money.

 

TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium - don't get me wrong I loved the course but they currently got a lot of maintenance projects going on. Jason our forecaddie was a decent.

 

Sea Island Seaside - definitely the jewel of our trip. Just has a different feel to it. I don't know if it's the fact that it feels more personal than the 40 stacked tee times at Sawgrass (or the 6 hour round caused by Mr read everything like a tour star), or if I just preferred the layout, but it was legit. I think our caddy Scott (9:30 tee time if he's reading), I'm hoping that's the dudes name, he was the real deal. Made for an extremely enjoyable round. Can't miss with this course.

 

Southern Soul was stout for its stew. As for drinks post dinner at PVIC, what a disaster if you aren't a blue hair.
